Benguin Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Apart from the one error in the first half I feel he has really proved his place in the starting 11
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Definitely a better option than Konchesky. Knowing Nige that'll be the back 4 for a while now.
Babylon Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Felt more comfortable with him there, but they didn't really go down that side to often. Still did pretty well over all.
Gio Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Definitely a better option than Konchesky. Knowing Nige that'll be the back 4 for a while now. Hope so to be honest. Could have been a clean sheet for them if it wasn't for the dodgey pens
FireFox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Really liked how he and Schlupp played together on the left.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I'd stick clear of the "definitely better than Konckesky there" comments as it's one game but that's enough for me for him to start there Saturday, if we are actually going to try and win the game.
SecretPro Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Not a big fan but would prefer him at left back to the king of donkeys that is Konch.
ronnup Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Sometimes happens that on the less favoured side it pushes a defender to be less cavalier and then defend with more concentration. Pleased with the performance.
Buzzell Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Did very well today. Fair play to him. Hope he keeps the LB spot and makes it his own.
SamB Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Would prefer him to konch but he still needs work on his positioning.
Jimmy Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 if he's forced to concentrate more at left back that could be why he defends better there, anyone but Konch so let RDL keep him place
kingfox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I admit I'm surprised by how comfortable he looked.
sdb Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I reckon he takes a year off my life every game. He was decent today and it's a toss up between him and PK, but we need a new LB big time.
Xen Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Really liked how he and Schlupp played together on the left. This. Thought he performed as well as he's been at RB for most of the season, if not better. Being a pacey player, it also allowed Schlupp a little bit more license to go forward, as with Konch behind him Schlupp's often having to track back to cover, whereas RDL's capable of doing that himself. He'll need to improve to play LB week in week out for us, but it was certainly a very promising performance and probably warrants him starting there for the next few matches.
MC Prussian Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 People had their justified doubts about him at left-back. Today, he proved all of them wrong, including me. Looked so much more composed and defensively aware. Nothing like the old, erratic De Laet of weeks and months past. Maybe, just maybe he's found his rightful spot now.
Benguin Posted 1 January 2015 Author Posted 1 January 2015 I really love him coming forward, so much pace and confidence - just needs to watch that he doesn't leave gaping holes for the counter
BigMicky Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Not a big fan but would prefer him at left back to the king of donkeys that is Konch. Has he slept with your wife? There really is no need..you need to calm down sweetheart.
Spicer Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Except for a couple of times he was good today. Should keep that position on that performance.
LCCFox96 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I'd like to see De Laet play left back against Newcastle in the FA cup game just to get another games experience under his belt in that position. Looked promising today but more pitch time in that position, at a high level but away from the pressure and intensity of the premiership, could be invaluable to him if NP and co feel he has a chance of being picked at LB ahead of Konchesky.
ousefox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Solid considering he isn't a left back. Lost Henderson a few too many times for my liking in the first half though
lgfualol Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Hopefully means Konchesky wont play for us again
Fox92 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Lost Henderson many times but other than that a better option than Konchesky.
