I think you are taking a joke a bit too seriously.

Is it a joke?

I asked a question whether people were actually crying and some have said yes?

Were they joking? It doesn't seem like it?

everyone who's opinion is worth listening to

There ya go...

You should go into politics ..... "everyone I like thinks the same" so I can proclaim it to be a unanimous opinion!!!

nobody is happy being bottom. but everyone is aware that nigel pearson's the best man for the job and that the last time we started chopping and changing managers we went from top 10 in the premier league to league one, and only returned through the fact that we stuck by a manager (this manager).

we're going through a tough run but there is absolutely no way any of the names listed would suddenly come in and turn a deflated squad around and keep us up. the players and the fans are pretty much unanimously behind pearson for a reason.

That's precisely it

It's not like anyone on the board has any real knowledge to unearth a Pochettino-type appointment and that's why we see all the usual journeymen managers linked with us

That is the bit that worries me.

The lack of knowledge at board level ....

But then if your full time job was to unearth a manager and you spent a few weeks researching that project I reckon anyone could trawl through the leagues around the world and come up with some interesting options.

Is it really that hard??

Didn't cry but I was quite upset. Felt a bit sick in my stomach which is still quite a reaction I suppose.

For the record, I was surprised. I said as much last night as I didn't think the Board would have the bottle/want to make a change. As it stands, my surprise was founded. They didn't.

But crying over it? Man up a little guys..

People respond in different ways - I have only ever genuinely been saddened by football twice, Watford away and yesterday.

The guy is an absolute hero and the best manager we've had in my lifetime.

Watford was just on another level. Physically ill after that game.

People on both sides of the argument covered themselves in no glory at all last night.

Some of those against NP celebrated in the most disrespectful way and those for him were extremely over the top in how they would react (protests against the new manager, NP masks at the new managers first game etc).

All in all it was a couple of hours that we could all have done without. Especially Mark Albrighton.....

I went and sat on the beach at Charlestown amd just stared at the sea for about an hour. Couldnt quite believe it.

"Sorry if you read that tweet from the Wife, she thinks I should be playing every game that's all.  I am happy to fight for a place in the team."

Sorted.

I agree re Albrighton Betts. His girlfriend should have been a bit more tactful, that said though, she is only probably sharing what his personal view is.

He must seriously wonder what he has done to upset Nigel Pearson who made such a thing of signing him in the summer.

We can't say it is a one off incident either re players he has brought/had in his squad. Still never understand how Danns went from being his replacement captain to then never playing for him again - irrespective of ability.

What happened with Albrighton?

They probably were going to sack him but realised that if they could lump it all on the McArthur incident then they could do it without paying a penny in compensation. So probably waiting for the outcome of any investigation. All guess work.

While, trying to be objective, I believe a change makes sense - especially if we intend to stay up - I'm also a big supporter of what Pearson has done for us, so it's hardly a disappointment to have him in charge. Plus the confusion may actually provide us with that 'wake-up moment' he's struggled to bring about. The confusion could even tell us something about what went wrong in the transfer market - it's not so much that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, it's more that they are totally at odds with one another.

However, it's worth pointing out that moving a manager on has often worked out well for us in the short-term: we sacked Hamilton and stayed up under Pleat, sacked Pleat and stayed up under Lee, sacked Levein and stayed up under Kelly, sacked Sousa and shot up the table under Sven, sacked Sven and went up (eventually) under Pearson.

Even involuntary mid-season changes in manager haven't always gone wrong - while it fell flat for McGhee and Levein, it worked out fine for O'Neill. And some of our other mid-season managerial departures might not have had an immediate impact, but made sense nonetheless in the long run (Taylor, arguably even Allen and Megson). So the picture on that score is far from clear.

We're worried about it happening because of how long we spent falling apart after O'Neill left, though that has less to do with substandard managers and more to do with other circumstances. Ultimately our years in the shade owe a lot to Taylor; first with relegation, then financial collapse, then the fact that Adams, Levein, Kelly all had to work within the limitations of that financial collapse, and finally the haphazard attempts to recover from it in the early Mandaric era. Bringing in a new manager is always scary, but if you look at the names who have kept sides in this league, or even won promotion to it, then it's clear that the most unlikely names can work out.

So maybe we shouldn't be too terrified by the prospect, especially if we have a stable financial footing - thanks to the Thais and to Pearson - to build on. And it's possible for one manager to be great for a club, but for another manager to have to come in to build on that.

I get the impression over the years it doesn't take much to rile him, and as we saw post match Palace he hadn't even let the altercation go by post match interviews.

But Albrighton, he was a bad signing in the first place and I've no complaints with his lack of involvement. He's failed for years at Villa, and we gave him a chance to come here on big money. We're a small side as it is so cross after cross will more often than not be met by an opposition defenders head.

This 'the fans are almost unanimously behind him'

I don't know anyone that wants to keep him, only talking about 40 or 50 fans but literally nobody thinks he should stay.

Well I am exactly the opposite. I know nobody who wants him out. All depends on who you know and surround yourself with.

Conversely, I know no one who wants him to go at the moment, maybe sometime ago or at some point in the future, but now? Bizarre, at best!

What does either point prove?

Were people actually crying?

Genuine question.

If the answer is yes, then people are taking their football incredibly seriously.

Everyone cried, he's like a God to us.
