Stadt Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Yes because height dictates a player's technical attributes...Well no because we're talking about target men here
GingerrrFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Well no because we're talking about target men here Chris Wood is 6ft 4inches and doesn't play anything like a target man. Steve Howard similar height and physical attributes, plays like a target man. Height doesn't mean a thing.
Itsthejoeker Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Liverpool are getting Rickie Lambert for £9m, and Brighton want £10m for this guy?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Hi. The reason he hasn't thrown his toys out is because he has made it perfectly clear that he loves the club and city and his family who don't speak English love the area as well and Ulloa has siad many times that he doesn't want to leave but will, only if the club don't want him anymore. Ulloa can speak broken English now and one of the reasons why he came to us was because of Poyet and the fact we had 6 other spainsh players so that was a massive pull factor as well. It's not all about money for him, he's the type to think about his family first and formost. The club can agree a fee with you but he can always say no as players have in the past from different clubs. All the best in the premiership. Well, I didn't realize Brighton was a City. I always thought it was a seaside town. Anyway, I hope Brighton do well next season, with or without Ulloa.
XLM Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Although the price is a bit excessive, he is an impressive target man. Very silky player too. If we pay £6 million for him then so be it. Austin cost QPR 7, Gayle cost palace 6 etc. It's the going rate for a decent striker unfortunately. With that said, if there's any truth in Cardozo considering us I'd absolutely love to see that monster here. Ulloa seems a bit soft.
Gary Eatfood Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Well, I didn't realize Brighton was a City. I always thought it was a seaside town. Anyway, I hope Brighton do well next season, with or without Ulloa. Brighton is a seaside town, in the city of Brighton and Hove. So you were right!

Height doesn't mean a thing.Chris Wood isn't a target man.Generally a taller target man is a better one and of course there are some exceptions.

GingerrrFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Chris Wood isn't a target man. Generally a taller target man is a better one and of course there are some exceptions. Exactly the point I was making about Chris Wood. Height means nothing if the player isn't technically suited to playing as a hold up striker. Height has little influence on making a good "target man".

VLC86 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Yes because height dictates a player's technical attributes... Well let's be honest it is normally a good indicator when it's a striker isn't it?
Stadt Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Usually a 6'5 target man us going to win more in the air than somebody that's 6'1
GingerrrFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Usually a 6'5 target man us going to win more in the air than somebody that's 6'1 Not a chance. It depends on much more than height. A "target man" needs to be able to read play, have good anticipation of the balls movement, good spatial awareness, strength, jumping ability, control/touch etc. Jamie Vardy is better in the air than Chris Wood and he's much shorter. Marko Futacs is one of the biggest strikers I've seen play for Leicester City and he was dire. If all things are equal then yes height is a factor but it's not the most important thing by a long stretch.

NathanC93 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Pete O'Rourke @SkySportsPeteO Leicester City have had a £5million bid for Leonardo Ulloa rejected by Brighton. #LCFC #BHAFC
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Pete O'Rourke @SkySportsPeteO Leicester City have had a £5million bid for Leonardo Ulloa rejected by Brighton. #LCFC #BHAFC Not even worth that. Move on please
Bettsj2 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Pete O'Rourke @SkySportsPeteO Leicester City have had a £5million bid for Leonardo Ulloa rejected by Brighton. #LCFC #BHAFC Just leave it.
Happy Fox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Wouldn't pay anymore than that oh well there are better caliber of players than him that we could get with that money.
artursteppe Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I've heard Lambert from Southampton to Liverpool for £4M plus add-ons, done deal.. If true, then what price Ulloa? ( Not had that deal verified to me yet ). Edit:- Seems to be true, Lambert having medical on Saturday. 32 years old, two year deal. ( And we've had an offer of £5M turned down for Ulloa ??????????????????????).
lcfcsnow Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Maybe we can add Wood to the deal as he clearly won't be playing if Ulloa comes in, he did alright there on loan. This is our own fault for spouting how much money we plan on spending though. I don't particularly rate him, either.
Brighton Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not even worth that. Move on please Not to you maybe but he's priceless to us.

We won't want Woods back here as we've had him on loan for a season and wasn't good.
