fuchsntf Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Just a question ... If we could force, lets say just another 10% posession,by having 1 more direct in midfield, ie. DD, Kante, inler/king sacrificing Albrighton occasionally. Would it not give Shinji a chance to play more on the front foot, spending less time falling back >too< deep. The support breaking forward, would then be even quicker, and guaranteed for longer periods.Shinjis and even Vardys defending and pressing area would be a few more yards up the field. Only a thought..
Len Finsbury Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 It's difficult not to love a player who is that happy when he scores. It's infectious!

Only a thought.. Seems like CR likes to have cover for his full backs so if we were to go 3 in the middle we'd end up losing Okazaki/vardy to the left wing I'd imagine, I'd sooner we just had him playing off vardys shoulder instead of dropping deep constantly
shen Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 wasn't Alderweireld the 1 that got dummied by Mahrez for the equaliser at home earlier this season? No that was Vertonghen. Although Wasyl did Alderweireld for the first as well. Poch won't have been too pleased.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Delighted for Shinji. Despite a few previous appearances to the contrary, he is a natural finisher. He is clearly struggling to come to terms with the physical side, but that was really clever. Mahrez would have been proud of that. It strikes me that he can do damage in the box, but he is usually running away from it in our normal set up!
Vardinio'sCat Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 One other thing. Some of the players were looking for Vardy every time (with very good reason). Feed Shinji in the box, and he will bang a few in. I'm sure the players will take that on board, and it will help our balance, and ultimately Vardy.

Only a thought.. I think that's exactly right but we need to remain aware of adding goals threat from central midfield. King contributing higher up the field with his quick one-twos - plus a shot or two - offers something extra. Kante's showed signs of getting further forward at times, Inler may eventually find his range with those reputed long-range shots of his and that just leaves Danny to find a way of shooting straight and more often. If they can evolve as a group they all have much to offer and there are one or two ways we can retain our width and striking threat especially with Gray showing willing in this department.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Some nice touches and turns but some miss placed passes. I think once he gets away from his man he just needs to relax a little bit, he seems to get over excited when he gets a bit of space and gives it away a lot. Cracking goal, walking into work this morning everyone's asking me "who's that Korean lad you had up top yesterday?". And as people have said, you can't help but love that smile!
Loggy88 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 I thought Shinji changed the game when he came on, not just his good goal but we were so much more of a threat in the second half going forward. Leo can't play on his own up top and he looked better with Shinji next to him. Gray looks good, great corner for Wasyl also a great header. Thought all the back 4 played well, Da Laet and Dyer were getting beaten down sir let side too much first half but a lot better second.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 I like what Okazaki's football is about. Energetic performances which do suit our system. If he showed the same quality and end product in the final third that he has done on occasions, like at home to Sunderland or away at West Ham, Everton and Spurs, he'd be one of our best players. Inconsistency is a slight problem but I think he's got enough about him to get on yesterday's level of performance more often! Some fantastic skill and technique on show for his goal yesterday. First time we've really seen him use individual brilliance and a bit of magic to create something for himself. More of that, more often would be scenes.
Freesolo Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 He always seems to get the goal of the rebound Great bit of skill in the box would love to see him produce more of this
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Superb close control for his goal. Good stuff from Shinji. Well done to King for the ball through, that was good too.
Bamba's Babes Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 He comes alive in the box, just rarely appears to be in there.
AKCJ Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 He makes good goals look so scruffy. He's just taken it round two, sent one defender to the cleaners and has knocked it in off the post. Anyone else and that's goal of the month.
Babylon Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 He comes alive in the box, just rarely appears to be in there. Because of how he's been played mostly. From an interview with him a few weeks ago I got the feeling it was also down to him perhaps being a little cautious. It came across that he was taking team orders to the extreme or just taking time to adapt to doing both sides of the game, when he's used to being the 9 mostly. He said he wanted to be more attacking and get into more attacking areas and would make that effort. Since then I think I've seen him certainly do that... and it's resulted in two goals and a penalty win.
Rasmic123 Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 showed tenacity sunday but also thought he showed a new side to his game, intelligence. Definitely seemed to make a lot of good decisions on and off the ball to either get a counter going or relieve pressure. Nobody doubts Okazaki's work rate, but if he can start playing with intelligence and adding more goals to his game, he could be a real asset for us until the end of the season. Hope he does well for us, always nice to see someone working hard and playing with a smile on their face
Monsell1976 Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 He's offered very little all season, but looked better on Sunday, clearly prefers the vardy role, a little heartening that he might do alright if vardy gets injured.
fuchsntf Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 I reckon we know what we get from Ulloa ( still a good alternative), but its only now coming to the fore, for some what he does actually have in his locker. If Vardy doesnt make the spurs match, then Shinji should lead the line. I had seen alot of him at Mainz, but I was a bit suprised we went for him,but hey-ho he never let Mainz down. He played up front, or attacking midfield. He started well for us, but never really kicked on, the FA-cup game shown fans what hes about, and does have the skills, more importantly it would have gave him more self belief within himself. Now with Claudio confirming city are not committing to chase in the Jan-transfer market, both he and Ulloa have now time to improve and prove on their talents. If Vardy, and Mahrez can keep up on any semblance of shown form, we have depth in the squad, then to complete at least this season on an high, summer will be another chapter depending our furnished finish. We the fans should not worry about, outsiders comments on difficulties what other teams had, this is our chance, our season, that fate has handed us, the team has given us a spetacular run in 20 games the story is not yet finished, but I am sure we will achieve our highest PL position, I am not looking for promises, or praying to the gods, this season has given a mystery tour to die for, no matter where it ends, its wiped out the last 10yrs, because the scenery, the journey has been spetacular, and we dont want to get off. Claudio Ranieri, both driver and conductor, with wise owners behind him.
theessexfox Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 Thought he displayed confidence he's rarely showed before with some of his smart turns on Sunday, very good sign.
foxes21 Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 I reckon he can get at least 10 goals for the season. That would be a decent return. He's on four atm isn't he?
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 I've thought for a while now since the Everton away game he might go on a run and score quite a few goals for us. He gets in the right positions which is promising and hopefully each goal he scores it will continue to boost his confidence, to then score more.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 I reckon he can get at least 10 goals for the season. That would be a decent return. He's on four atm isn't he? I feel he could get 10, I'd certainly agree with that. He's scored 4 yes. That includes league and cup.
fuchsntf Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 If he only scores 4 more, so long as he gives 10 assists I would be happy.
