Everton Pre Match - Premier League football is back

Of all the people, I didn't expect Lawrenson to get what Pearson is attempting to do.

I was quite taken aback by his report. Seemed to get what we were all about!

Knockaert being in contention is massive if it's true.

I agree. Means Schlupp can play LB which I prefer to Konchesky as we will need pace with Coleman and A.N. other on their right hand side.

I think if we go into this game with the attitude of looking to contain Everton's overlapping full backs we're in for a long day.

I'd like to see Nugent or King sat on Barry to stop him playing. I'd also like to see our wingers pushed up and giving Baines and Coleman something to think about themselves because we're sitting ducks if we wait for them.

If Knockaert's fit:

Schmeichel

De Laet

Morgan

Wasyl

Konchesky

James

Drinkwater

Mahrez

Nugent

Knockaert

Ulloa

If Knocky doesn't make it I'd push Nugent wide and have King as a sort of advanced defensive midfield player (!) whose job is to stop Barry and McCarthy getting space.

Assuming Lukaku plays I'd like Wasyl in there for some extra bulk but it makes our back line look very slow.

The World Cup proved the best way to stop baines is by making him defend, which he is not the best at.

I go with the same team as you but I do get the feeling Moore is going to get first chance at centre back.

I CAN'T WAIT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PREMIER LEAGUE WUHOO.

Just wish I wasn't so damn nervous .... I have belief ... but then I had belief in Adams after he got us promoted last time ... and our stay wasn't very long if I seem to remember

I think we have a much better squad this time around ... but then I think its a lot more challenging in this league

Ok less excited now ... can we have a few more weeks to make some more signings first?

I don't want us going into the season being a reactive side, we're far too good to do that.

If we're seriously considering playing Schlupp as extra protection that should scream to Pearson that we need a new left back.

We (Everton) conceded most of our goals via set peices or counter attacks

Great, just when our master of counter attacking is out injured...

I'm really worried about tomorrow and also extremely frustrated.

We've had all summer to build up our squad yet we're a man light in every position.

Have to say, i'll be extremely pissed off if Nigel wastes this opportunity to create something amazing here because of his ego and refusal to spend.

Can definitely see the advantage of having Wasyl batter Lukaku about (especially as Lukaku has had little time in matches with Everton (only a behind-closed-doors friendly vs Sheff Weds earlier this week). Having said that, I'd also be confident if Moore started too.

De Laet vs Baines could be very exciting. Both like to attack and despite being defenders, their ventures forward could be classed as their biggest plus-point so that battle could be key.

Mahrez has to play even if we're short of a wigner on the other side. He's our biggest source of creativity and if the strikers want service he's the main player that will give it. Everton know that, obviously so it won't be easy for him. Given his fancy feet and trickery and unpredictability, though, I do think he'll be the standout player tomorrow.

Think it'll be 4-2-3-1. RDL, Wes, Was/Moore, Schlupp at the back. James and Drinkwater just in front of them. Mahrez, King and Nugent. Ulloa up top by himself.
