Everton Pre Match - Premier League football is back

Disagree with this now. A solid team is someone like Newcastle or Stoke. Everton are far superior than that at this moment in time. They have a very strong squad and are certainly looking to challenge for Champs League this year. However, I feel we have it in us to get a result. A draw would be a great result against them. A win would be unbelievable.

Everton, champions league? never. ever. ever. going to happen.

Well they weren't far off last year.

the planets aligned perfectly last year and they still didn't make it. man utd will be much better this year, and I can't see Tottenham finishing below them. they'll struggle to finish in the top six. I'm predicting them 7th and us 12th. mark them.

I don't think they'll get it but they'll certainly challenge for most of the season. They did last season!

What does your players being at the World Cup have to do with us not being at full strength?

The fact we had a number of players at the World Cup and you didn't means your whole squads been able to have a full pre season.

I don't see how a World Cup is that much of a distraction in terms of preparation. Players participating still need to keep in shape. Time zones and recuperation from traveling might be a hindrance, but that's about it.

All in all, a pretty weak argument. Most of your WC players did return home early, anyway.

But that doesn't mean we were at full strength

Fair point but it shouldn't be used as an excuse if you lose on Saturday, which is as much of a possibility as you winning. The players we have at Leicester are more then capable of beating Everton on their day, but we will have to play very well to do so.

That means fvck all, look at the line-ups for the match:

We used 20 different players, at no point were we full strength, we all know you weren't either, the first half was closer to our expected starting line-up, but it wasn't full strength and we were still very much at the preparation and fitness stage of preseason. All it means is that you can read as much into that game as we can, which is fvck all.

The fact that we beat you means, nothing, the fact that we competed against the likes of Barry, Pienaar, Osman, all likely to feature on Saturday and Vardy had Distin on toast a couple of times gives me confidence that we will be able to compete and give you a game on Saturday.

Hope it's a good, fair game and goes to the blues! Everton, that is.

After reading your optimism I don't doubt any of it and fully expect a solid Leicester performance, I think they'll take the game to Everton anyway. If Everton are at their best its only gonna go one way I'm afraid. On our day we are superb and better than anyone in this league. We have to be at our best and Martinez gets that into the players heads and will demand nothing less. We never write anybody off or underestimate an opposition, Martinez is a gentleman and is very respectful towards opposition.

I noticed a post here from Tubey who is from the Everton forum, which I'm banned from. I wrote some things which wasn't very clever and I started to get infractions for my general behaviour. I've learnt many lessons from my mistakes and put them all behind me. I would like to go back on there and be a forum supporter, I would even pay the owner £100 just to reinstate my account. Everton is my life and it would be good to be able to talk about them with other fans on a daily basis.

I think once you've been banned its impossible to come back from that. I would genuinely love another chance. I wouldn't risk it again and I would be constructive in what I say. I told them all stories which all were true but a lot of people thought I was on a wind up. I wouldn't tell lies but I understand now that my stories wasn't relevant to that particular forum. If I was allowed back I would solely keep my talk about Everton an various other off topic conversations but I vow I will never cross the line. I have a lot of respect for my other blues and I hope they can find it in their hearts to allow me back on. We are Everton, we are a family.

If anyone feels like pleading my case to the site owner I would be very appreciative

I think it's fair to say Leicester fans have seen more of Everton in past years than the other way around, so the visiting team could be in for a veritable surprise.

They're undoubtedly a team on the rise under Martinez, but we're no pushovers, either.

Let's show them what we're made of and create a few more fans of our style of play up North.

To the fella who reckons Leicester can beat Everton on their day is laughable. If Everton are in top gear or even slightly below you will be overwhelmed

Oooh, we've got a live one here.

You had such a good start to the season last season, properly overwhelmed Cardiff, Norwich and West Brom...

If Albrighton is fit, then I honestly think we'll win.

If not then, well, we'd have to change formation and personnel... I could see us struggling.

Posted

I know, all this because one poster had the temerity to believe his team might win the game if we play at our very best and Everton are below par.

Everton fans remind me of Bournemouth fans.

To be honest I think we are the Bournemouth fans in this scenario and we know what happened there.

We are going to have expect a lot of this this season, let's be happy in the underdog role and hope our boys do the talking on the pitch.

I recall a certain Everton FC drawing away against a newly-promoted team not so long ago... and then losing against another newcomer at home later that season.

Football fans being optimistic on their own forum, shocker.

It's our first premiership game for 10 years and we've had a decent preseason with a squad featuring some quality players going into the game against opposition we've already beaten (yes I know both squads were weakened) who've been poor in preseason and had players at the World Cup and traditionally start the season slowly.

So we're supposed to say "come on lads don't get excited for this because we can't win if they turn up, they'll just overwhelm us, sorry."

Obviously Everton are a much better side and you should win on paper but it isn't beyond the realms of reality that we'll beat you.
