Kyle Naughton

Confidence player. Can honestly see Pearson pushing him on track to play for England if he came here. That may be high praise but I honestly think, given a decent run of games, he could become a top player. He'll almost certainly improve defensively with us, we know what he had/has going forward, get that man in.

Leicester City have made a £3m bid for Tottenham right-back Kyle Naughton, while Swansea and QPR are also interested in signing the 26-year-old. (Daily Mirror)

Must be true in Daily Mirror now

People actually think because he's played more games as a left back it makes him good there? Obviously never watched any spurs games last season, he's terrible at left back, he was last choice to play there when other full backs were injured.

He's actually no better than konch at left back tbh. And I think Simpson is a better right back and de laet is about on par. Really don't need him.

Finish off kramaric deal, get a lb and cb and I will be pretty happy. Don't waste money on positions where we already have a good first choice and fairly decent back up

NAUGHTON OFFER MADE?

We're told Leicester are interested in signing Tottenham's Kyle Naughton - with one source telling us a £3m offer has been made for the defender. Neither club has confirmed the offer as yet.

QPR are also reported to have shown interest but they've told Sky Sports News HQ this morning they have no desire to take the full-back either on loan or permanently. We'll bring you more as we get it throughout the day.

The newspaper then.

I could see Naughton being signed as a genuine left-back, whilst we have Simpson playing at right-back. Then Konchesky, De Laet and Schlupp can provide cover.

Although I'd still prefer us to sign a natural left-back, they can be hard to find. Maybe that's why we didn't get one in the summer.

People saying that we shouldn't be buying Naughton to play left back as it isn't his natural position - can any of you come up with a viable alternative? The way I see it is that there are no decent left-backs for sale at the minute, and I'd go as far to say that half the teams in the Premier League would snap up a new one if they could.

Denis Irwin. Right footed full back who could play both flanks, but largely used by Manchester United as a left back. He had a pretty good career there.

Not saying we should sign him - he might be a bit too old by now.

We don't need a right back "who can play left back" we need the genuine article.

Defence is more solid with Simpson.

So,no thanks.

As stated above Denis Irwin was right footed, but could play on both flanks and is arguably one of the Premier League’s best ever left backs.

Mick Mills was also right footed, but could play on both flanks. He went on to have a great career for Ipswich and England and in the latter part of his career was almost exclusively used as a left back at club level – but still switched flanks for England.

In fairness, I think they were the first to report on our interest in Cambiasso.

You are joking right? Wow lol

I doubt he's joking. I completely agree with him

Even a spurs fan i spoke to said they don't know why we'd want him as simpson is better and he's terrible at LB

So again a player has b een put forward...and the slagging starts.

NP is going to buy 9 FBs just tp pxxss yiu lot off. RDL and Konch our 2 strikers, Wasi in midfield, Nugent + Ulloa CBs.

There's valid doubts over this for me. Simpson is solid at RB and De Laet is an adequate back up. LB is the spot we need to strengthen and I'm concerned that we'd be signing a RB who's been required to play LB for Spurs and assuming he'll do a job for us. Additionally, Naughton has been rubbish for Spurs for a while at both LB and RB. He was superb for us in the Championship but this is another level and I'm not sure he's proved himself here yet.

I trust Nigel but personally I'd rather we put the £3m or whatever to a specialised LB who can cement the spot for the next few years rather than another RB who's been asked to play LB in the past.

Two bloody great players. I wonder what they would cost on today's market if they were young again?
