Col city fan Posted 20 May 2015 Share Posted 20 May 2015 Bloody shame Sunderland have stayed up. Another season where we can't sign Lee Cattermole.. Edit...who again tonight did his job (DM) extremely well IMO. Wouldn't surprise me if he's their player of the season.

phg Posted 21 May 2015 Share Posted 21 May 2015 Arsenal really can be shocking at breaking down a well organised defence sometimes. Just pass it around the outside of the area waiting for the opposition to part. Gotta give the Dutchman credit for getting Blunderland organized I guess? ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 21 May 2015 Share Posted 21 May 2015 Glad Sunderland have stopped up, they're guaranteed to once again finish bottom 5 next year imo. Newcastle could get a proper manager and some better players and be comfortable mid table, would rather they dropped. See I disagree, I think Newcastle will continue to make the same mistakes if they stay up! Sunderland with Advocaat in charge and a few additions would be the more likely to do that in my opinion. TOMBlcfc Posted 21 May 2015 Share Posted 21 May 2015 Thought people would be interested to see this from whoscored. Our very own Morgan among the best, think he has come under a lot of harsh criticism when he's had a pretty good season
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2015 Share Posted 22 May 2015 So Liverpool cancel a meeting with Raheem Sterling about comments made by his agent: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32832999 This is getting a wee bit silly now.

The grief that Morgan has recieved on this forum is quite remarkable. Look at the 'Calamity Morgan' thread for details. So so reactionary.
Unabomber Posted 22 May 2015 Share Posted 22 May 2015 Morgan has looked great with Huth, it was unfair to chuck him in to the prem with no player with premier league experience next to him. Man think back when he was having to concentrate on his own game and babysit Moore too. He was bound to look calamitous when he was having to defend for two. Playing with Huth in between them has helped Was and Wes shine and show what they are truly capable of.

Look at the 'Calamity Morgan' thread for details. So so reactionary. The grief he received in the weeks and month BH (Before Huth) was understandable. He looked out of his depth as club captain, somewhat slow and oftentimes a step too late. Coupled with some comical defending, the criticism was not uncalled for. Foxymcoxy Posted 22 May 2015 Share Posted 22 May 2015 To be fair you can be hard to dribble past and still be a shit defender. He was very poor for a while, no point pretending otherwise...

Two points..It was the nature of some of the criticism. .very hostile. Second... There was an awful lot of guff written at the time about 'defensive errors'. I made the point, along with others than defensive errors come with PRESSURE. The pressure of playing a crap system and players not supporting each other. Since the formation changed and Huth has gotten fit, where have the 'defensive errors' gone? Answer: they've just about vanished. Why? We've been under less pressure. It ain't rocket science MC. IMO the so called "comedy defending" was the fault of comedy goalkeeping where Schmeichel had an allergy to coming off his line to collect or punch, meaning our defence faced far more 2nd balls in the box than they needed to, causing Morghan to have to last ditch tackle all the time. Schmeichel has since sorted his game out. And yet more of this "comedy defending" was the result of never-ending pressure because our midfield just failed to track opposition midfield runs, meaning Morgan had to leave the opposing forward, to dive/slide to try and get a block on the opposition midfielders chance. This. It's no surprise that Morgan has made ZERO defensive errors since the changes. No coincidence whatsoever. He's more assured, there's less pressure, we have tightened up defensively and it's had a positive impact on the whole team.
