sdb Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Our midfield do always seem overrun - I can't figure out why because as a team we do work hard for each other
Salieri Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Forest lost again today, I thought they were odds on for the title? I had a bet with a Forest mate of mine, £50 that we would stay up and £50 that Forest won't go up. At least one of the bets looking safe so far.

Raj Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Might still have my blue tinted specs on but i thought the atmosphere was cracking in 2nd half considering the tension at 1-0!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Tunnel cam.....knockaert only person that looked well happy with the win! keep him in nige he could be the diffrence. http://bit.ly/1w7HBOr Cambiasso welcoming the players into the dressing room, happy with that reaction! Looks like Hammond was feeling his injury, if he's fit I'd start him next week.
StanSP Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Might still have my blue tinted specs on but i thought the atmosphere was cracking in 2nd half considering the tension at 1-0! It was great. I think the tension actually helped it!
ScouseFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Might still have my blue tinted specs on but i thought the atmosphere was cracking in 2nd half considering the tension at 1-0! yeh was an enjoyable second half for sure. I wasn't even particularly tense, villa were such dogmuck they barely even threatened. usually at 1-0 the second half (especially the last 15) seems like its lasting about 2 hours because it's so nervy and tense. flew by today.

Rasmic123 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 have to say that hammond and james should not play together, the amount of times i found myself shouting at them to push up was ridiculous. both sit far too deep (even when we were 0-0) and against a better team they would have been punished. desperately need drinkwater back for stoke
The Blur Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 at Konchesky's face at having to do the drug test!

It didn't fly by for me today . Just didn't want us to make a mistake and let them in!
iancognito Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 at Konchesky's face at having to do the drug test! Wasn't that the TV guys taking him to one side? Also, does anyone know what that track is that plays in the background when the clock's counting down before the game, has a lot of catchy guitar riffs in it?
Raj Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It didn't fly by for me today . Just didn't want us to make a mistake and let them in!felt like 2 hrs in.the second half..was waiting for the obligatory defensive fook up for gabby to equalise ...
fuchsntf Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The reason why he's 'under-rated' Raj, is because you rarely see Hammond do tricks, fancy flicks, 40 yard passes or score goals. But he does what he does WELL. He breaks up atttacks, wins the ball, shields the defence and mops up. Every team needs a grafter like this. He's pretty much worth his weight in gold and again, we look a STRONGER unit when we have a more mobile midfield. I don't think Hammond gets anywhere near enough praise. Why? Because he aint a world-renowned name and he does his work quietly. Hit the nail thrre col. I havent seen all his games, but he is sought of a nice guy Nobby Styles, I for one wasnt suprised NP went for him, at the beginning of the season. Quick question, with James out (red card) and if Drinkwater and Cambiasso dont recover, who slots in. Can Lawrence hold his own, or do you maybe drop Nugent back ( Like the Birch did successfully), or King natural choice replacement, teaming up again with Hammond same as season begin ???
ScouseFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It didn't fly by for me today . Just didn't want us to make a mistake and let them in! yeh that's what it's usually like but I never felt uncomfortable for one moment in the 90, we could still be playing on the 10th of jan 2017 an I don't think villa would've created a chance let alone scored. worst side ive seen play us for years, not just this year.
The Guvnor Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Just got back. Great win against the yam yam's! Positive performance building on our recent upturn in form could have been at least three or four nil mainly down to Guzan. Was, Knockaert and Albrighton had extremely solid games. Albrighton put in a sublime pass, megged a Villa defender then Nuge appeared to miss a sitter and Tony looked on exasperated. Really enjoyed the game and worth the journey COYB!!!!!!!!!

Corky Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Huge win, much needed and a third clean sheet in four matches. The performance was mixed, gave the ball away a lot, plenty of wayward passes but going forward we looked a threat and should've had more than one goal. Never really looked troubled at the back but 1-0 is a precarious scoreline and we couldn't be too comfortable. Albrighton and Knockaert played well out wide, Simpson composed at right back, Hammond seems to move in slow motion, Konchesky's goal was great but all round wasn't brilliant, Nugent had a usual match, bits of brilliance and bits of comedy. The CB pairing were immense, cutting out through balls, winning the aerial battles and making us look solid in the centre. Downside was James' sending off to end the game sourly. But we needed that result and we got it. Good day.
johnny the fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 To be fair ..I would of been a bit worried if we couldn't beat a team managed by "last third" Lambert ..
Dr The Singh Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Finishing was poor, Nugent's miss is a classic!! Ulloa was poor. Team worked really hard, deserved the win
fuchsntf Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It's typical that the teams around us seem to be also hitting a bit of form just as we start winning and getting our share of luck in matches. Having said that, over the course of the remainder of the season I can certainly see us being better then at least three teams: Aston Villa - they were awful and deserved to lose today. They can't score and seem to have no attacking instinct and I think they will be in trouble this season. 18th. Hull - they are too inconsistent and are at their worst more then they are at their best. Undoubtedly they have a talented squad but I think they might be the unfortunate sufferers of second season syndrome. 19th. QPR - I genuinely can't see them staying up. Their defence is too leaky, sure they create chances but Charlie Austin won't stay in goal scoring form all season, even the best strikers have dry spells and Austin isn't even in that bracket. I think with them it's a case of 'when' they cave in as opposed to 'if' they cave in. 20th. And as for the rest of our catchable opponents: Burnley - they will come unstuck sooner or later because they just aren't good enough for this league. Their players give their all and fair play to them but they can't get away from the bottom 5 or so at their best and when they do have a run of bad results they won't be too far away from relegation. 17th. Crystal Palace - I don't think Crystal Palace will get relegated, Alan Pardew is a good manager and will get them over the line but they certainly aren't out of our reach. 14th. Sunderland - the fact that they are a hard team to beat will save them, but they are gonna be right down there. 15th. I think the rest are un-catchable. Make no mistake that this is our mini league for the rest of the season and we are more then capable of winning it, I'm going for us to finish 16th. There is only 5 points between us all. Well thought out post, 1 point I disagree with I reckon many people have underrated Burnley and Dyche. One can see a system and continuity steady growing.Importantly they have a couple of goalscorers, who are now proving they can do it in the PL.This month and Febuary IMO the fixtures are on their side, plus they have also shown they can take injuries. Though like City, if they do survive spending in the summer, is a must. Dont care what some foxes fans think, Burnley are playing some good football. l QPR have quality, but make more stupid mistakes than city, but can nick points, find home form may confirm my haunt comment from last season Hull like you said good squad, for me also quite a conundrum, expected top 12 from them. Sunderland, have the players deep into their squad, but maybe not the geil, Both us + Burnley could jump over them. A.Villa I used to like and respect them, last 10 years gone right off them, they find 3-4 top players, then 5-6 lazy souls. WBA, even with Pullis will struggle further, they will stay in the mix, or find real home form, also goalscorer in their team. CP. Now a good manager, IMO possibly the best team from bottom 6-8 teams.Small ldn club, great fans. Newcastle/Stoke/ Everton, this season not in our ballpark this season, but we could take points off them. Magpies/potters home games, unless we can steal point against the big teams we need 6 pts against these 2.
daddylonglegs Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Really pleased with the amount of chances we created today but the only way to describe our play in the final third is totally retarded. Sometimes (Ulloax2, Nugentx2) it looks like our strikers genuinely don't want to score. What the **** was Ulloa doing today? Still not really that arsed tho. 3 points.
Rasmic123 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 skybet are giving 8/1 on lambert to be the next premier league manager to be sacked if anyone fancies making a few bucks
