harrowhorn Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I really don't get this shite about deeney He made a mistake and paid the price. Hundreds get a kickin every week in our towns and nothing said. So he made a mistake have none of you moaners (I have) It was a fight he did not murder rape or abuse kids and he's paid the price. praps you should judge him by his response as none of you were there. He's seems to have been clean since and learnt from his mistake. I suppose some of you are the guilty till proven innocent types or should he have just been hung. He's been the complete pro since his release from chokey. Obviously spent most of his time in the gym cos he came back a beast. Hasn't put a toe wrong since, is always last to go back to the dressing room after matches, always last to leave fan events. Works like a nutter on the pitch. I really hope we keep him whatever is offered - and I was dubious to say the least when he got sentenced.

That line is always a weak response to a violent act, in my opinion. I wholeheartedly agree with the rest, though

They must think he still goes out every night doing it the way they talk. From what you say seems like the lesson was learn and he deserves a break.
Trev Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Deeney has the third most championship goals in the past 2 seasons with 44. Surely that record is good enough!
ImBlue Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Deeney has the third most championship goals in the past 2 seasons with 44. Surely that record is good enough! He's caused more trouble for us than I've seen anyone in that league too. Just pay it and get the boy in.
Dylster Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 He's a good player, and if they want him so bad they should just give Watford the amount they're asking for and stop wasting time and letting other clubs have a go.
RedSoxUK Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I get somewhat sad on FM when I have to bring in a better League 2 striker because my non-league strikers are not good enough after being promoted... Perhaps this is the case. Pearson likes to stick with the same team, and that's how we should be, unless we lose 10 in a row or something. I can't see a situation where our current crop and new crop will be happy players in a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 or a 4 - 4 - 2. GTF, Wood, Nugent, Vardy, Ulloa, Deeney - it's too many, so if we're actually going for Deeney, Wood will be on his way, and GTF will be playing Midfield cover in the development squad. 4 - 3 - 3 could work well and compliment all of our strikers, but leave our deadly Mahrez / Knockaert / Albrighton out in the dark which Pearson won't be doing... So I suspect it's going to be a 4 - 4 - 2 with Ulloa and Vardy starting, Nugent and Wood on the bench, and if Deeney comes in...... I just don't know, rotation? I for one don't want to spend 18m on two players where one will be sitting on the bench every week, and if they're noth playing, then our workers in Nuge and Vardy who have earnt their place, will be wasted on the bench. Can anyone offer any possibilities where Deeney would fit in with our current squad?
Langston Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I think he'd manage to score a few in the top flight but I'd begrudge paying the huge fee Watford are well within their rights to demand given recent valuations of strikers in the Championship.

Brooksy Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 He's not in the Watford squad for their friendly tonight
LeicesterBran Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 He certainly isn't a bad striker by any means but, we could do better than him and get a better striker for less money like Teofilo Gutierrez or Patrick Bamford.
Spudulike Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 He's not in the Watford squad for their friendly tonight ...and apparently refused to say why.
martyn Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Gutierrez :-D. Just have a read of his misdemeanour sheet. Not sure Pearson fancies that. Bamford has done nothing to suggest he is better than Deeney..
MGLCFC Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I agree with other posters who suggest if NP wants him that bad, just get in their and agree terms. I know it's all about negotiating the best deal, but for me all this upping the bid by £1mil at a time alerts other clubs.
queensguardfox Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 He's not in the Watford squad for their friendly tonight on the WFC forums also saying the club is refusing to comment why, could be nothing

Foxymcoxy Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Think he's a twat and a thug and I don't want him, even if he goes elsewhere and does great things.

MGLCFC Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Think he's a twat and a thug and I don't want him, even if he goes elsewhere and does great things. Based on what you've seen, heard? Yes, he's got a bit of arrogance, but by all accounts he's one of the hardest working players at Watford and has a lot of time for the fans. Yes he's got into trouble as a young lad, so did Knockaert last year. For me he's the powerful fast forward we need.
