( just about to sign the lad from boro that I cannot spell with out looking it up . We need to get moving now , I am sure NP will have something up his sleeve. Up the city

Just because haven't signed as many players as another club, doesn't mean there has to be panic on the streets. Nigel will not jump in, and I'm pleased about that. This squad have just won us promotion for the first time in ten years, and yes we need a little bit of quality here and there, but it doesn't mean we have to go out and buy ten players. That's the wrong way to go about it.
Captain... Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 In short no. Deeney at £6.5M? Ridonculous No more so than £10m for Ulloa, Deeney would be a decent signing for them. Jutkiewicz, 9 goals last season Sordell, 8, won't be striking much fear into the premiership defences. As for their other signings, I'd take Matt Taylor, always rated him even if he is getting on, Kightly doesn't count as a new signing as they had him on loan last season, Matt Gilks, assume that is as back up, Steven Reid, experience but at 33 and only playing a handful of games for West Brom last season, not a game changer. The fact they've signed 2 strikers and are looking at another makes me thinks they will lose Ings, and signing a right back with Trippier on many teams radars they could definitely be losers overall in the transfer market.

The standard of the EPL is something that loads of new players adjust to year after year after year. Adam Lallana came up from the Championship. Southampton spent £15m on Pablo Osvaldo but then ended up playing Rickie Lambert ahead of him all season. Jozy Altidore cost Sunderland £6.5m from Alkmaar and got 1 goal in 31 games. Ricky. Van. Wolfs. Winkel. I think that Kasper, De Laet, Schlupp, Moore, Morgan, Drinky, James, Albrighton, Mahrez, Knocky, Nugent and Vardy are all already good enough for the Premier League. That's 12 players. We out-classed Burnley when we played them towards the end of last season. And QPR (twice). We don't need to make big changes.

Defence isn't that old, Schlupp, Moore and De Laet are far from old and Morgan is in his prime. If your talking about the backup then they will not be playing too many games, I expect Moore will be the preferred option. At the end of the day the first choice defence is relatively young. I would say this team is far better than the one that got relegated that season
Corky Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Adams used to have Scowcroft on the wing for Walker to launch the ball up to for him to head it towards the strikers, boring tactics and we had no fluidity. We don't though have a set piece taker with the quality of Izzet. Although, we threw away so many points with late goals. Yes, we were thumped now and then, but we managed to compete in a lot of games, I don't see that as being beyond this group.
