I'm sure they changed it only a few World Cups ago? They changed it when automatic qualification for previous winners was taken away. Must of been 2006, remember Senegal turning France over in the opening game of 2002? Sort of shits all over that record as well come to think of it ......are we sure the record isn't the host nation has never lost it's first game of a World Cup? I best go and check all this now as I could be wrong. Yeah France lost the first game of 2002 so must be host nation that's never lost an opener not the first game. And by opener they mean their particular opening game not the opening game of the tournament.

I mean, if Soccer Aid can be packed full at Old Trafford 2 hours before it kicks off, you'd think a World Cup Opener would do it.
