TheUltimateWinner Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Palace fan in peace. Came over to check what you guys thought about the game and many kind words. Being gracious in defeat is difficult. I think we'll both stay up and well done on last week. Well done for doing your homework, definitely deserved the win.

Well done today, Warnock has you spot on at the moment, I'm a big fan of Neil much to the hate of some of the lads on here You wanted it more, It's early days but I think we will both be safe! I'll be making an appearance on the Palace forum later, as I had been a member since Neils first time there, Would be good to see if the mood has changed since he went to you for his 2nd spell to today. I saw alot of negativity when you first took him on... But he's a good manager. Nigel seemed to get on with him Very well! I've watched all your matches this season (Had them recorded from streams) you done your homework on us and cancelled us out fantastically, we either didnt do enough homework, or simply didnt believe enough, I suspect a bit of both! Good luck for the season mate.
LanguedocFox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 How was Simpson in his 1st game ...sub 63rd min..??? Looked mediocre. No improvement on De Laet. Got himself booked for no reason. I think mediocre is a bit strong, but he didn't do particularly well - any more than De Laet did: but you could say that about the whole team. Simpson needs to be told that lumping high crosses over is a waste of fvcking time against two big strong central defenders. Needed more sharp, on-the-ground stuff.

Guest ttfn Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 There's absolutely no point in having Knockaert if he's not going to be in the 18 for games like these. In fact there's no point in half of the players we've got if Pearson is just going to pick the same side every time we win a game . A lot of people mocked when kingfox suggested changing things around for this game but he was right. We got murdered in wide areas by Palace because De Laet and Konchesky were left exposed by the diamond. This also had the effect of restricting their forays forward as they knew that Bolasie and Puncheon were ready to exploit the space.
PalaceFan Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Cityfanlee, won't let me quote on mobile. I think this win will have changed the mood re: Warnock. 4 games undefeated now. It will be interesting to see it you can sustain this great start but I do think your manager got the selection wrong today given how deep we sit. Enjoy the highs and lows, good luck!
Sunbury Fox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Really think James should have started games as soon as he was fit. He is simply a better player than Hammond and we can't afford not to play our best players in the Prem. The argument is that you can't drop Hammond if he plays okay. So how come Hamer got dropped after keeping a clean sheet in an away win? Cos Kasper is better just as James is better than Hammond. Sure he'll start next week. Would also be tempted to bring in Mahrez for Nuge and go for 4312 with Mahrez in the hole.
Jaspa Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 There's absolutely no point in having Knockaert if he's not going to be in the 18 for games like these. In fact there's no point in half of the players we've got if Pearson is just going to pick the same side every time we win again. We only really had problems from Bolasie, their goals came from set pieces. The method Pearson & Co use for team selection has worked well for us over the years and its all about how the team responds and then how we set out for games ahead. We lost a Premier League match away from home, we werent any type of disgrace
lgfualol Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Simpson needs to be told that lumping high crosses over is a waste of fvcking time against two big strong central defenders. Needed more sharp, on-the-ground stuff. To be fair, the whole team needed to be told that.

It can often be wise not to change a winning side and most of us, I think, thought the side looked very good pre match. I think people will over analyse. We just got beat by the better side. It happens, dust yourself down and move on.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Poor game, didn't win anything in the air and couldn't break down their midfield. Mahrez jumping away from 50/50s wasn't nice to see.

Your formation is based on soaking up pressure then counter attacking fast, and we made the mistake of not preparing for it... You were the better team, What I will say to you is that we were flat today, if we were at our best it would have been a fantastic match, but today you could of given us a month of extra time and we wouldnt have scored!! Selhurst park + Neil warnock will make Selhurst park the fortress it was under pulis, its a traditionally difficult place to go to no matter how good you are. I hope to see you up there with us in and around the top 12
sphericalfox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I'm going to congratulate Palace. They played well, and Bolasie is a badass. We had one or two moments, but ultimately we were outplayed overall, and we were always going to be susceptible to set-pieces. Chalk it off, and we'll learn from it.
cityfanlee23 Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 To be fair, the whole team needed to be told that. Thought simpson was a big improvement on De Laet in all honesty.. Most of Simpsons long range clearances were because palace were tracking down so fast and he had nobody around him...
Jakemoore Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 First and foremost I'd like to say that you can't blame NP for playing the same side that beat United. But, 4-3-3 is always risky away from home. Granted, it's a counter attacking formation and that's a big part of winning away from home. However, it just didn't work today. A lot of credit has to go to Neil bloody warnock for nullifying Ulloa by doubling up on him. He was unable to win anything in the air. I think Hammond needs a week off. He's been great all season but he just looked shattered today. The only person I'm really annoyed with is Riyad Mahrez. He was a joke today. He didn't sprint back when he gave the ball away. He didn't sprint forward when their was a 50/50 ball between him and Joel Ward he then moved aside like he was scared of Ward. He was unbelievable but to be honest, the game was probably gone when he came on. A similar competitor next week in Burnley. They'll fill our box like CP did today and they'll expect something from set plays. Fingers crossed we man up by then.

I completely agree..as long as we learn from it, we'll be fine.

Leicesterpool Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Sounds like a bad day at the office, we seem to have a bad record against Neil Warnock, bring on Burnley as soon as possible.
Tuna Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Shit result, shit tactics, shit performance, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. Must do much better next week or we will be in a world of shit.
KFS Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 We got done today. On to next week where Dyche will try to emulate.
Jaspa Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 They caused problems in every position, Puncheon was a big danger, Campbells movement off the ball was pulling our defence apart, Ledley and Jedinak were better today than Drinkwater, cambiasso and hammond combined... The main threats came from him. We were pulled about and spread by their holders and movers but they didnt get any goals or real chances out of it, I thought when we did get some fluid play going with Vardy and Nugent we made some chances comparable to theirs, we just didnt make enough of them or take them. Palace have beat us but theyre performance wasnt special and they havent made mugs of us, we move on
Freesolo Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 We are at home next week the KP is a Fortress! I think 75% of are points are going to come from home games this season
