Ricey Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 You know football has gone mad when Loic Remy costs £8.5m and Deeney is valued at £10m!! Loic Remy isn't valued at £8.5m though.
Hack Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 You know football has gone mad when Loic Remy costs £8.5m and Deeney is valued at £10m!! Remy has a sell clause in his contract for that price, not a fair comparison. Also Remy would cost 100k per week, Deeney would cost 1/4 of that.
MGLCFC Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Is this a case that Pearson has decided that he wants Deeney and will continue upping the bid until it's accepted or do people think he'll look elsewhere?
Nick Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I think he'll up the bids alternately until he gets Slim or Deeney.
JJS84 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Is this a case that Pearson has decided that he wants Deeney and will continue upping the bid until it's accepted or do people think he'll look elsewhere? keep upping the bid
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Troy deeney, uh-oh Troy deeney, uh-oh He kicked a chav in the head He's really good in bed
Candidcamera Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Let's hope that we keep Wood even if we get Deeney. There is plenty of time for him to nail a first team place. Not getting Campbell so I would say we should keep Chris Wood.
Corky Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I think Ulloa and Vardy will be the front two, I think we're ok for strikers now and need to improve other areas.
dannythefox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 You know football has gone mad when Loic Remy costs £8.5m and Deeney is valued at £10m!! not really remy want 100 plus a week and a big signing on fee, deeney would want about 30 a week and no fee
Callabinho Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 24 goals in an average Watford side, slipped under the radar somewhat last season.
JJS84 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I think Ulloa and Vardy will be the front two, I think we're ok for strikers now and need to improve other areas. Clearly the man that won us the championship with a record number of points and wins thinks differently. I know which one I'm backing
Guy1960 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 not really remy want 100 plus a week and a big signing on fee, deeney would want about 30 a week and no fee How do you know what Deeney would want in wages? and why wouldn't he want a fee?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 £10,000,000 for Deeney! He's worth about half that. Pearson must be crazy if he shells out that amount.
5waller5 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Why oh why do people keep moaning that we are spending money???? We have to invest to make the step up ... and we have the money from the promotion to spend without being any worse off ..... ENJOY it!!!! It's one of those few shopping sprees that's totally justified!!! And for the record - I'd love Deeney at any price .... He bullied our strongman defence last season .... He'd scare premier league foreign centre halves to death!!
TrentFox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I think Ulloa and Vardy will be the front two, I think we're ok for strikers now and need to improve other areas. Either gets a knock and we are looking very thin. Unless we play GTF, in which case we are looking anything but ...
Leicester_Loyal Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Deeneys stats are better compared to Ulloas. Whether or not this is because Brighton played a more defensive system only Pearson and a few others may know. Why people are saying Ulloa is better I don't know. Either way Deeney would be a good signing, but we can't be signing anymore strikers after him surely?
miked2006 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Thought I'd have a look at what you guys were saying about Troy. Is he worth £10million? Of course he isn't, no Championship player is. But he is far better than Ulloa, and I'd have him over McCormack too, having outscored them both over the last two seasons. In the first (which you may remember well ) he was a support striker and dropped deep to assist Vydra, the second was with a pretty poor side devout of confidence. You may mention the number of games he has played in those seasons, but a massive positive is that he very rarely gets injured. I think he would score at least 10 goals for you and be a handful in the Premiership, plus you are bringing a very positive hard working guy into the squad who the crowd would get behind (eventually). Luckily for us, a players value is largely defined by the market. We have no reason or wish to sell, he's a massive character in the dressing room (cue fat jokes) so, seeing McCormack going for £11 million, we will want a price very similar to that. £8/9 million plus King would do nicely though.
superhorns Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Most Watford fans do not want Deeney to leave even at £10m. He is much more than a striker, he is the soul of our team. His rapport with the fans is excellent. I went to the players awards ceremony last season, he took time to speak to nearly everybody in the room, staying well after the other players left. Forget his misdemeanour in the past, his attitude is refreshing. I would be sorry to see him leave but he deserves a crack at the prem. I'm sure he would be a fan's favourite if you signed him.
Babylon Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 £8/9 million plus King would do nicely though. So Andy King is only worth £1-2m?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 People calling Deeney mediocre and average are either still bitter about what he did to us or are comparing him to Sergio Aguero. He scored more goals than any of our forwards last season in a below average (13th) championship team. If he's mediocre then all our strikers are absolutely useless.

johnny the fox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 The fact is..he is 26, he needs to be thinking about premiership now..and we all know there is no point in trying to hang on to a player when his head as been turned. I suppose its down to his ambition and his agents greed,to what happens next.
miked2006 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 So Andy King is only worth £1-2m? I thought he couldn't get in your Championship team over Drinkwater and James, let alone your Premiership one. I'd say he was worth between 2 and 3, but I'm sure you see him far more regularly than I do, so maybe he is worth more to you.

That's because Drinkwater and James were a cut above the rest of the league last season. I think £3m is about right but unless we sign two central midfielders it's immaterial, he won't be allowed to go.
