So would I.

I have a feeling we wanted the two million to go towards a better striker, but yes you are right a loan would have got his wages out of the way and if he played well enough for the loan side we may have got more for him.

What did you pay for him? I've heard both £1m and £2m from the Leicester fans I work with.

£1 million up front and then a possible further £1 million in add ons we are led to believe which I'm sure a sizeable chunk will now have been paid due to promotion. This however hasn't been confirmed as Pearson said up until this summer we haven't spent more than £1.2 million on a player.

I think it was in between the 2

Shocking business if under 2M given the price we have paid and have been quoted for unproven Premiership Strikers and older Strikers from the Championship.  Unless we get someone in and with Vardy injured, we will be left very short up front. Not exactly an ideal situation going into the biggest season for 10 years. Still, we must trust those in charge of team affairs/recruitment have it all under control and we will all be blissfully happy with his replacement.

Wolves have had our pants done before with the Akinbiyi debacle, hard to believe we're allowing them to shaft us again, £1.25m is peanuts. worth double that at least in Today's market.

Personally i think this is awful business. He has to be worth at least £4M in todays market.
He scored 20 goals in 2012-13 including 11 for a poor Millwall team. I'm sure if he had started most games this season for us as a main striker he would have got 20 again or close to it. Age should increase his price significantly as well. If he was in his late 20s then fair enough 2.5-3 million might be right but at the age of 22 he still has loads of time to improve and so another the value should be at least £1million higher.

Florist signed Assombalonga (21) for £5.5million and he has no championship experience whereas wood is a proven goalscorer at that level when he gets game time.

I assume the difference is because Wood is not needed by us whereas these other strikers (Ulloa, Deeney, Assombalonga) were their star players. However, i still think we should have been asking for more.

I think you're forgetting something, Deeney and Assombalonga are players whom are very, very important to their sides. Chris Wood is a fringe player at Leicester and his club want to bring in other players in his position which will make him even less important to us. Therefore the price he'll be available at will be much, much lower. Deeney isn't worth £10 million and Assombalonga isn't worth £5.5 million but to their clubs they are and it takes stupid money for them to be willing to let them go. We couldn't give a toss about Wood sadly and therefore we'll only get a mediocre price for him.

Actually i did mention that but like i said you have to consider his potential as well. I think the Assombalonga deal could rise by another £2 million. I just hope their is a decent clause in the Wood deal as well and possibly a sell on fee for us if wolves sell in the future? Otherwise i think it's a really poor deal.

He's rejected their contract offer according to the Millwall journo who covers their paper.

To get two million quid for a player who is not good enough for the prem is very good business. I think he will just be an average championship striker nothing special. He just seems to lack that one bit of skill that would make him stand out . Lets face it he's never going to be a Deeney or Mc Cormack but he is probably better than anything Wolves have got at the moment. So everyone is happy.

Disagree completely. Peterborough get 5 million for an unproven league 1 ex amateur player for Assambolonga Wood is a proven international stroke Championship player who can score goals at Championship level. Who's the mugs here? I think you will find we are.

We want to sell though. Posh don't want or need to sell Assombalonga.

If someone came in for Drinkwater or Vardy we'd slap an exortianate price tag on them. Wood's value to us is diminished because he's down the pecking order.

Posted

I hope he stays. Wolves can GFT offering peanuts to both us and the player. This would have been a

mugging of the highest quality. Why are we having a fire sale, is someone finally coming in?

Strange use of that phrase.

Posh sold Assombalonga to Forest?

I really dont believe there is a big difference between Deeney and Wood so for me to sell Wood for 2m then sign Deeney for 10m would be POOR business plus Deeney is older. Wood is still young and time to improve but we as supporters dont always give players enough time (Vardy and Drinkwater spring to mind)
