cityfanlee23 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Love me some Shinji hope he carries on playing. First season in the league remember and although he's not scoring as many goals as I'm sure he'd want to he is contributing lots to the team in other ways. A lot like a certain Leicester striker last season, maybe? Let's hope so. Still think we need to strengthen that position as he's been the weak link at times, but I think we should sell Ulloa or Kramaric and hope shinji comes good like the 2nd half yesterday. Prefer ulloa there personally but Shinji needs time.
Soar Fox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 As much as I like Ulloa I think he's been pretty wasteful in front of goal this season when he's had his chances.
Fox92 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Okazaki was MOTM for me yesterday. Bridged the gap between the midfield and Vardy superb yet again. I had an idiot stood near me shouting "we don't play well when we play two strikers like this" but Okazaki doesn't play up front with Vardy as a 2, he's behind and the job he does/did was excellent. Good finish, too.
Guest Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I know people won't like this seeing as he scored the goal and won the penalty but I thought his all-round play yesterday was pretty awful. Seems to have a real inability to stay on his feet (think there was only one or two times yesterday where the ball went in to him and he didn't end up on his arse) and his ball retention was terrible at times (including at times when we really needed him to just hold the ball in order to relieve some pressure). First half Vardy was pretty much playing up front by himself and we had to switch from aiming our kicks to Shinji to sending them Vardy's way because Okazaki was winning nothing, often just jumping a couple of seconds too soon meaning that he was on his way down from his jump as the ball arrived. I admire his spirit and enthusiasm, and I get the fact that he's a hard worker, but I'm yet to be really convinced that he can hack it at this level. For me, someone to go alongside Vardy is of paramount importance for us in January and, for all he doesn't set the world alight at times, I much prefer Ulloa to Shinji. He was the best player on the pitch yesterday. Stunning second half.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Outside of the defence he was no better or worse than anyone else, thought he got into more dangerous positions yesterday then he has previously and it showed with an assist and a goal.

Okazaki does a totally different job to Ulloa. We wouldn't have won the penalty with Ulloa in the team. Okazaki drops behind a helps out the midfield magnificently. As for goal kicks, we shouldn't be kicking them long anyway. We won't win anything with two small strikers on the pitch. Only time we won anything in the air was when Vardy pulled onto the full backs.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 From what I can tell the general consensus is that he was rubbish yesterday apart from when he won us a peno and scored to effectively win us the match?
Countryfox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 From what I can tell the general consensus is that he was rubbish yesterday apart from when he won us a peno and scored to effectively win us the match? Amazing. I was watching a similar but obviously slightly different match on a parallel universe where he seemed to play quite well.
Merging Cultures Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I just want him to stay on his feet more. I am sure he can do so much better. Perhaps he will now he has another goal.

I agree, he goes down way to easily... and does sometimes effect our flow... however he played very well yesterday and actually defended corners well too
Merging Cultures Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I agree, he goes down way to easily... and does sometimes effect our flow... however he played very well yesterday and actually defended corners well tooHe got a few headers in which was impressive given Evertons height. In the write ups, a few have mentioned in the first half we were doing long high balls, which totally favoured them. Ranieri told them to keep it down, which worked better for us. First half, I'd have had Ulloa on, to help us with height. But when it was played on the floor Oka played much better. Despite doing well winning balls in the air from set pieces.

Cept when he gets us a pen ! Overall I thought he played well and got into some good positions. At the moment though balls get played to JV and RM as we know they do the business, but he was ready and in the right place ... look at when JV got our pen ... Shinji was probably in a better position for a pass. Not complaining but nice to see him getting there and providing an option.

Dr The Singh Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 His effort was superb, but we have a problem, he is not good enough to be in a top 4 or top 10 team, he was comical and wasteful at times. This is one area we can improve without substantial costs eg Austin
MooseBreath Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 His goals to minutes played ratio is now 50% better than Ulloa.
foxfanazer Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 As one of his critics I feel it's only right to applaud him for his contribution yesterday. Started in usual Shinji fashion, falling over his shadow and not being able to control the ball but after that he really took the game by the scruff of the neck. Took his goal really well too. Nice on Shinji!
weller54 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Austin would be a good signing.. Back up for vardy.. Desperately need someone!

Well the general consensus knows jack ****. Thankfully our manager can see what he brings to to the team, albeit with some improvement to come.

Spiritwalker Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 After reading some of the reports on his goal on the match ratings I was expecting to see a 6 yard tap in on MOTD last night. What I actually saw was a very well taken goal.

What I actually saw was a very well taken goal. It was a top finish, great first touch and cracking shot ... I think he had a very good game, and this proved to me that he is now ahead of Ulloa for that role. Ulloa isn't taking the chances, that cost us against Man U and may have cost us yesterday
BlueBlue Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Austin wouldn't fit into the present style of play, he's too slow. That's why nobody has bought him. Okazaki has a lot to learn, but then so did Vardy. He's a fighter though as is Ulloa. What they lack in form or quality they make up for in effort.

I have difficulty in seeing Austin as part of our pressing style.
