Bert Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Although I'm sure the contract is 2 years with an extra year option should he play so many games
Stevosevic Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Pearson took 8 months to negotiate his.... I'm not sure I saw too many posts complaining and stating he was holding the club to ransom.......... The fella only turned 29 in May - this is his peak and in two years time he knows he may not be signing another Prem contract - of course his representatives are gonna try and hold out for a three year deal - so what. Don't hate the player - hate the game. He signed before his deal expired.

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 This is just stupid. Why not 3 years he is our top scorer and the right age.On this basis why give Wes 3 years? The club have to accept that if players like Cambell are too expensive DN may be our best option.I'm sure we're in a minority but I agree with you. Really can't see the harm in a 3 year deal for him, top scorer and a huge part of all our attacking play last season. Strikers often peak at this sort of age and I don't think his game is gonna deteriorate any worse than Morgan's who as you said, did get 3 years. I'd be really gutted if he's allowed to walk.I think if he'd been at another championship team and had the season he'd just had people would happily want us to sign him!

Just a thought but praps the club only see him having 2 yrs max with us. If we spend 6 to 10m on a striker this year and on another next year I would think that will be the end of Nuge.
lgfualol Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 He's probably insisting on having a clause that means we'll pay him weekly until he is 90, like with the money he is taking off Portsmouth.

That's basically writing him off as not good enough already though so why bother offering him anything at all now?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Don't get why people are getting so wound up over this. He'll sign in the next few days. 2 years with an option for an extra one with appearances. It's just crossing the t's and dotting the i's.
sylofox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 That's basically writing him off as not good enough already though so why bother offering him anything at all now? No it is a case of building a stronger squad with the aim of getting into europe. Every club does it we have already done it this summer with Dyer. Do you think if we spend 6/10m on a striker he will warm the bench and Nuge and Vardy will continue.
Matt Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 When does/did his contract expire? I was always led to believe contracts usually end around the end of June/start of July? Now i've not took much notice with whats going on with pre-season training but is he there? If so, surely if he's out of contract he shouldn't be? If he was to leave after start pre-season training it'd be seen as 'using' us abit, i.e. - getting his fitness up for him future club, although on the other hand it keeps him fit should he resign for us. I'm just waffling on really, but my main questions are - When does his contract run out/Is he out of contract and is he in pre-season training.
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I'm just waffling on really, but my main questions are - When does his contract run out/Is he out of contract and is he in pre-season training. July 1st, currently on a rolling weekly contract. Hoping to get him on a permanent one soon.
Nick Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 He signed before his deal expired. Yes because the club offered him what he wanted and were prepared to discuss his contract as a priority above all the others........... Where do you get 8 months from. I seem to remember him saying last season that he would not talk contracts till the season was over. Or are you ITK. BBC stated talks had been going on for 8 months (but not necessarily directly with Pearson, with his representative) See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27983216
Fox seen in Norwich Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Maybe he's annoyed with the small print with regards the goal bonus on offer saying "Penalties don't count!"
Dr The Singh Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I think he is upset that the squirrel isn't included in the deal
Bert Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Could some of it be to do with the fact that Wes has been given 3 years who is a bit older than him?
Monsell1976 Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Could some of it be to do with the fact that Wes has been given 3 years who is a bit older than him?Probably but the lad has to take what's on offer to him, don't know the new figures but wes was probably on less, and still maybe.I just think it's turning into a bit of a farce, either he signs or moves on, sod this week to week contract. A little concerning how we are struggling to get one of our own to sign, let alone new players, is the new wage/ contract structure not flexible, in a way to keep the players we want, or push the boat out for the players Pearson wants.
harpendenfox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Ok. Two years. A free holiday in Thailand. A £200 voucher for the King Power duty free shop in Bangkok. Your own room on away trips. A free membership at the County. A ticket for the Space Centre for the nipper. My mum's recipe for lemon sorbet. Final offer
Bayfox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Deadly serious. He is only committed to the length of his contract. If he was committed to the Club he would try to negotiate a deal whereby there is an option for a third year if the Club take up that option and then do the business on the training ground and pitch that makes a compelling case for the Club to take up that option. Reasonable or not? This could be the case tho. Pearson himself said he expects it to be sorted. We have no idea what the small details pearson mentioned, may actually be. I know some will see the rolling contract as him just getting paid for pre season. But some would say it must mean he plans to stick around. If someone wanted lloyd you would think nudge could have got a deal for 4 years somewhere.
HowardsBulletHeader Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Could some of it be to do with the fact that Wes has been given 3 years who is a bit older than him? If I was Nuge this would be my issue. One of, if not the, most prolific in terms of goals and assists for the last few seasons and isn't getting the same terms as the other key squad members.
st albans fox Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Defenders have a longer playing career at the highest level than strikers. Wes will have more sell on value in two years than nuge. Clearly, NP feels his captain can hack it in the prem league more than nugent. These guys get paid a lot of dough and it's tough at the top. Either he gets over it or he moves on. I'm glad we're being business like over this - from my perspective, I'm not sure either of them will be a starter in two seasons time (assuming we are still up) and even next season nugent can look forward to the bench for long spells.
teblin Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 I'd also have thought that nuge was already on more money than wes
Jon the Hat Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Honestly dont see why we wouldn't give Nuge 3 years. The parachute payment cover it even if things go tits up, and with this team around him he will contribute 10 goals next season if he gets game time.
Tommy G Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 its going to be v embaressing for him next season if he doesnt produce the goods as he has whinged about his contract for months and if he finally gets his big pay day then notches 2 goals next season it won't be great

I just dont get the clubs logic.Fans will always like/dislike players and debate their worth.BUT on the evidence of last season Nuge was our top scorer and when you watch the end of season DVD his assists were vital for Vardy. We hope that Vardy can make another step up but i think he will need Nuge.If the club want him why to they value him less than all the other players who have signed new contracts its not his age,his return or his work rate.If he does not sign the club will be left having to bring in at least 2 strikers at huge cost more than one extra year for Nuge and NP keeps saying he wants people who fit in with the squad and Nuge does this. They should give some explanation as to their thinking either we him want or we dont but for f**k sake make up your minds and then tell the fans
