Free Falling Foxes Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 They were talking about players making honest errors during a match and how as a professional you're angry at the time but ultimately you forgive them. Then Steve mentioned that you don't forgive something like Kermogants penalty 'chip' - followed by an explanation that no leicester fan needs. shailen Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 It's the fine margins. If that chip had gone in we would all be talking about how clever and cheeky he was. Nevertheless its all in the past and we have moved on from that
Chairman of the Bored Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 I slated him at the time. He's doing the biz for Bournemouth though. Bit of a hero on the south coast. Cracking free kick against Brighton t'other week.

Nevertheless its all in the past and we have moved on from that I don't agree with that, it's still irresponsible and unnecessary. Just risky arrogance that shows no respect for the seriousness of the situation. Like I love Andrea Pirlo, but I didn't think it made him cool to do it at the Euros, I just thought it made him look up himself. It's not like it's a hugely difficult skill. I could have accepted it a bit more if he'd have put his hands up and admitted to being embarrassed and ashamed. We have moved on but you can't forgive someone if they're not sorry, and Kermo never was. Compare him to Knockaert, who took a poor but well intentioned penalty, yet seemed to have genuine remorse. HighPeakFox Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 To err is human - not many people are good at recognising when they need to apologise, let alone doing so.

Dan LCFC Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 Joe Hart stands still and Pirlo's in the same category. Extremely fine margins. Saying that, it was awfully executed. Kermorgant annoyed me more when he shhh'd our fans. He was always going to get a bit of stick for what he did regardless.

I don't like it either. I'm from the school of Shearer penalty taking. Just run up and blast it as hard as possible towards the corner. But I'm glad you mentioned the Pirlo penalty. Everyone raved him up and made him sound like he was class just doing that. he would have looked like a muppet if he had missed, and that exactly is my point with the Kermogant penalty. Watching it still makes me angry, but I guarantee most people would have loved it if that went in.

Nalis Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 Forgive and forget. Having said that, I just watched it again on YouTube when I seen this thread and its even worse than I remember. The ball barely reached the goalline!
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 It's about context. Had he had a great season and then attempted it people would have been far more sympathetic, as they were with Waghorn after his miss and later Knockaert. I always thought Kermorgant had something about him and was a defender of his at the time but on the back of the season he had had it wasn't the right choice. Interesting that the pros remember it and see it in such a light. There was obviously no way back for him in the dressing room after doing that. Certain things seem to rile professionals more than fanbases and that's clearly one. The Mirallas penalty debacle is clearly another and I wouldn't be surprised if there's still ill-feeling in the Everton dressing room towards him despite the fact most fans will have forgiven and/or forgotten. I'm privy to very, very little inside knowledge but I've had it on very good authority that Wellens outright refused to play with him ever again and let seemingly everybody (both playing and non playing staff) at the club know this during the pre-season under Sousa. The bloke absolutely hated Kermogant after that chip.

AKCJ Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 Least Kermogant had the bollocks to put himself forward and take one? But what's the point in that when you're going to be a complete **** and put the season that your team mates have worked so hard for (Wellens was nominated for player of the season) at severe risk? I'd rather he didn't put himself forward. Any credit he gets for stepping up to take one is completely wiped out because of his reckless idiocy. Quite possibly something in that, when radio Leicester interviewed kermogant a while back, I'm sure he mentioned something along the lines of "people like Richie wellens didn't put themselves forward". Strange that he'd mention only wellens by name.

Guest bss9401 Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 I didn't get angry at him but it was too risky a strategy given the stakes. Players should be able to commit a goalie or just find the corners. In that respect he cannot complain that a lot of people blamed him.
TJB-fox Posted 20 April 2015 Share Posted 20 April 2015 Cant ever blame a penalty taker. He put himself down as one of the kick takers, and took it exactly how he felt comfortable. It was executed poorly, but he still missed the same as Waghorn, no difference there. He wouldve wanted it to go in just as much as us. You can tell he dislikes leicester (fans) though now, always unbelivably fired up when he plays us and usually has a stormer!
