foxes_rule1978 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Why dont we just pay a high wage? Get someone good for like say 5 to 6 mil give them 60k a week with two years or so am sure it be better value for money in the long run. reather than get someone who aint as good for 10 mil? QPR all over
docho66 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I would never want to see him in a Leicester shirt! His arrogance annoys the hell out of me. I would actually hate it. Surely there's someone else, what happened to the talk about Connor Wickham? Now that's a player I would like to see. But with Ulloa, he wouldn't fit in now.
Happy Fox Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Clearly his agent is trying to use us. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2703339/Burnley-join-race-sign-striker-Troy-Deeney-Watford-hold-10m.html

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Today's mercury suggests we are considering a third bid, so maybe not just agent talk. Also sounds like NP half expects 1 or 2 departures. Very political reply to the question. Bye bye Woody

sdb Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Would rather Campbell, especially at about 8% of the price. Come on Nige i'm not sure about this one...
JJS84 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Would rather Campbell, especially at about 8% of the price. Come on Nige i'm not sure about this one... But if Nige and the club are, where's the issue?
ImBlue Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Would rather Campbell, especially at about 8% of the price. Come on Nige i'm not sure about this one... Deeney is a better player, personally couldn't care how much he costs as long as the club are comfortable to sanction it. Bring him in and watch watford struggle next year. Wahoo!
65RosesFox Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 The amount of money is crazy for a back up player if we signed him for that amount you would be expecting him to start alongside Ulloa. who is to say Deeney would be back up? If we had four strikers to choose from of: Ulloa Vardy Nugent Deeney They would be picked based on their performances. If Vardy had a couple of bad games then I'd expect him to be dropped and have to fight for a starting position again. Same with Ulloa, just because he is a record signing doens't give him an automatic place in the starting line up. Yes I would expect Ulloa to start first game of the season but just like last season we have quality competition for places and every player will have to perform to remain in the starting line up.
ronnup Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 It's not the greatest vote of confidence in out scouting network though. Ulloa fair play Nigel has liked for ages but I'm hoping we've got other irons in the forev

Ulloa fair play Nigel has liked for ages but I'm hoping we've got other irons in the forev The same scouting network that unearthed Drinkwater, James, De Laet, Mahrez, Knockaert and Vardy?
Rusko187 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Aside from his history I think Deeney would probably warrant the price tag. He knows where the net is and is a bit of a pacey unit. You get him running at some of the leagues lighter defences and he will undoubtedly cause headaches. It would be a gamble I would take for their asking price... and no I'm not on any medication.

Banks Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Completely trust NP and the staff. It'll be money well spent if Deeney and Ulloa etc get the goals to keep us in the Premier League.
Tielemans63 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Imho Deeney would compliment our current forward options nicely - he's an out and out goalscorer to go with our pacey / wide striker (Vardy), a deep lying forward (Nuge) and a target man / aerial threat (Ulloa). That seems like a good set of options to have when facing the greater challenges of Prem footy. Does make you wonder what it might mean for Chris Wood though
docho66 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 It's not the greatest vote of confidence in out scouting network though. Ulloa fair play Nigel has liked for ages but I'm hoping we've got other irons in the forev Pearson said at the end of last season, the media will not have heard of most of our targets! Where are these names? Upson, Ulloa, Hamer - all known to the English media. In Nigel we trust!
Super_horns Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Regarding his previous criminal record - whilst it was clearly something he deserved punishment for Deeney seems to have shown remorse and not got into trouble since so you'd like to think that was a one off incident.
Corky Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I think people are misinterpreting Pearson's comments a bit- I think he meant people might not guess who we are after, rather than being an unknown player. Did people imagine we'd go for Upson or Albrighton? Lewis Holtby (if rumours are to be believed)?
harrowhorn Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Another prem club in for Deeney - probably QPR. Biggest offer so far, turned down. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/11364253.Watford_have_not_accepted_any_Deeney_bids_despite_another_offer/?ref=var_0 Note in article it says Spurs were interested but Deeney didn't want to bench warm.
ToeKneeHandCock Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Note in article it says Spurs were interested but Deeney didn't want to bench warm. As if. If Spurs came in for him he'd be off in a shot.
harrowhorn Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 As if. If Spurs came in for him he'd be off in a shot. Well he saw his pal Vydra on the bench all year at WBA - perhaps he wants to play football. The reporter might be lying of course, but why would he?
sylofox Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I really don't get this shite about deeney He made a mistake and paid the price. Hundreds get a kickin every week in our towns and nothing said. So he made a mistake have none of you moaners (I have) It was a fight he did not murder rape or abuse kids and he's paid the price. praps you should judge him by his response as none of you were there. He's seems to have been clean since and learnt from his mistake. I suppose some of you are the guilty till proven innocent types or should he have just been hung.
