Shinji Okazaki

Not going to lie, I think I'm in love with Shinji. He's not the best player that will ever play for us, he spend approx 30 minutes crawling around as if he's lost his contact lenses but he looks like he's getting stronger and he will chip in with 7-10 goals this year I recon which will be a fantastic return.

And Iv never in my life seen anyone quite as happy as him when he scores lol.

It was a top finish, great first touch and cracking shot ... I think he had a very good game, and this proved to me that he is now ahead of Ulloa for that role. Ulloa isn't taking the chances, that cost us against Man U and may have cost us yesterday

Not much has been said about that goal, but it was pure class. A wonderful pass threaded through a minimal gap by Vardy, perfectly directed and weighted, but Okazaki still had much to do. With very little time or space, he controlled it perfectly and hit it quickly, directing it coolly past the keeper. Very calm and clinical.

Presumably decided by someone on their Xmas holidays. :xmasdry:

Nobody decided that--whoscored ratings are all based on statistics.

Okazaki drew one penalty, scored the eventual game-winner, won 5 aerial duels against bigger defenders, and made several good defensive plays on both sides of the pitch. He might have been a little sloppy in the first 20 minutes or so, but it's not completely unreasonable to suggest he could have won MotM.

Quite. I have difficulty in seeing Austin as part of our pressing style.

Austin is hardworking. He'd have no problem with our pressing style.

He's still adapting, like Inler would be if he was getting games, think some of you need to give the guy a break, he's largely playing behind Vardy, a position he isn't accustomed to in a League he doesn't know. Luckily Ranieri can see what he offers us even if some fans can't.

shinji is important - when he plays we defend higher up; he is in their faces. Ulloa gives the defenders a diffent worry formt hat of vardy - we need both ulloa and shinji - but fofor each match we have to start with one or the other... nice problem to have.

Agreed. Austin is an upgraded version of Ulloa in my opinion so don't see why he can't do that role and score a lot of these chances Ulloa is missing too. I rate Ulloa but Austin would chip in with a lot of goals. Imagine Vardy, Austin and Mahrez scoring goals for fun!

Austin has made it clear he will only move to Southampton during the season (for family reasons) otherwise he will see out his contract

What people are forgetting with Austin is we bid for him in the summer. Steve Walsh has identified him. I'm sure we will bid in January.

The day after an unpopular decision was made we bid well below the known asking price and didn't return with an improved offer? We defo want him...

And the fact that it's a fvcking stupid post

The first part was tongue in cheek, do you not think its a bit weird that no one gambled on him? He's a proven goal scorer but failed a medical before and if you remember I think the West Ham owner tweeted something about a knee injury.

Yeah we all know his knees are jelly, but to claim he's a Coke head lol lol

I think what you are forgetting is that Ranieri cancelled the next bid going in for Austin. Which If I remember correctly Kevin Phillips confirmed on his SSN blog.

Shinji Okazaki thanked manager Claudio Ranieri for his faith after his goal at Everton secured Leicester City’s place as the Barclays Premier League’s Christmas leaders.

Okazaki’s third goal of the season proved decisive in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Toffees, while the Japanese international’s performance fully justified his reintroduction, having only started one of the Foxes’ previous six Premier League games.

The summer signing from Mainz feels his reputation, and his return to the side, has been built on hard work, but he now wants to prove himself as a goalscorer in English football.

“I believe I came back into the team because I have trained hard and performed well in practice sessions,” Shinji told the media after Saturday’s game.

“Leo [ulloa] has been performing brilliantly for the past two matches, so I appreciate the manager not giving up on me and giving me a chance.

“I’m aware that I have managed to gain a reputation as a hard worker, but my aim now is to be recognised as a goalscorer as well.”

Okazaki’s goal was as devastating for Everton as it was galvanising for City. Shortly after Riyad Mahrez’s second penalty of the afternoon had regained the Foxes’ lead, Okazaki was alive to a turnover and ghosted into space to clinically dispatch a pass from strike partner Jamie Vardy.

Shinji felt the goal was a reward for his decision to take a more positive approach to the game and seize the opportunity he had been given.

“The first touch wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to score,” he confessed.

“Before the start of the game, I decided not be afraid to make a mistake and push myself forward and become more dominant in the game. As a result, I feel this goal was my reward for this change in strategy. I really wanted to score a goal today, so I feel such relief now.

“I also appreciate the presence of Jamie and recognise his ability and skill in predicting my position and helping to set up goals.”

Hope he carries on this mentality. Go on OKachan

I actually reckon at some point he will start scoring quite a few. Either after that Everton goal on Saturday he scored or at some stage. I've just got a feeling.
