tickler28 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 With Burnley still picking up points despite their injury problems and a relatively easy home game against Middlesbrough on Saturday the gap could be down to just 3 points Saturday afternoon with us still to play Reading (fighting to stay in the playoffs) on Monday evening. The league in my opinion is far from won but after tonight's performance do the players care? Have they got the desire and hunger to see the job through or is promotion alone job done? Thoughts?
ScouseFox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 i would've gone for the whole "nige won't let them take the piss they'll still be at it every day in training etc" but clearly tonight proved that's not true
HEGGSY Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I care. Top since Boxing Day. We can't lose it now. Then again, I think we'll beat reading.
Bayfox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Well I ****ing do. Would be such a shame having lead since boxing day. Not to finish the job.
tickler28 Posted 8 April 2014 Author Posted 8 April 2014 Bemused really....maybe Burnley will take it easy once they're mathematically up as well (which won't be long) Be interesting to see if their players get carried away and get thrashed next game
SomalianFox15 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Love to win the league but wouldnt be too bothered if we didn't .
Harry - LCFC Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I care and I'm sure the players care. Not going to make too much of tonight.
AKCJ Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I believe so.. But I think it was a mistake to be at the training ground drinking champagne and having a party a day before a football game. Why couldn't they have waited til after the game tonight? I can't help but laugh when I heard people say "we're focused for Tuesday" and the like because we were still in the pub and that was totally unacceptable.
Babylon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Of course they do, we all do. Tonight was very predictable though all things considered, at least I made a few bob.
tickler28 Posted 8 April 2014 Author Posted 8 April 2014 My experiences of Leicester away at Reading = poor
MC Prussian Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Well, if they somehow manage to let a six-point lead slip away with five games remaining, then you might slate them at the end of the season for that ineptitude. Before that happens, I'd rather look forward to the last few games than starting to get all too concerned. Shit happens - tonight's loss might as well act as a much-needed wake-up call, as we've ridden our luck a bit in previous games.
Jakemoore Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 No. We couldn't care less. Clearly.. Don't panic. Our players were smashed! We'll win the league
leicesterseddon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Couldn't really give a shit if I'm honest. Promotion is the only real prize in this league. Winning the league is a nice touch, but it's a rather meaningless pot. It's not even that much of an indicator that you'll stand a better chance of staying up, if recent seasons are anything to go by...
tickler28 Posted 8 April 2014 Author Posted 8 April 2014 I think we'll do it but would have liked to have seen a bit more professionalism from the lads. Wait until the league is won before you get smashed out of your brains!! In a weird sort of way promotion being sorted for us Saturday did us no favours at all and is why we lost tonight. There's no way we the players would have played like that tonight if promotion hadn't been secured.
ceredigion Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 We should definitely care about winning the League. This would be our 7th league title at this level and we would equal Manchester City's record if we win it. And let's face it, we're more likely than they are to win it for an 8th time at some point in the future. The last time we won this division was in 1980, so you have to be in your forties to remember it. I do remember it. Winning the title would become part of the history of the club and part of the heritage which future fans will inherit. We will never win the Premier League and I'm sure no-one wants to see us back in the Third Division winning that one, so this is the only league we can win. Don't underestimate its importance.
Poznan34 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I do and I think the players do. We'll see a reaction at Reading.

Witch Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 i would've gone for the whole "nige won't let them take the piss they'll still be at it every day in training etc" but clearly tonight proved that's not true The lads fvcked one, I repeat one match, because they were a bit tired after celebrating a promotion, and you already think Nige will let them going around, drinking and doing nothing till the end of the season? No, seriously? Jesus. Do you really thing Nigel Pearson is that crappy manager?

No, seriously? Jesus. Do you really thing Nigel Pearson is that crappy manager? yeah so if Nige was going to go with his whole "every match is still important we've got a job to do" plan they wouldn't even be celebrating until the 3rd of may. I've got no problem with them celebrating we're up they could play the next 5 games high as a kite or fücked out their brains for all I care as long as we win the league.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I care and I'm sure the players care. Not going to make too much of tonight.I agree HarryAt least I hope I do
Leicesterpool Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I think it's important, i actually think it would put a bit of a dampener on all the good work we've worked on this season. Think of it like a cup final, would you really wanna finish runner up?

Wouldn't say mboro is an easy game - 3 wins on the trot and won 4 of the last 7 meetings with burnley. Utimately we need 10 points, if burnley draw one and lose one (and with mboro, Ipswich, Wigan and reading to play you'd expect them to drop a couple of points a least) then two wins is enough, and we're more than capable of that. We were poor, and clearly hungover from the weekend, and there can be no excuses for that, but the title is still very much ours to lose, and the players would definitely care; the team spirit and desire to win has been evident for many a game this season.

Donut Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The players care, its winning a league after all and that opportunity doesnt come along very often. It would leave a slightly sour taste (slightly) if we didnt go on to win the league, but as much as anything, id like us to carry some good positive momentum into the premiership now and show we mean business next season
