Bamba's Babes Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Quite easily an improvement on Konchesky at left back. "Why are we buying another right back?" - Come on people, pay attention to what actually happens on a Saturday afternoon outside of the KP! He's played more left back than right back since leaving Leicester.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Naughton > De Laet and Simpson Get him in, sack one of them off. Gives us a better chance at survival and we can't afford not to be ruthless at the moment.

"Why are we buying another right back?" - Come on people, pay attention to what actually happens on a Saturday afternoon outside of the KP! He's played more left back than right back since leaving Leicester. It doesn't make him a left back though. He's still a right back playing at left back.

Narborough_fox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 No chance - De Laet just recently signed a new contract. Forgot about that. That's my theory thrown out the window.
Fox92 Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Naughton > De Laet and Simpson Get him in, sack one of them off. Gives us a better chance at survival and we can't afford not to be ruthless at the moment. Simpson has done nothing wrong so far.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Simpson has done nothing wrong so far. Agree completely. But Naughton is a better player.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Exactly he sucks, all this sentiment bollocks is blindsiding a lot of folk. Most of the team and the manager are a million miles from premiership quality and unfortunately you have either got it or you aint. Nothing like a good exaggeration to make you sound stupid.
Callabinho Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 The idea is to strengthen, improve on what we have, Naughton is that, Simpson is steady, nothing spectacular, just steady. De Laet is awful, can't read the game, can't pass, can't defend, can't think, all he can do is run. I'd welcome Naughton in.
Walshy5 Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 I do worry that we've not been linked with any LBs. It appears that NP has put all his faith in Konchesky.

We desperately need a LB, and a CB. Should be focusing on those two areas, not another RB.
Guest Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 I do worry that we've not been linked with any LBs. It appears that NP has put all his faith in Konchesky. Because the media isn't reporting it? We know Nige likes to try and play his cards close to his chest wherw he can. For all any of us know we're all distracted by the big money of the Kramaric deal while he's quietly tying up a deal for strength in that area. Neither you or I or the overwhelming majority on here know what happens at the club regarding transfers.
sdb Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Simpson is good enough. As many have said, we need a left back - badly.
Strokes Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Three right backs, I thought it was Rudkin that replaced terry Robinson, not Martin Allen.
MC Prussian Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Simpson is good enough. As many have said, we need a left back - badly. How do you find one, though? They're really rare these days. The player's supposed to be not too old (around the 25-year mark), defensively reliable, but also able to support attacks going forward, possessing a lot of stamina, top-flight experience, with a contract running out soon - these are the criteria. Which players realistically fit that bill? There aren't that many.
Giggsy77 Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Naughton can play left back too, so a very good option for me. Have to say, this window is the best by far and it still has plenty of time to go.

Should be focusing on those two areas, not another RB. I do agree, but I'm sure some mad statto somewhere would be able to tell us that Naughton has played more premier league games at left back than right back?
shailen Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 De Laet is better than Naughton imo. Seen him a lot this season and last, and he seems nowhere near the player he was with us. His development seems to have gone backwards with Kyle Walker the favoured one from those two.
LCCFox96 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Simpson is good enough. As many have said, we need a left back - badly. This 100%. Simpson is steady, which is what we need and is much more than can be said for our regular left back. A replacement is needed there if someone is available.
MPH Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 We need a left back not another right back also a big central defender . What we need is ANY player that is available in ANY position, that we can afford and who can improve our team. Whilst i dont disagree that a LB and CB would be great, it is sensless to turn down the opportunity to improve on another position.

One Legged Beaver Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Despite how good he was for us in his loan spell right back is one of the positions we least need strengthening, and from what I've seen he leaves a lot to be desired at left back.
