James Pearson currently training with oadby Town

Really? Would have thought he'd still live at home and would be looking in the Sheffield area for another club. Was training with Rotherham recently.

Sorry for the self-promotion but just reading the Cambiasso chat so I thought I'd write a piece on it. Didn't want to start a new topic so I posted it in here. Any opinions greatly appreciated!  :)

Hi mate,

You'll probably find it more useful to be told what you might want to concentrate on improving - so here goes.

Could do with editing – you repeat yourself a lot, saying the same thing over and again. Not sure if you realise that - what might help is write the bits you want to mention (in the order you want to mention them) on a piece of paper and then cross them off as you've dealt with it. The old adage about writing a short letter being harder than a long one is true – but keeping things concise is crucial to keep people reading.

Use adjectives more sparingly - especially superlative ones. Make them count. When reporting on something, adjectives are used for effect, for impact. For example, if you've already made the point that King and Drinkwater's performances were "outstanding showings" and describing in detail why, there's no need to call them "sparkling performances" in the following para.

Those two points come to mind first - but please take them as constructive feedback!

Love seeing fan-generated content, especially about LCFC! Keep it up mate - there is much, much more good about your piece than bad!!

Ex-Premier League footballer Stephen Hughes 5 times over drink-drive limit in van crash

Scottish international Hughes played more than 60 times for Rangers, and also played for Premier League clubs Leicester City and Norwich City

Ban: Hughes was found to have an alcohol reading of 121 microgrammes

A former Premier League footballer ploughed his van into a pedestrian railing while five times over the drink-drive limit.

Scotland international Stephen Hughes, who played Leicester City and Norwich City, admitted charges of drink driving and careless driving near his home.

The 32-year-old, who also played more than 60 times for Rangers, gave his address as a tower block in Motherwell.

He was banned from driving for 15 months and told to pay a £700 fine, at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

The midfielder lost control of his van, which mounted the kerb and hit a metal railing, reports the Daily Record.

He was found to have an alcohol reading of 121 microgrammes.

Claim: An allegation that he failed to co-operate with a breath test was dropped

Hughes – despite his years of high earnings from football – was allowed to pay the fine at £10 a fortnight.

An allegation that he failed to co-operate with a breath test was dropped.

Hughes, who made more than 300 senior appearances in a successful football career, is without a club since a trial with Ladbrokes League 2 side Clyde ended without a permanent deal.

A source said: “Stephen has disappeared from the scene and his football career seems to be over a bit early.

“It’s a shame. He was rated as one of the most promising footballers of his generation and at 32 he could easily still be playing football at a senior level.”

Hughes declined to comment when approached by the Sunday Mail.

His court appearance last month is the former star’s latest brush with the law involving drink-related offences.

Hughes was fined £250 in January last year at the same court after he admitted struggling with police during a boozy night out.

He had been drinking with friends in Motherwell in March 2013 when trouble erupted and the police were called.

Hughes was arrested and charged with attacking PC Jordan Henderson in the town’s Muir Street.

At his court appearance 10 months later, he admitted repeatedly shouting, swearing, uttering threats and struggling with police.

But his not guilty plea to assaulting Constable Henderson was accepted.

Hughes was fined £200 in April 2005 at Hamilton Sheriff Court for swearing at cops and grappling with them during a night out with pals.

The officers had spotted him urinating behind a pub in Motherwell in the early hours of the morning.

In November 2004, Hughes appeared at the same court and was fined £450 after admitting driving his mum’s car without insurance.

Five months earlier, six people were arrested after Hughes was allegedly beaten up in a street brawl outside a pub in Wishaw.

It is understood Hughes has not played first-team football since May 2014.

His career also took him to Motherwell, MK Dons, Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Dundee and East Fife.

He made his only appearance for Scotland against Japan in 2009.

Ex Premier League player? He played for us between 05 and 07, and he was signed by Norwich when they were in League One.

Maybe they mean Scottish Premier League - he did play in that.

This being the Daily Mail though, I doubt it....

Not a player but ex manager Paulo Sousa is at Fiorentina who are currently sitting top of the Serie A table, 2 points clear of Inter.

He didn't do much here but he's by far the most handsome manager we've ever had.

Martin Waghorn named Scottish Championship player of the month, has 14 goals so far. Perhaps found his level?

Nah, let's not be overly harsh on him. He would be good in the Scottish Prem, just like he was a decent player at Championship level with us. We did pay way way over the odds for him though!

I guess that puts us even for ripping off Sunderland when they bought Piper
