adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I don't know what grips me more is losing to one of the easier teams in the prem or losing to that dickhead warnock, shocking shocking shocking !
lgfualol Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Can't believe we are down to 9th. Season over. At least we're above Liverpool and Everton, and they both spent a ton. Woohoo
Blanesta Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I was worried about this game, the set pieces did us today, and we just couldn't get through them. It wasn't fun to watch.
davieG Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Out! Out manoeuvred Out fought Out thought Out muscled Out played Out managed. Onwards and Upwards.
EnglishOxide Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I knew before kick off we were going to struggle today when the lineup was announced. 4-3-3 with three strikers doesn't work as a long term formation, as we found out during our 17 game winless run a couple of years ago. It worked against United because of their diamond and shit defence. How did they plan to protect the full backs from Bolasie, who always rips us apart, playing like that? 4-4-****ing-2 next week please. That's what we play. Unfortunate for Nuge but we shouldn't be trying to squeeze him in. Get Mahrez back in the team. Have one player alongside Drinkwater. Rest of the team picks itself. So deflated
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Really disappointing all-round performance but it'll be a one-off. I wasn't worried at halftime as we always come back stronger and looked good right at the start of the 2nd half but couldn't defend set-pieces, aimless long balls as whenever we tried to break Palace were always in good defensive positions and we lost out. Definite penalty on Vardy but it was one of those days - don't think even scoring that would have changed the outcome.
LanguedocFox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I don't know what grips me more is losing to one of the easier teams in the prem or losing to that dickhead warnock, shocking shocking shocking ! Hate losing to Walnut as well, but credit where it's due: he had Palace set up to defend well, and make the most of their chances. I thought their defence was brilliant today, and the two goals were well taken. As others have said, we didn't have a good day at the office, but Palace played well and deserved to win. I thought Mahrez looked good when he came on, and I think he's probably worth starting next week, maybe instead of Nuge.
Shamomoa Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I was peed off but I'm ok now.. It was bound to happen.. As long as we perform better next week of course...
st albans fox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 anyone else wondering about the man on the edge of the box infront of the corner taker. i havent seen any team inconvenienced by it yet and it removes the option of having a man on both posts. if the opposition are renowned for flat near post deliveries then i understand but so far its been every game.
GingerrrFox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Nigel didn't pick the right 11, Nigel didn't pick the right formation and Nigel didn't pick the best tactics to win the game. However saying all that the players still didn't play anywhere near the level we know they can. Shit day all round.
Livid Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 After last week it didn't take a genius to work out we would be going with the same 11 and formation. Whatever you think of Warnock personally he's no mug and got them set up perfectly. Not our finest hour but well done Palace.
lgfualol Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Does anyone think Nigel tells them to hoof it all the time? Or is it a players thing. I can't believe they kept doing it after it consistently didn't work against Palace's lanky defenders.
ARM1968 Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Test failed. Not a disaster but we should have expected this sort of display from Palace. Still a great start but we need to kick on now.
Unabomber Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Palace played very well I thought, especially defensively. Well done Neil Warnock and co, enjoy it.
AmyLGK Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 humph - lets forget about today and move onto the next.
The Guvnor Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 We failed to match Palaces pace and power in the second half, we looked flat and disorganised let's hope we get a positive reaction next week!
Zapp Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Bad day at the office players seemed off the pace there was no movement and we only managed to thread the ball in behind once really frustrating how often & cheaply we gave them the ball in the 2nd half At the end of the day we lost to two well worked set pieces we werent outplayed because generally both teams were equally bad, but they saw our weakness at set pieces and exploited it but its what teams who cant pass or counter attack do, and it worked for palace today it wont be the last time its tried. lets hope its the last time its executed
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Dog shit performance like everyone couldn't be arsed to turn up. Cant pick out one player who stood out honestly so poor. And our defending of set pieces is still ****ing dreadful. Thats the sort of thing you have to get right against a Neil Warnock team. He got his tactics right today. We didn't
Freesolo Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Didn't play well today especially in the second half, no real urgency. we are not going to win every one just put it down to a bad day at the office learn from it and move on to the next game
StanSP Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 As bad as we are, Crystal Palace were very well organised. Very hard to break down and when we start to lump balls up to the strikers, you kind of felt that we ran out of ideas and didn't know what to do next once Plan A failed.
DennisNedry Posted 27 September 2014 Author Posted 27 September 2014 To be honest, the performance was virtually no different to Stoke except for an awful 5 minute spell.
shailen Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 we lost control after they scored. we looked good until then. 2 set pieces is awful to concede from
RedSoxUK Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Knew it would be 4-3-3, played alright in the formation but did look vulnerable with Bolasie running as their outlet. Been done by two good set piece plays from Palace - and fair enough to that we didn't exactly offer much in marking or defending today. Think it's time for Hammond to make way from midfield though, he's had his turn and in the last 3 games has been very slow on the ball, very slow off the ball tracking, and just out of the picture, his marking was atrocious for the Palace goals. Same team except Hammond for Burnley. This game won't effect us much, wouldn't worry - but an unfortunate loss against a team we really should be contesting.
