Pen 3 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 i was impressed with the way Chelsea could hug both wings and in a second wide players would drift in, lots of passing with the ball on the ground and they looked like a peg or two above us just thinking about that...we seem to give a yard when we can't at this level..that said we blocked everything until their first goal and had some exciting counters against the run of play. We do need to get another striker I'm afraid and additional strength in midfield if we are to get anywhere near mid-table. As we saw today we have a PL quality keeper! NB. Chelsea support was disgraceful apart from the odd pocket, we were awesome...
dannythefox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just watched the game. Hammond absolute quality, as were Morgan & Moore. The left side of Konchesky & Schlupp really impressed me first half, some saying Schlupp picks the wrong options, he picked out some excellent passes today, caused Ivanovic problems a few times, and defensively especially first half along with Konch he looked very decent. Only two negatives for me and that's how wasteful Nugent & Mahrez were, both getting in good positions & not making the most of possession & chances. Overall very impressed again, didn't expect us to win but we proved our worth & held our own. this is bang on
STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I dread to think how fat GTF will get when he retires from football. He had all summer knowing he was going to be playing Premiership football most likely his last ever season doing so and he has actually gotten fatter!! Wtf is that all about. I would be training my ass off for this one last chance. How on earth he passes these fitness tests the players are set when they first come back...
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 The turning point wasn't Chelsea going1-0 up. We were right in that game until Hammond went off. You can't expect anything other than defeat once you've got GTF playing in a midfield 2 at Stamford Bridge. Sorry I should add it was an absolutely outstanding performance up until Hammond's injury; the game was a write off after that. Disagree, soon as they scored we were playing Chelsea's game and that was always going to be the case, our game plan was spot on but there is very little most sides in Europe will be able to do after going a goal down at Stamford Bridge and Hammond going off was the final nail in the coffin.
Dickov22 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just home from the gameThought we did so well in the first half without really having much of a goal threat; this is something along with the lack of squad depth that Pearson has to address this week.King and Hammond did really well first half. Hammond in particular and we definitely lost shape and discipline when he went off. GTF coming on in centre mid at Stamford Bridge couldn't scream 'WE NEED MORE DEPTH IN THE SQUAD' anymore if it triedMorgan and Moore played pretty well. Kasper made some outstanding saves. Mahrez played well but his end product was poor. He's young though and will keep improving.Nugent was hopeless again. The one on one was a glorious chance. To be honest even if he'd scored it, I still think we'd have come away having lost the game, such was their quality. However, he never ever looked like scoring. Didn't look confident at all. You just need your strikers to put those away. It was bread and butterThe lads did us proud and it's not the results against these kind of sides that will define our season. However, it's these kind of games that really highlight the lack of depth we have.New players needed this week.On a side note, John Terry was outstanding. Why Roy Hodgson didn't take him to Brazil is one of life's mysteries.
fuchsntf Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Dont think, that one player let us down. Chelsea have players who are simply 3-4 notches higher than us.We played some good football, but you cant afford to miss 2-3 chances like we did. Just to add ,thanks to injuries we havent yet played with players, who we all consider our top draw players. What a pairing Wes and Liam are proving to be, not forgetting our other defenders, so far have held their own.
ARTY_FOX Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I kept being stopped by people this evening telling how good they thought leicester were and that we were unlucky to leave with nothing. I think that says alot about how well we did
DallasFox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 An improvement over the performance against Everton, First half was great with significantly better composure on the ball. We have to tweak and refine our ball handling and passing especially when we clear out of defense and when we hammer crosses into the box. This business of hitting wild crosses into the box for Ulloa looks far less effective to when we attack the penaly area with crisp passing and one-two's. I know I've read that players have been told to hit crosses into the box for Ulloa but I am curious to see the stats on how effective this has been vs the crisp, quick ground passing game. Thoughts?
65RosesFox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We will play a lot worse than that somewhere along the season and pick up 3 points.
ElusiveEd Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugent does frustrate me at times. Iv'e noticed that when he gets the ball there is often these 1 to 2 seconds of "What do I do now" All other players seem to run with the passed ball but with him it seems to be a short time whilst it registers with him that he's got it. Also, I saw it at the game and confirmed it having watched the playback but if you watch him carefully when he has that 1 on 1 with Courtois he looks at the linesman before taking his shot. What the fvck was he doing??? We'll never know if it would've gone if he hadn't but he should've concentrated on taking the keeper on and scoring not looking over at the linesman. Play to the whistle.

