What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

Agree. Probably in my top 10 or 15 of games I've ever played tbh.

Just finished FO over the space of 4 days. Really got into it and glad I avoided all spoilers. I played on PS5 with Performance mode as the higher quality mode was a bit jittery.

Next game in during my month off where I can binge some games is Metal Gear Solid 2. Tempted to play them all. Although I have God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Control, Nioh and Sekiro waiting too. After FO, I wanted something a little different from FO and some of those felt a little similar.

Do it. They all still play great today. 3 especially is an immense piece o' work.

The actual gameplay of Phantom Pain is mechanically some of the best in the series, the amount of different stealth options you have is great, plus the fun that occurs when you balls everything up and have to try and handle the situation when half the Red Army is trying to blow you and your eyepatch dog up.

It's just everything else that falls a bit short - the story is sparse, and for all the cash they splashed on Kiefer Sutherland, he barely had a word to say. It was clearly a vast project that took longer than expected, and you can see that Konami pulled the plug early and forced Kojima to finish it quick then bombed him out the company. Releasing Ground Zeroes early was probably a forced move to get some cashflow back while the rest was being finished up too.Shame, as if it had been properly finished and fleshed out more it could have been a masterpiece.

keifer does most of his talking on the cassette tapes, whic hare annoying as you have to basically set aside a considerable amount of time to listen to them and get the plot. i have tried playing it 4 times now, and i love the open ended nature of the missions and the gameplay, but i prefer a more linear metal gear tbh. and one that isnt so bloated with shit that doesnt matter

I'm pretty sure a remake of the original is currently underway.  I started with MGS2 which also could do with a remake imo.  Great game.

Edit:  MGS2 was released 20 years ago this year.  Wow.  lol  Well ahead of its time, the intro alone was superb and stands up well today.

Ill never forget plating MGS as a kid and spending hours looking for a box with a Radio code on the back. Gave up thinking what a shit game.

About a month later im chatting with mates and MGS came up in conversation and i was saying its shit, i spent hours looking for a ****ing box and couldnt find it. Then my mate laughs and tells me it means the actual game case has the Radio code on the back.

Couldnt believe it lol

The original MGS

By that stage I hadn't played FFVII (I think released the previous year) so it was my first real exposure to big blockbuster, story-driven games. I didn't know games could be that cinematic and felt like the PS1 was delivering real "next gen" experiences.

The fight with Psycho Mantis completely blew me away. Breaking the fourth wall hadn't been done like that before.

The Phantom Pain was a great game gameplay-wise, but I gave up the moment it forced you to start replaying missions in order to pad out the runtime. Also dropping David Hayter in favour of Sutherland I found unforgivable until I realised it actually made sense in context of the story (no spoilers).

im trying to continue my run through, was hoping to try and get through it but making you replay things sounds shit. i want to get to the end because i completed all the others you know, but it isnt a great mgs.

You don't have to replay any besides part of the opening, which is to give you more of the story. There are more difficult versions of other missions that open up but they're optional.

Hmm, maybe I misremembered. It's been years. It might have been the optional replays I'm thinking of then.

If you played Peace Walker I think you did have to replay a fair few missions on that in order to gain the full ending. (Which I never did lol)

This might be what I didn't like then. I'm a bit of a completionist (not hardcore 100% but I like upgrading everything) and replaying missions if I missed something I thought was a bit immersion-breaking.

yeah i agree, its also stupid you only get one shot at each specialist. i got that far in and needed more materials in quantities you can only get in those containers so had to go back and get the one guy who already died

Getting well into Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. Especially since i didnt actually watch the early series. So the episodes fighting Frieza and the Androids feels a little new to me. Now i am into the episode with Majin Buu. Again i know a little but not the whole story. Certainly passing some time before i look into Mass Effect Trilogy

Got invited to the back 4 blood closed beta which was a lot of fun. Closest we're gonna get to left 4 dead 3 anyways. Think open beta starts in a couple of days for anyone wanting to try it out. Shame the game will be charging a massive AAA-level £50 on release though. Especially when the next World war z in out in a month or two to scratch that zombie itch and will be a fair bit cheaper.

Just installed red dead redemption 2 again now I've got a massive 4k telly. Even on the base ps4 it looks mind blowing, does it have a ps5 upgrade that makes it even better looking? Played it when it first came out and can't wait to do it all over again and dig deeper in to the side missions I didn't bother with last time, and go catch some proper fish. One thing I'm not looking forward to is tapping x to sprint and having to walk around the camp until I get past the invisible barrier that let's you go faster.

Nah nothing about a next gen update yet, you would hope it will be next on Rockstars list after the GTA5 updates

Being an n64 guy I never played Crash Bandicoot back in the day. Picked up the remastered trilogy and the 4th game for a combined £40 the other week and have since sunk my teeth into Crash 1.

Great game. I’ve defeated the main boss and am now going back collecting the gems. Just got the red gem by completing Slippery Slope earlier. That was tough but fun. I believe Crash 1 is the toughest game? Either way, it’s great fun and a lot better than I thought it would be.
