Tottenham - Sat 21st March

Weve tried 4 at the back, 5 at the back, 4 in midfield, 3-4-3 (alledgedly), and played the diamond.

And yet weve never really given a 4-2-3-1 a chance, whilst being one of the most successful formations used in football today. I just find this weird.

A team of:

----------------------------------Schwarzer

De Laet----------Wasilewski---------------Huth----------------Konchesky

---------------------------James--------Cambiasso

-----Mahrez--------------------Nugent------------------------------Schlupp

---------------------------------Kramaric

Now its probably all far too late to be throwing another formation into the equation, but surely this would have given us a bit of everything that weve been lacking:

Extra legs in midfield, with Nugent being able to drop back and make a 5 if needed to snuff out attacks before they reach our defence, whilst also protecting Cambiasso's fitness if he is likely to play

Going forward it allows Mahrez to cut in from wide and give De Laet overlap opportunities and opportunities to create 2 v 1 situations with him to drag defenders away

It gives much needed support to Kramaric who is often isolated in the other formations we play

Ideally with Nugents energy (even if he blew up after 65, you could still use Vardy thereafter to do the same role id have thought) it gives us the option to press from the front, stop the short distribution and win the ball back higher up the pitch.

Its too late now though to try and impress another tactical change, i know that.

We've tried every formation this season and we've been shit with all of them.

4231 is just a posh modern way of saying 442 and is pretty much what we started the season playing, with Nugent behind ulloa.

I do think that's what we need to play, especially at home.

Alot of Mersons predictions have been us getting a result. His prediction for when we went to Old Trafford was us getting a draw. Not many pundits would put the bottom of the league team getting something at Old Trafford.

Clearly he has lost his marbles lol

He's going to look like a genius if we somehow stay up, he's backed us a lot hasn't he. Maybe Nige doesn't like him and is losing games to tarnish his career in punditry.

If Pearson's post-match comments from the Hull game were anything to go by, I expect to see changes.

I reckon we could see the likes of Schlupp and Kramaric lose out to Konchesky and Nugent respectively.

not quite sure what NP sees in Lawrence at this stage but he's the man at the training ground.

Would enjoy seeing this fresh approach but doubt I will.

Can't for the life of me see why people are saying lets go for it! that would be absolute suicide!

I can just imagine the meltdown on here when we get hammered playing that way,

sure we all romanticise about our team playing attacking football and "going for it",

but surely that isn't the way to go.

I know playing with our cautious approach hasn't done us any good so far, but that's exactly

how we won there in the cup game!

You mean 'his mum'!

Not on Twitter, someone said he bird, his mum either way, that's why Lawrence gets in front of albriighton, it's not because he's better, he may be one day, but not now.

I don't give a monkey's if we get hammered tomorrow, just showing an inkling of attacking intent would be an improvement, regardless of the result.

I'd rather we were absolutely woeful and had no attacking intent but scraped a 1-0 to be honest. Wins a win at this point.

Finally agree with you, don't mind how we play, as long as we win, just a bitter pill to swallow when we play like that with no reward.

Taking my 9 yr old boy to first away game in London. Driving, any advice - looking like driving to Broxbourne station and getting train in, then not having to risk going m25 and getting stuffed for traffic and parking, then just head to pub near the ground, hopefully with away fans and a lack of knife fights

Im feeling better now, its actually a win win, either we win and its back on (sort of, but at least enough for a great day) or we don't and I can finally get over this season. Its the hope that hurts the most

How on earth was our approach in the cup cautious?

I would honestly rather lose 6-2 having attacked than 2-0 having sat back. Maybe a thumping might get their arses in gear.

But to score a goal you need to get one !

Merson speaks very highly of Pearson, I believe they are still friends. After all they did play on the same team.
