MGLCFC Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 the martyrs need to look at it like this, would you go to the cinema to watch a film you knew was crap? But the quality of football at the KP this year has been excellent. Why wait 'til March to see it. You wouldn't start watching an excellent film at the Cinema after 60 minutes!!!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 the martyrs need to look at it like this, would you go to the cinema to watch a film you knew was crap? They're not martyrs You go to a game in the hope of however shit you are today will be the day it all turns good. In our relegation season for example, we were desperately crap yet still beat WBA, Watford and Norwich by 4 goals. Martyrs? no. Addicts? Yes
David Lowe Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I didn't go to the Man City game but will be going to the Yeovil one. What does that make me? A Yeovil fan?
Jace Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I don't really see how fans expect to have the same number of fans turn out for every game if you were playing MK Dons in League 1 would you really expect the same number for Man City in a Quarter Cup final?
Fox92 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 It's no coincidence that we do well and everybody starts coming to games. Doesn't bother me too much like. The only thing that annoys me is when these people turn up late and then sit near me and talk all game about something that's not football.

To be fair that happens regardless of how well we're doing (in my experience) and I'll never understand it.
StanSP Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 You're a plastic Stan. Face it. ST holder A Yeovil fan? I laughed at Ashley's. Laughed more at DavieG's. Then David Lowe all beat you . This is about plastic fans, not plastic Stans. I will also be going to Yeovil match, cos it is cheap. I'm going cos it's the only one my dad can get to for his birthday. I'm just happy that I get to see Leicester. Whether it's one match, 3 matches, all matches in a season, there's no questioning my love for the club as a fan. Just like anyone else's.

In our relegation season for example, we were desperately crap yet still beat WBA, Watford and Norwich by 4 goals. Martyrs? no. Addicts? Yes this is my problem. the hardcore regulars go because they want to, they enjoy it. it's not a job, a chore or something negative. so how can they claim some moral superiority when they're actively choosing to do something they enjoy? it's bananas. now if they'd been cleaning sewers for years and suddenly everyone wanted to join in, they might have a point.
Charl91 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Why does anyone care about how "plastic" other fans are? If you didn't enjoy the "struggle", why would you go?
Maybes Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 It's the same with every football club. That's life. The ground looks better when it's full anyhow.
yorkie1999 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 i think he was trying to make a point about some booing at half time, which seems to be more apparent the more fans that turn up,which led on to the plastic fan stuff.
Scoobyrob Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I live in Birmingham and if I come and bring the family it's expensive. It's not fair to them if I come on my own cause they miss out. So I don't come at all except the odd game. However when my credit card is finally paid off later this year I will come to a few more. This will be in the Prem so I guess I am plastic too. I have been to the Barnsley and Millwall home games and am coming to Doncaster. I used to do most home games.

There's not lot of difference between cleaning sewers and what we've had to endure in our recent history.
kingfox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Plastic fans are wankers. There will be a whole bunch of youths turn up or adults with kids, just to see the opposition, call our players crap, go downstairs every 30 mins for food & drink, then piss off 10 mins before full time. If I get any people like that near me next season, I'll be having words.
Xen Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I'm in a situation where I *could* afford to go to more games, but it would put me in a difficult (but not un-manageable) situation financially (I'm a student, and not one of those bankrolled by Mum and Dad). I go when I can, but that's not very often. If I am going to go to games, I'll pick the ones that are of a bigger appeal to me. 9 time out of 10 that's going to be a prem team if possible over a lower championship one. Does that make me a 'plastic'? I will be going to the Doncaster game if I can get tickets, that's for sure. I've never had a season ticket (again, money related), yet I might be in a situation next year where I can finally get one. I can guarantee you now that I'll be (falsely) branded as a glory supporter or plastic if I do, purely because of timing.
Mark_w Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 i think he was trying to make a point about some booing at half time, which seems to be more apparent the more fans that turn up,which led on to the plastic fan stuff. Plenty of the loyal week in week out fans were booing one of our own players as he was being substituted onto the pitch when we were winning 5-1(?) last year, it's hardly a new problem. We just haven't heard a lot of it this year because we're ripping every team in the division to pieces.
Bettsj2 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 i think he was trying to make a point about some booing at half time, which seems to be more apparent the more fans that turn up,which led on to the plastic fan stuff. This. Roy's beef was that people who dont ordinarily come, turn up when all is rosey and then boo at the first opportunity. I dont think there can be an argument in favour of this? The rest of it was really The Bourne Supremacy and Youngy just putting words in his mouth. Then you had people ringing saying 'Roy is wrong. I'm in the army and cant make it' etc. it was obviously not aimed at those people. It was aimed at people who live in the City that wouldnt have dreamed of going to Northampton at home in League 1 but are happy to boo at half time when we're on the verge of promotion.
Istilllovefilbert Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I was really annoyed about the plastic fans call. I would never slag anyone off for following city. When I got my first season ticket we were shit under Pleat and the crowd averaged crowd was around 12k I think. Does that mean half the average attendance now are plastic fans? No? The only plastic twats are those that DO turn up in the home seats to watch the other team.
davieG Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 i think he was trying to make a point about some booing at half time, which seems to be more apparent the more fans that turn up,which led on to the plastic fan stuff. Booing happens depending on the performance no matter how many fans are there. It wasn't that long ago I saw a bunch of fans in the kop berating people for not singing yet when we eventually managed only a draw most of those doing the berating could be seen booing the team off at the end. When you get crowds between 20k and 30k you get a massive mix of fan type all with different problems and aspirations in life it's hardly surprising that there's a plethora of reasons why the crowd levels fluctuate. Sure they'll be some that aren't really lcfc fans but come to see the opposition even if they're not opposition fans, strange as it may seem some people like watching football because they just like watching good football and have no allegiance to any club, All this talk of plastic fans is just so much bollocks.
Master Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I think this is part of what it's called being a 'big' club. There is no so such thing as a glory hunting Leicester fan. People just need something to moan about.
StanSP Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I'm in a situation where I *could* afford to go to more games, but it would put me in a difficult (but not un-manageable) situation financially (I'm a student, and not one of those bankrolled by Mum and Dad). I can guarantee you now that I'll be (falsely) branded as a glory supporter or plastic if I do, purely because of timing. That's a shame cos I've been in a similar situation. In uni at London from 2009-2012, had a Saturday job as well until this weekend and so could only go to 4-5 games a season. Also considering a season ticket and NOT because it's Premier League next season. But who cares about circumstances eh ?
Matt Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I understand not everyone can get to every game for one reason or another but I find it very coincidental that these people can turn up at the same time when its going well but 'can't' when it's not going so well.