And by the time he looks back, the keeper is on top of him. not good for a player of his experience.
theessexfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Proud of how we fought today, they always had quality in abundance, on a different day Nuge would have stuck it away and we could've caused a shock but equally they could've scored a couple of earlier chances and had a rout - 2-0 is far from embarrassing and we can take a lot of heart from it. STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Oh I take it back what I said earlier. I thought Nugent was looking around for support for someone to pass to but as MOTD showed he was looking at linesman to see if offside. Pretty stupid when you are clean through, don't stop until you hear the whistle. That split second look to the linesman probably cost him the chance to see how fast Courtois was rushing out and gave him last chance to react! Play to the whistle Nuge! Basics!
queensguardfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Well done City, Chelsea will beat 'better' teams by more then two goals at home this season. Nothing to fear, hold your heads up high boys!

BoyJones Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I thought Terry and Cahill worked so well together, you can see they have played together for years. If you watch them defend a high ball, one of them attacks the ball, whilst the other blocks or impedes the forward. Nothing wrong with that, just very clever play, they are so much better than the likes of Jagielka. Having said that Wes and Moore are looking pretty useful at this level, I thought they would struggle with the power and pace of premier league forwards. Feel a bit sorry for Was, he must be dying to get stuck in.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 On a side note, John Terry was outstanding. Why Roy Hodgson didn't take him to Brazil is one of life's mysteries. Well it's not really a mystery, is it? He refuses to play for England after the FA's independent inquiry found him guilty of racism.
LCFCCKEANO Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just me who noticed Schlupps amazing ball to begin our counter to nugents chance then?
maddog Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugent hasn't taken his opportunity in these two games with Vardy injured and probably wouldn't have started either match with Vardy fit. He simply has to score today... But that's why his goalscoring record in the Premier League is so so very poor. You only really get one clear cut chance and perhaps a half chance if you're lucky at this level and you must take it... Especially against a big side like Chelsea. Konchesky however is causing me major concern. He simply isn't consistent enough or quick enough to play left back at PL level anymore (sorry Paul). 4-5 years ago he was alright but I'm sorry to say he needs to be out our team. At fault largely for their opening goal and he has his pants down too much for my liking, he was even torn to shreds too many times against journeymen Championship players. Sadly we don't have a replacement for him... Schulpp is an option but he has been so effective in a more advanced position in these two games. Signing a left back is a must for me. Mahrez had a poor game today, his final ball was non existent especially for the three completely wasted corners in the first half when we were the better side. I'd be very surprised if Mahrez isn't on the bench Sunday. The first 45 was an inspirational LCFC performance. We deserved a goal but didn't create many clear chances from the dangerous areas we found ourselves in. Mahrez needs to work on his decision making because he didn't half have some howlers today when finding himself in acres of space in the final third. I hope Nugent has a sleepless night because I'm sorry Dave you let down what was God like performances from Hammond and King in midfield, positive attacking effort from Geoff and some superb shot stopping from Kasper (who badly needs to work on claiming crosses so dodgy). The Premier League can be cruel but today goes down as a missed opportunity for me to come away with points. Which is probably a reflection of how well the vast majority of the team played overall that I'm so disappointed with a 2-0 loss when plenty will be battered 4 or 5 by Chelski this season. We have been incredibly unlucky with Vardys injury really... Who knows what might have been had he started today and last week ahead of Nugent. On another positive note Ulloa looks seriously composed when the ball is at his feet. Turns and changes direction quickly and is looking around for a pass. He needs to pass some of his composure and brain power to Mahrez somehow. Very impressed with how Leonardo has hit the ground running, then again I knew he would and always highly rated the signing to begin with.
Celery Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Great game today guys. It could have gone so differently if Nugent had beaten Courtois and put you guys in front, could have been so very different if we were chasing the game. I knew that the Foxes wouldn't roll over for us and you can hold your heads high as some teams have taken a real battering at Stamford Bridge (Villa, Spurs, Arsenal etc) but you held firm against a really powerful front four/six. I reckon you'll end up in the upper half of the table somewhere based on that performance. Looking forward to our second meeting later this season, barely ever been to Leicester let alone the King Power Stadium... Regards!

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I think it's important to take away positives like this from the gameIt was 0-0 at half time?
