davieG Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Leicester City are back on the trail of Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick after he recently hinted that he fancied the move. Leicester sent a scout to the Macron Stadium on Saturday to check on the Republic of Ireland international in Ipswich's 0-0 draw against Bolton Wanderers. McGoldrick said last month that he would have been interested in a move to the King Power Stadium in the summer when City were rumoured to have tabled a £7.5million bid. The 27-year-old forward, who scored 16 goals last season, admitted that he would have had no problem in moving back to the East Midlands. "I wouldn't say my head was turned. I wasn't banging doors or demanding to move," he told BBC Radio Suffolk. "But in a job where you have an offer to better your career, you're going to be thinking about it. "Leicester is near home, it's the Premier League, one of my best mates Wes Morgan plays for them." - See more at: http://www.sportinastorm.com/Premier-League/Leicester-City/Foxes-back-on-trail-of-Irish-international/X1Y41Z1857088?#sthash.WMbv7cbJ.dpuf Probably due to Robinson leaving
lcfcsnow Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Looks like he tried his best to prevent us throwing money away, and has lost his job for it.
Babylon Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Looks like he tried his best to prevent us throwing money away, and has lost his job for it. And you glean that from what exactly?
MC Prussian Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Born in Nottingham, played for Coventry and with no Premier League experience whatsoever. No way is he going to join!
Fox92 Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Looks like he tried his best to prevent us throwing money away, and has lost his job for it. It's a rumour. That's all.
yorkie1999 Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 I'd have took him over Ulloa, at least the bloke can shoot from outside the penalty box.
Steven Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 I'd have took him over Ulloa, at least the bloke can shoot from outside the penalty box. Four goals in the Fizzy v 6 goals in the PL.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 A lot of dough... don't need him, we already have better options
BlueJoe Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 If he was suitable for the PL at 27 and 7.5 mil he would be playing there... Gambling with safety!!!
Babylon Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 If he was suitable for the PL at 27 and 7.5 mil he would be playing there... Gambling with safety!!! People said the same about Ulloa and currently he looks the only one capable or scoring a goal.
CosbehFox Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 After seeing the success of Ulloa, I don't see a massive issue with it. My concern would be his injury record. If we fail this season and have on our books, we would possess a Championship strike force that no one would fancy playing against.
BlueJoe Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 People said the same about Ulloa and currently he looks the only one capable or scoring a goal. Really? Hasn't scored in 11? Doesn't get into the right position. So many times I've heard fans around me at games say where's our centre forward and he's to late into the box of trying to pick the ball up to deep. He has been found out. He struggles to get the ball out of his feet... Doesn't provide much more than holding the ball up but in the premier league he is being pulled up by the refs for backing into his defenders constantly! 2 of his 6 goals were penalties weren't they??? HOWEVER, This may be down to the fact we aren't generating enough clear chances for him because he IS good in the air... But if this is the case we need to look at Mahrez and Schlupp on the wings for crosses. Everyone loves Mahrez but neither him or Schlupp like to open up and run down the wings. Mahrez always cuts inside for pot shots and Schlupp spends his entire game drifting into the middle to pick the ball up so when we break he isn't in the right position! Let's just say I'm not convinced and to gamble us staying up on someone who is untried and untested I wouldn't bother. Look at the scoring stats they are quoting? Last years? Not this years. That's strange to me I haven't looked but I would hazard a guess that he isn't playing regularly or isn't scoring... Both of which mean he isn't the guy we need!
BlueJoe Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 I'm sorry but I don't see this whole argument of "next year..."! We are premier League NOW let's cut the defeatist attitude hidden in backwards positivity and go out to stay where we are... We are a better team that QPR, Burnley, West Brom and Villa!!! We only need to finish 17th so we should be spending to make that happen... Even if it doesn't come down to The last game of the season!
Ric Flair Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 For fcuk sake, this will happen as well. I'd much rather we go for Rodagella if we dip in to the Championship to sign players.
CosbehFox Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Really? Hasn't scored in 11? That goal against Villa must have been imagined then. Total strikers goal. Also unfortunate not have the goal against Liverpool notched as his either.

He scored against Villa a couple of games ago and the goal against Liverpool came about due to his shot against the post. He has scored one penalty. The goals stats are clear, he's not presented with many chances, but when he is he often puts them away. He has to drop deep and wide to try and help the team and find the ball as our service is often woeful In the last 9 games we've scored 4 goals, he's scored one, made one off his own shot and set up Cambiasso at QPR.

My mistake but this goes back to my comment if he is good enough we don't need another striker we need to change how we are playing... So we either need to drop Mahrez and or Schlupp or Pearson! These arguments go around in circles but if he is good enough we need to start creating chances and this has to fall with our wingers!

Give him a run out in the Premier League for six months and see how well he holds up with the big boys. All he does is score goals and he'd be more than a suitable option on a Championship level.
Mark_w Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Why wait until we've seen him play, let's write him off now.

We need to contribute from all over the pitch, including our other strikers. Ulloa's contribution to the goals has already exceeded most expectations. If he had a strike partner capable of the same (how many easy chances have Nugent and Vardy missed) then we might be in a different position.
