Leonardo Ulloa (Brighton) - Bid accepted

Personally I think we need a quality striker with at least some experience in a top division in this country or another to go into the new season with.

That would be nice, but they got big bucks and we don't know what our budget is.

He's played in La Liga and had a decent record too.

Hull showed last season that it can be done! Long and Jelavic for the same prices that Brighton have rejected for Ulloa!

I stand corrected on that then but I still believe premier experience would be preferable

I would be very disappointed if we shelled out that sort of cash for Lambert. Not much different to

Andy Carroll except the latter is a few years lighter.

You are joking aren't you.  A current England team member who's stats are for last season

GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS 37 13 10

103

for 4 mil and you say he is no better than Andy Carroll!  great judge. NOT

He'll only ever go to Liverpool - boyhood club but got released when he was 15

Good bit of squad business for Liverpool.

But we don't know what our budget is compared to theirs, the owners despite their bluster could want some cash back. We could have been told we'd meet FFP when we aren't going to and could get a fine. There could be several reasons as to why we wouldn't spend the money they did.

Also, Long and Jelavic scored 4 each for Hull last season. Without looking back again I think Jelavic scored 7 and 4 in the last two seasons. Long something like 8 and 7. Hardly prolific considering the fees and wages they are probably pulling in.

Also, lets not forget what league these two were from before Everton and West Brom signed them.... Scotland and the Championship. Two leagues people don't want us to sign players from.

So true.

I'm not fussed if we give them what they want for him be it six million or eight.

I say give Big Nige what he wants.

And if that's Ulloa - so be it.

We may have a transfer budget to adhere to.

True but lets hope common sense prevails regardless of what happens.

Well I'm not sure what you class as 'Common Sense' in this instance - if he is the man to bring us success in the managers opinion then that's a lot of pennies if he's right.

I wouldn't be comfortable us paying 'any amount' for him of course not but if we were to get him for 8 million I would be happy the manager got his main target despite preferring us to pay less.

Happy Fox, it is important to remember in all this that we are after-all, massive.

Also, if Ulloa is our top striker target for the new season does anybody think this had any slight implication on Upson being a transfer target too?

An ex-teammate would help - based on what that Brighton fan further up the thread said about Ulloa's English -a non-fluent speaker settle in more comfortably as well as Upson lending invaluable experience off the pitch. Just a thought.

I registered as SteveLCFC on the Brighton site just to ask questions about Ulloa, wasn't trying to wind them up but the sh*te they spout about us is unbelievably ignorant.

They banned me for nothing
