At least they had this and 15 football players to show for their heavy investment

Erm.  If the sale price doesn't define the value then what does?

Everything that sells for a certain price doesn't automatically mean it is value for money.  There could an economic bubble present which causes people to pay way over the odds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_bubble

One of the best ever historical examples of this was the Tulip Mania of 1637.  At the peak of the bubble one single tulip bulb sold for ten times a skilled workers salary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania

Price and Value are very different things.  However in this case if people are prepared to pay 10 million for Deeney (and others like him), then we will have to.  Otherwise we won't get him.

Don't believe for a second that Burnley have bid that. Would not be at all surprised if Watford are leaking this to get our bid closer to £10m.

the new stand is progressing very well and will be open in a few months.

Well lets hope you have some fans to sit in it this season because last time our Manager was sat in there all by himself

Kudos for referencing the Tulip Mania of 1637. One of ASS's many specialist subjects.

Parent Company and control

The immediate parent company is Hornets Investment Limited, a company registered in England and Wales.
The ultimate parent company and controlling party is Hornets Management S.a.r.l. a company registered inLuxembourg.

 Tax avoidance as well.

We'd be in great financial condition if we didn't have to bother signing people. We could just get our parent club to give us players.

Watford made a small profit last year. We will never be reckless like LCFC have been in the past leaving huge debts unpaid.

That's a bit harsh. We're not proud of what happened to our club, nor do we try and rub it in people's faces. I think the majority would say we were very fortunate not to go under, but in all fairness the club knew what mess we were in and were trying to manage the situation to ensure that they fulfilled their commitments to their creditors. Whether or not that would have been realised we'll never know, however the whole administration scenario unfolded when one of our former players decided to call in a debt. Once we officially entered administration it became a free for all and sadly people lost out as a consequence. We always seem to shoulder the blame for the change in the rules however no one ever mentions the countless clubs who benefited from similar action before us, nor does anyone ever mention Ipswich who volunteered to enter administration just several months after ourselves so that they could imitate our actions and avoid going under themselves.

Our recent spending habits are entirely unrelated. Whilst things didn't work out and most will agree that in hindsight money wasn't spent wisely, our owner's were more than capable of absorbing the losses until we achieved our goal.

I don't understand why people are worrying about spending 15mil + on Ulloa and Deeney.

We have the money to spend. This season we need to buy proven players on a limited wage to establish ourselves. Deeney and Ulloa are of course not worth 7 mil a piece, but they are as proven as the rest of our squad, both have good attitudes (Despite Deeney's troubles he has always been a hard worker), and will only require wages similar to our current lads.

Now is not the time to go out there and buy foreigners from abroad who are exciting signings but unproven. We need to establish ourselves first.

Why dont we just pay a high wage? Get someone good for like say 5 to 6 mil give them 60k a week with two years or so am sure it be better value for money in the long run. reather than get someone who aint as good for 10 mil?

Because then they are most likely to be with us for the money & not the opportunity to perform against some of the best teams in the world.
