Fraizer Campbell

Decent player,ok for 800k. Goal scoring record is a little pants though.

9 goals in a team who finished bottom. Just shows he's capable of chipping in, which is all we need.

If this is Nugent's replacement then it's a good deal, but if they're all staying then our selection of strikers are much of a muchness. It's essential we have quality, not quantity up front.

Amazes me how seemingly everyone wants our top scorer (20) and the bloke who lead our assist charts (13?) last season to not be in the starting XI next season. To top it off they think a guy that has had one good season at Championship level after coming from the conference should be ahead of him. Madness.

My main concern is we're not improving, we're filling the squad with much of the same. Upson is no improvement on what we had, is Campbell? We need better options, not just more options.

Micky Adams made this mistake in 2003, filling the squad with bang average players. Difference is we have the funds and a scouting system now, so there's no need whatsoever to make the same mistake.

The additions up to now have strengthened those positions.

Hamer better than Logan

Upson better than Whitbread and SSL

Albrighton gives us more winger options

Campbell if we get him, better than Waghorn and Wood.

All these new signings brought in whilst spending next to nothing.

The transfer window has been open five days, if you think every signing is going to be to replace someone in the first team and will be a multi million pound signing then you are going to be left disappointed.

We need a squad of 25 and up to now Pearson has strengthened that squad without spending much at all. When he needs to spend big I'm pretty sure he will, but for now I think he is being very clever in the transfer market by bringing in premier league experience on the cheap whilst still improving the squad.

good point, with just over 2 and a half months left to go until the premier league starts we're starting to panic buy!

how do you know campbell and upson are mistakes? as you point out we have a scouting network, that in the last few seasons has found some very good players. maybe upson and Campbell have been reviewed by said scouting network and deemed good enough.

just because we're not blowing 15 mil on every player and their not messi & ronaldo, does not mean their not good enough and previous mistakes are being repeated?

maybe a little faith in the manager that has put us in this position, at least until the first 6 games have been played, might be needed.

Fraizer Campbell a player in his prime worth 800 Grand is a bargain imo strikers that have scored the same amount of him this season are Soldado brought for 26million, Shane Long 7m.

How much "quality" do you need? Spread across the board, with three to four strikers capable of getting 8 to 12 goals each (in the best case), we should be just fine.

I'd rather have several players capable of delivering the goods than having to rely on one sole "star" striker up front.

Besides, our midfield will certainly chuck in a few, too.

On the daily mail isnt it?

I'm sorry, but before I have seen them kick a few balls in a couple of PL games, I'd refrain from calling our signings or our signing strategy "bang average".

Some random bloke who works as a freelance football journalist for the Daily Mail, Sunday Mirror, and Sky Sports. He is the same person who wrote the article about the bid on the Mail's site. Not saying it's definitely going through, but the guy is legit.

completely agree. In addition we know that the management team will be looking for people who fit into the team dynamic...we've all seen what happens to clubs who flood the ranks with alleged big time players, big cost, big wage players

Another pacey striker to go with Vardy, also top scorer for Cardiff last season. For £800k you can't complain, assuming he doesn't want astronomical wages.

Yes, apologies. I only saw the original tweet from him... one look through is previous ones and he looked like another Indy Kaila.

Yes well I hadn't seen the article... but for the record Indy Kaila says he's a freelance journo on his twitter account!

It was Simon Jones from the Daily Fail that wrote an article on the 23rd May saying we'd bid £1m.  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2637828/Cradiff-striker-Frazier-Campbell-subject-1m-bid-Leicester-City.html

Now weeks later a person writing for the same shitty paper says we've just bid 800k

That pretty much wrecks the creditability of both stories at the minute.

But it has been widely reported that he has a release clause of 800 Grand, so it seems like we have met it either way.

You seem to have missed the point I was making.

Oh baby I hear the blues are calling, tossed salad and scrambled eggs....

I'm sure on their crossbar challenge he introduced himself in Kelsey Grammar's voice. Great signing at that price anyway, after some of the previous years battles with Cardiff it would be nice to nick one of their better players too.
