MrSpaM Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I'd take him for that sort of money tbh. Vardy and Campbell up front would be a pretty scary combination for a lot of defences, even in the PL.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 With all this exciting talk about release clauses, I've realised I've not got the foggiest idea of how they work in practice. I understand that a bid from the buying club can trigger the release cause, but does that oblige the selling club to sell to them even if a higher bid then comes in from elsewhere?
lgfualol Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Yes and not bad, even though he's not huge. From what I read written by Cardiff fans, it seemed to describe someone very Vardy like. Ooo him and Vardy would be decent up top.
Happy Fox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 We needed another pacey striker and he fits the bill perfectly get a target man such as Cardozo and are f**king laughing all the way to finishing easily 11th.

A higher bid wouldn't come in, once the clause has been met the player is free to begin speaking to the bidding club. It is up to the player then whether he stays at his current club or moves to the club who have matched his release clause
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I'm not going to write him off before he's played for us because I'm not a weapon, but I'd be lying if I said I was overwhelmed by this. I trust Nige, though.
crisp packet Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Competition for vardy. We missed vardys pace whilst he was out injured? For the money , why not...
Happy Fox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Cardiff City chairmen Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman insists the club had no choice but to accept Leicester's bid but is still hopeful the striker will decide to stay. He said: "Leicester City have made an offer which triggers a release clause in Fraizer's contract. "We don't want to sell him and would love him to stay but we had no choice because of the clause. "We have to allow Fraizer to make his own decision but hopefully he can stay." http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fraizer-campbell-leave-cardiff-city-7223130
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Why would he want to stay in the Championship under a club with no direction and an owner more crooked than Jerzy Dudek's beak?

It is up to the player then whether he stays at his current club or moves to the club who have matched his release clause That makes sense, thank you. We're in as strong a position as we can be, then. I remember him being good but must admit I've not seen him play much in the last couple of years
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Unfortuabtely this might alert other teams who'll bid the same £800k fee. I can see him having talks with a few before deciding
lcfcsnow Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 http://www.ccmb.co.uk/fudforum/index.php?t=msg&th=390421&start=0&rid=0 good luck to him, great attitude but cant finish consistently enough. Sounds familiar, maybe Kev Phillips can sort him out.
RowlattsFox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I find it a little strange that the release clause is as low as £800,000 most clauses are of a higher value than that. Like most, not sure about this but he would bring certain attributes.

Fox92 Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Always thought he was a decent striker, good in the air as well given his height. £800,000 doesn't seem so bad and we're in need of a striker(s).
dbtcity Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Sure I heard they signed him for 600k so 800k release is still a profit although not alot in these days
MC Prussian Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I reckon Nugent will be off now. I reckon he won't. But that's material for another thread. Fraizer Campbell would be more than decent and a worthy addition to our strikeforce.

Agreed, why would signing one striker mean another leaves? We need more quality not less. Campbell and a target man in, Chris Wood out (possibly loan, possibly permanent) would be my expectation.
halpart Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Wonder if Kaspar has got something similar in his contract ?? Yeah, he probably does, any player with value/potential value is likely to have one, but they are meant to be higher than their actual worth, so Kasper's may be £10-12 mil or something. And to whoever was asking about one club bidding higher than the other, it is a) unlikely that a club would be higher than another if the first club's bid was accepted (but that's not really the point), and b) if both clubs meet/exceed the release clause, then the club is obliged to allow the player to talk to both clubs

MPH Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Why would he want to stay in the Championship under a club with no direction and an owner more crooked than Jerzy Dudek's beak? Plus the fact that they have about 600 strikers. ...
............... Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Not sure why people are saying Campbell is a replacement for Nugent, different style of player IMO.
Jace Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 As much as I trust Nige he really does make the most under whelming signings.
