Sharpe's Fox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 He was excellent today but really? One good performance and Konch is irrelevant? One good game against a frankly woeful offensive performance from Ipswich makes Schlupp our first choice LB is as blind as saying one poor performance from Dyer means Mahrez should come straight into the side. Let's see how he does in the next two games first.
KIRBYFOX93 Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Great game very impressed would like to see him have a run in the team
TheUltimateWinner Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Don't drop a player if they are playing well. If he has the same standard of performance like he did today, he will be our 1st choice left back until the end of the season.
iamafox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Schlupp played better than I expected today. If he can replicate that for the rest of the season then he'll deserve to keep his LB spot.
Lionator Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Still think he could be a decent left winger eventually, bags of pace and has a decent cross on him too.
Winnershfox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 He had a good game but Ipswich well were total garbage. The worst team at the KP by far this season.
STEVIE B Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Had a good game against limited opposition. He has pace, which Konch lacks. He is young and I hope hungry too,a Pearson type player. The next two games could make him a more permanent fixture if he performs. He can only improve with game time.
Deucalion Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Really impressed with his vision and passing today.
dayday Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 I said the other day he has to make a big statement.....and he did not let himself down. Trouble is Nigel Pearson said that he still wants to be a striker which long term for us is not going to happen,so don't know we're he goes from here.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Both last year... 6-0 Ipswich. 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday (A). Came on after 40 minutes in the 0-0 draw against Bolton last year as well. And most vitally against Watford 2nd Leg.. Got caught out and the rest is history
Weller in Tights Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 If he plays this well for the next two games, Konch is gonna have a tough time getting back in. I hate to pick out a player as being poor, but Konch has disappointed me this season (personal opinion, I know some of you still rate Konch highly), it especially saddens me as I thought he was Mr Reliablelast season. If Schlupp continues to play well he should keep hold of the place. OR keep him there for the home games and have a more defensively orientated full back for tougher away games (Miquel or Moore)
Bert Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 The only fault I had with him today was that he looked absolutely knackered after 75 minutes, but with game time that fitness will definitely improve. You can train all you want but you only get match fit by playing games.
Bert Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 And most vitally against Watford 2nd Leg.. Got caught out and the rest is historyYou're right that is the sole reason we lost
Charl91 Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 And most vitally against Watford 2nd Leg.. Got caught out and the rest is history Don't forget the first leg, where twice he put Watford through on goal with his mis-kicks. That was a horror show of a performance. However, well done for today Jeff. What a solid performance
Ashley Posted 22 February 2014 Author Posted 22 February 2014 And most vitally against Watford 2nd Leg.. Got caught out and the rest is history Yeah easily his fault isn't it? Andy King how many times and chances did he have to put Ayna into Row Z but he didn't? Morgan coming across to try and stop the cross? Kasper flapping when he came out? Keane moving from his position on the goal line to the other side of the goal and the ball went in where he was.. Yep I've nibbled who cares
MC Prussian Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 And most vitally against Watford 2nd Leg.. Got caught out and the rest is history That was then. This is now. I've never been the biggest advocate of Schlupp playing LB, but after today's performance, I can see a future for him in that position. He just has to keep it steady. Well done, Jeff!
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 cc star has it spot on. Jeff Schlupp is a modern day 'wing back' if you like. He's got the pace and power to get forward, but positionally not brilliant. That CAN be coached. Why Prem teams have been looking at Schlupp is because he has every attribute to be an excellent left sided player (in whatever capacity). In the right team (hopefully our team), I still believe Schlupp is going to become a first-teamer and an important player. That's why I was hoping we might see more of him. He needs game time. The potential is there and I'd be surprised if he wasn't in our starting line up next season.
Aus Fox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 I said the other day he has to make a big statement.....and he did not let himself down. Trouble is Nigel Pearson said that he still wants to be a striker which long term for us is not going to happen,so don't know we're he goes from here. Then Schluup has a decision to make, he will never be a premier league striker, but could be if he focuses his a game a decent premiership full back. So the question is does he want to play regularly in the premier league?
Narborough_fox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 You can train all you want but you only get match fit by playing games. As I'll undoubtedly find out tomorrow
Guest ttfn Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Can't believe people actually get nervous with him at left-back. I admit I don't go to away games, but everytime he has played at home at left-back, he has always impressed me. He puts in very comfortable performances, and he is a great attacking threat purely because of his pace, something which Konchesky lacks. He played Kasper into trouble a couple of times today, but apart from that he was decent again. He was an absolute car crash in the first leg of the Play-off semi-final at left back. Really good today though, I have to say I was surprised.
Happy Fox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 It is up to him it is a question of attitude not ability because Schlupp has that in abundance, he can make that LWB position his own.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 I don't really like him but he was brilliant today
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Very impressed with him against Ipswich, yes, in future games he might be tested a little more, but good against Ipswich.
leicesterisme Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 He did very well yesterday. Think people are getting a little carried away though, needs more than a good performance against a poor Ipswich side with no real threat to convince me he should be our first choice left back.
