LCCFox96 Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 Very disappointed we were unable to add a left back. The deals we have done I'm pleased with as each of the signings add something to our squad. Its the lack of other deals that render me a little disillusioned. How the left back situation continues to go unaddressed depresses me - it might not be through a lack of trying but it is frustrating nonetheless. A CDM of Fletcher or Capoue's ilk would have been nice too! But stop all this we're doomed crap! Plenty of points to play for. 1 game at a time. 3 points is hardly and unretrievable deficit! Keep the faith!
Bagworthblue Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 Ah poor Nigel is frustrated. Well he can f... Please explain the 'complexity' of buying players 'these days'. If it's not too complex. They have to want to come to a club bottom of the prem They have to be better than what we have They have to be a reasonable price They have to want to come Their club has to want to let them go Their club has to line up a replacement often before letting them go They have to agree a contract that suits them and we are willing / able to offer Their agent must agree his fee We must agree to the agent's fee They have to want to come And that's before you start trying to agree the terms of the contract so that we are not screwed if relegated which the player will accept agreeing length of terms that we are willing to offer that they will accept agreeing salary terms that both parties can accept In reality the chain never got started ans so players didn't get freed up by their clubs to get the bigger ball rolling. If you want to but a £100,000 house, you need the seller to find a 200,000 house and when he does, he needs that seller to find a 400,000 house who in turn needs his seller to find a 600,000 house. Once all agreed, if any part of the chain falls through then the whole lot stalls. Ok you can pick a few holes in this analogy where it differs from buying a player in football but in effect it's similar. Nothing moved today! well very little anyway!
Isle of Wight Fox 86 Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 Not gonna bother wasting my time. If you knew 1% of what I do you'd understand but you clearly have your own opinion so goodluck to u I'm sure a read a newspaper article a while ago (a couple years maybe) about transfers and how they are complex and how long some of them can take weeks to negotiate. We haven't been smashed in a game yet so hopefully that will stay like that for the rest of the season. We are only 3 points off safety and still in the FA Cup. The fat lady hasn't even arrived in the building. LTID
Callabinho Posted 2 February 2015 Posted 2 February 2015 I can appreciate that the January window is near impossible to work in, but I would like to ask why we've signed young Krameric, and continue to smash long balls up to the attackers? A central attacking midfielder was simply a must for me, otherwise I fear Krama will really struggle to get goals.

Maybe Nugent will play more often in that hole behind two strikers - and couldn't Knockaert play CAM, too?

MC Prussian Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Are yiu actually that stupid? No, he's just not too complex.
ronnup Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I am shocked we've not got a left back in, but we may well have tried very hard.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Why didn't we go in for Fletcher on a free transfer?!?

RedSoxUK Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Why didn't we go in for Fletcher on a free transfer?!? An aging injury prone, walking financial burden who's going to cost West Brom 60k+ a week in wages for 2 and a half years of potential Championship football? + he shits himself.
ozleicester Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Im just disappointed with our signings this season, we have not strengthened as much as i had hoped we would (or as much as we probably need to) and as a result i am less confident of survival than i was at the end of last season. get ready folks its gonna get exciting... "Strap yourself in and feel the G's
Burmesefox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 We signed 3 players. Third highest number in the prem.
Ric Flair Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Derby have probably had a better transfer window than we have!!!
Strokes Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Derby have probably had a better transfer window than we have!!!What does that matter, we aren't competing with Derby.
Spanner73 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I'm not pished either way because I wasn't expecting much more after the Kram deal. Pleased with Huth, disapointed about no CM. However I do think shutting up shop at 9pm and fookin off home shows a lack of intent. Shows how difficult it must have been and how badly we really have struggled to get anyone in. Where's all the posters who were banging on and on over the last 10 days about how there's plenty of time, not to panic and all the deals are done in the last 12 hours.... Your absolutely spot on with your comments pal the whole window has been a joke and their still backing pearson !!!
teblin Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 We have done ok in this window, signed a steady back up keeper, A solid premier league centre back and one of the most promising strikers in the whole of europe. I'm not sure why we haven't signed a left back, but I was in the summer too. Though the biggest issue we have is scoring and creating goals and hopefully the return of Mahrez will help with that. Biggest issue is i'm still not sure nigel knows what his best team is.
narboroughblue Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Could have been better but all in all compared to those around us it's been a decent window. 3 points behind and now some new recruits to add experience and hopefully goals in addition to the return of Mahrez and James. Bring on Palace.
weller54 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 What does that matter, we aren't competing with Derby. Won't be next season.. They'll be in the premier league.
J.Lisemore Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Now's the time to shine then Paul, prove us all wrong.
indierich06 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Let's be about right here the man had all summer he told us all who his targets were he had more time than snyone else to assemble the squad he failed , he underestimated the league and stuck with his current squad through thick and thin knowing we needed more then had the excuse to say the jan window was difficult to operate in , well yes Nigel that's why you should have done your business in the summer !!!! He's failed again now and for that he should be relieved of his duties if he stays and he brings us back up we'll be hearing the same thing over , I'm sorry he has to go !! Yeah, bloody Pearson sticking with the same squad that got us promoted! ...Except he absolutely hasn't at all. Don't know if you missed it, but we've signed: 2 goalkeepers - one with decent potential and one with a vast amount of PL experience. 2 centre backs - both with massive amounts of PL experience. A right back with PL experience. A right winger with PL experience. A young left winger with bags of potential from one of the best academies in the country. A CM who has played at the highest level for his entire career. 2 strikers for a combined fee of nearly £20 million quid, one of whom we pinched from under the noses of Chelsea, the other of whom has already bagged nearly 10 goals. But yeah, if you don't count those 10 players, then I suppose he's just 'stuck with the old squad'.
Happy Fox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Getting Huth is a coup when fit he is a top 10 prem standard CB far better than any of our current CBs.
Ric Flair Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 What does that matter, we aren't competing with Derby. It just highlights how frustrating it's been for us. Our relegation rivals have had a mixed bag as well which rather than being thankful of I'm actually annoyed as again it was a chance for us to steal a march on them. Let's hope this squad can unearth some consistency and real bravery that they've not shown the the majority of this season, otherwise it's back to Manish and Steve at 11.55pm every Saturday.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I will support the 11 men on the pitch for the rest of the season. No point being a Newcastle fan and abuse my own players. They are as good as they are or as bad as they are. (Well apart from konch, who is in a league of his own). But our Nige is a different story. Never been his biggest fan but hard not to respect what he has done at this club BUT much of his decision making this season has been diabolical and I feel the blame of this season must lie solely with him. Pearson out whenever. Now, tomorrow, in 5 months. Doesn't really matter. The idea that he is the man to take us back into the Prem is hilarious. 10 years we waited for this and we are going down without a fight On and Off the pitch. Let's just put 11 men behind the ball. Don't put any pressure on the ball. Give away 70% possession. Put on a winger and take off the only player capable of getting on the end of the crosses. Be happy that no one has beat us by 3 clear goals all season yah de yahda... Hilarious. I mean, what has he ever done with teams in The Championship before?
