Stadt Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Of they've came in with a starting bid of £5m they're obviously quite keen, we don't need to sell so we can have them over a barrel with this one. Recently Vardy has looked like how he did in his first season. He's too real isn't on his pace and can't even use that sometimes. He's useful but he'll be 4th choice when Caramac signs
ADK Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I'm shocked by the amount of people that would sell him!!! I'd keep him. Brilliant pace threat to bring on from the bench and worry the life out of defenders. If we are leading then he really stops the opposition from pushing defenders up. People always seem to want to sell our players. I don't think people comprehend the reality of the transfer market.
LCCFox96 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The same way Burnley won't sell Ings to us as a relegation rival why should we sell Vardy to West Brom as they are too relegation rivals. Vardy was a catalyst in our promotion and has again been a live wire for us this season. If he can adapt/improve his finishing to premiership level then we have a good top level player on our hands. Besides we need to strenghen our striking options by bringing players in and not selling one of our current top 3 picks. And the argument say use the money to buy another player could be pointless. If we can, according to media speculation, afford to put down an £8mil bid on Okazaki or bring in Defoe for a decent price (hypothetical examples) do we really need to sell Vardy to fund such a move? I doubt it. I'd rather have him as an option in our squad than playing against us.
65RosesFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I'm a big fan of Vardy's and I just think at the minute he is low on confidence massively. £5m is a reasonable price however my concern is, if we sell and he gets his confdence up and shows similar performances to last season he could potentially be the difference between WBA staying up rather than going dwon, and it could be at the expense of us. As we don't need to sell, I would keep him, but he needs to do a lot more if he wants to get a place in the starting XI.
bovril Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Has there ever been a player whose stock has gone down, up and down again like Jamie Vardy? Keep him, he'll have a part to play this season.
Guest ttfn Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Vardy of March 2014 was worth £5 million and then some. Current Vardy is dire. Only concern is that he could be really important next season if we get relegated.
StarFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think he's low on confidence at at. Sure he hasn't scored many goals, but he contributes to the side.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 If he wants to go fair enough, but what reason do we have to sell? £4 million is nothing, we ain't scrimping for pennies anymore.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Don't sell to potential relegation rivals, no need to sell at all
LCFCFOX6190 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I'd sell for 5M. Just not sure he can cut it at this level.
Carl the Llama Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Has everyone forgotten he's English? Surely that makes him worth 15 million minimum.
Soar Fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think he's short on confidence he just looks out of his depth at this level. It's no coincidence that we've started picking up points again with Nugent in the team instead of him.
kingfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Yep as others have said it would be stupid to sell him to a relegation rival. He just needs a goal to give him a boost.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Do we need to sell? Nah, keep him. His improvement has been outstanding, I'd like to back him to continue and if we don't need to sell then I'd like to see how this continues.
Larry_LCFC Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 You only need to rewatch the United match to see what he is capable of in form and with confidence. He was a machine.
Danizen Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 If this move goes through, he's guaranteed to dick all over us at The Hawthorns. Keep him unless he's desperate to go.
Mark_w Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think he's short on confidence he just looks out of his depth at this level. It's no coincidence that we've started picking up points again with Nugent in the team instead of him. Nugent/Ulloa as a partnership works much more effectively than Vardy/Ulloa. But I still think Jamie's the better striker. £5,000,000 for a 27(?) year old who hasn't done an awful lot at this level is tempting, but I'm sure he'll start scoring for fun if he goes to West Brom. Tough choice, and I'm really not sure I'd risk it, he could be vital if Kramaric isn't a success/doesn't get his work permit. Will always love him for the United performance and last season if he goes though.
SilverFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 He has half a season of experience at this level. Keep him. Use him and his pace from the bench for impact when we look flat. When he has more experience the rest of his game will follow. I would not sell him. I wouldn't even think about it.
Kitchandro Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Vardy is our pace. We had none on the field until he came on today. When he is in form, hes lethal. Would be extremely disappointed to see him go. Yeh agreeing with this really. £5m to the club is not like £5m to us. I really can't see why people would be spaffing over it. We're having to pay far more than that to get quality strikers in at this level. I think Vardy is exactly the sort of player we need when we're in the position we're in. He's a fighter, and his movement off the ball creates so many openings. He's a different player to any other we have, and can often be the most effective we have. He's certainly a better all round player than Nugent and Wood. He's out of form and that's why I think people are asking for hands to be snapped off. Hopefully the decision makers at our club take their time a bit more about important decisions. Besides, I'd rather him sit on the bench and be shit for us (worst case scenario if he stays) than be an absolute nightmare for defenders and keep West Brom up at our expense (worst case scenario if he goes). Nah, keep him please.

It's no coincidence that we've started picking up points again with Nugent in the team instead of him. Is that a joke? We won today in spite of the fact he missed 2 sitters. Fortunately a fvcking left back showed him how it's done. I'm not having Nugent is better than Vardy based on this, or in fact last season. Because Nugent scored a cracker against Liverpool he's all of a sudden a hero and Vardy is yesterday's news.
RowlattsFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 We'll never get a better off for him I don't think but at the same time don't want to sell him to a rival.

Nah, keep him please. Three million more got Ulloa who has been very good in front of goal, 4 or so more got Kramaric who Chelsea were interested in. If Nigel is confident the guy from Mainz added to what we have can keep us up, and the £5,000,000 would push that over the line, then I think we'd have to think very carefully about it. £5,000,000 is a very fair offer.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 I don't see the point in selling him at all. Especially to someone who can only benefit from it at our expense. If we want to sell him, then do it in the summer.

Kramaric was almost double the price and he's completely unproven outside of Croatia. £5m is not going to get us much. I doubt we need that sort of money to 'push deals over the line', we've already bought one for about £10m and have bid about £8m more for someone else.
