Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Up to a point. They'll drop points on Mar 29th Why? Because I think they'll keep pushing us and motivating us to keep winning and staying well clear of them, Conversely, they will maintain that all important gap to 3rd, which isn't inconsiderable and maybe Derby and QPR will lose heart and start battling it out for a play-off place. By the end of the season I could see the us and Burnley well clear of the rest. Think of them as a kind of buffer (no offence intended Lancyclaret ) All conjecture of course and we just have to concentrate on our own games, but it doesn't hurt to be pushed... especially if there's only one team doing the pushing is all I'm saying.
AKCJ Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Derby dropping points doesn't bother me because I know we're good enough to do the business by ourselves.
hackneyfox Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Derby dropping points doesn't bother me because I know we're good enough to do the business by ourselves. Agreed but it's always a good thing when Derby drop points.
ScouseFox Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 everyone else in the league can do whatever they want we are so much better than them all put together it will never matter
DennisNedry Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 That's just stupid. I want us to be Champions, so come on you Blackburn!

I've never understood comments like this. I've often seen people say on these forums say things like "I'd rather have [team in second] focusing on [team in third] than looking to chase us". To me, the logic doesn't make sense. I don't think any teams ever think "we're enough points ahead now, we can relax and stop trying to win games", regardless of where they are in the league table. If they were battling it out for a play-off spot, then they'll still be trying to pick up 3 points a game anyway!
Rincewind Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 We only need to be one point above them. A bit obvious I know. We have a 8 points start so every point we get makes it harder as there are fewer games. I want to get to the stage where they need to win all their remaining games.
Russell sprout Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I seriously think when when play at turf more,We'll win 1-0 and though not mathematically I can picture the pundits on sky saying we've won the league,I honestly feel that even if we repeated the bad end of season form of last season that we have such a big difference to 3rd(derby) that at worst we would finish 2nd,but I agreed with Alan young when he felt we could go unbeaten for the rest of the season a couple of months back,I don't think man for man any other team can beat us imo?

How on Earth does Burnley winning mean we get a larger gap to third!? And why in the blue hell would teams start to take their foot off the gas if they believe they only have a play-off place to play for!? I would much rather us continue our glorious way of playing football and not worry about what other teams are doing......so.....erm........come on Blackburn!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I want us to win the league, but I honestly wouldn't mind coming second to Burnley. Certainly an admirable club for what Dyche has done there, reminds me of Blackpool a few seasons back but a lot more likable, for us at least.

Certainly an admirable club for what Dyche has done there, reminds me of Blackpool a few seasons back but a lot more likable, for us at least. Really? Of course promotion is the end-goal for us, but after leading the table for so long, playing the football we've played this season, and with the gap we've established, would you honestly be happy with second? I know once in the Premiership it makes no difference, as Hull/Cardiff have shown this season, but I'd really hate for us not to go up as champions this year. I like Burnley too, and would be happy to see them promoted this season, but only as second to us.
Pegosteve Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Must admit promotion will do no matter how we do it, but would be gutted if we didn't win this league now. All indicators are that we should get over 100 points if we carry on any of season form, last 6 game form and last 12 game form. 2 points per game will see us get there. Burnley can only afford to drop 5 points to get 100. Even our worst run of 13 games from 17 Sept to 11 Dec (included 4 defeats) we yielded 25 points! Ive even convinced myself now, nobody will catch us.

lancyclaret Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 After Derby's slip-up, I'd be more than happy with a point today. But the most important thing is we avoid injuries and red cards. In the last few games, Trippier and Ings have come in for some shocking tackles. I still think Leicester will win the league by 10 points or more. Beat us and QPR, it could be 20 points.
Happy Fox Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 2nd! F**king hell we should win the league in style, and rightly so.
weller54 Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Burnley will go up, no doubt!!.. And I'm pleased for them... But we'll win the league by a country mile!!!
Fox92 Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 2nd! F**king hell we should win the league in style, and rightly so. Agreed! Think it will be a draw today.

crisp packet Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Why all the love for Burnley? Fcuk them all ... We are the best team in the league and will prove to be worthy champions. Best thing to happen to this club was losing at Watford the way we did??? Pulled us all together!! COYB (and Blackburn today?)
sdb Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Would like them to come up with us but certainly all for a B'burn win today. I want us to keep winning and OPR, Burnley and Derby to drop as many points as possible for the next month. I don't want even a hint of drama before May.
Buzzell Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I couldn't give a toss who finishes 2nd, not too bothered about people catching us aslong as we keep winning. As for finishing 2nd, I would rather us not mess this up and go up as Champions, destroying this league rather then playing catch up with whoever was in first.
