Steven Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I had hoped this would not happen but it is now being speculated upon in the Birmingham Mail. Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill weighs up £2million bid for Leicester midfielder
Guest Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Oh Rubbish It says you'll be one for the future Kingy, roughly translated to mean bench warmer and the odd cup game.
welck12 Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Another lazy journalist browsing football rumours for his "stories"
Asha Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 To be honest, i'd take £2m+ for him. With Wellens bought in, and rumours of other midfielders coming in, where does this leave King? Providing we don't blow it all on an overrated League Two striker, of course.

With Wellens bought in, and rumours of other midfielders coming in, where does this leave King?Providing we don't blow it all on an overrated League Two striker, of course. x4, he was a good player within his first season at league 1 level. Just scared about his physical aspect of the game, ecspecially with him being a fairly big lad he dosen't seem to tackle or get involved much as well as not winning many headers. Sometimes goes missing as well. I'd take 2million+ for him, even more so with Wellens coming in and Clingan/Carter linked who I would prefer over King.
Jimmy Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I can't see MoN spending £2m on a player that hasn't played a full season of 1st team football above League 1 level, he might well be tracking him but I just can't see it
Sly Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 King is a good player and we must keep hold of him. If Delph is worth £6m in the current inflated market then King isn't that far of that value surely?
Tommy G Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I think MON has gone mad. He will barely make the bench, he is simply not good enough for that level. Surely hey would let him go for £2m!
Dr The Singh Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Davies was better then King and he went to Bolton, a bottom half prem team, no way could King get into a team that wants to challenge for the top 4!!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Hope the rumours are wrong, but hey, £2 million! I don't think so.
artursteppe Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Hope the rumours are wrong, but hey, £2 million! I don't think so. I'm with most people on this issue. I can't possibly believe it's true, although with Villa upping the ante on Delph to 7M, maybe MON is daft enough to cough 2M+ for King. Although he could be OK in a year or two I would not want him in a Leicester team in the Prem when we get there. We won't get there anyway with King in our start eleven this season, except maybe as back-up from the bench.
Daveaway Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 looking at the useful FOOTBALL Rumours website it's saying Mattock to Newcastle 4.5 Mil if thats the case sell sell sell source is the SUN.
Kilworthfox Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I had hoped this would not happen but it is now being speculated upon in the Birmingham Mail. Sickipedia? If true snap his stupid hands off
wigstonexile Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 x3He's a good player but he's not as good as people make him out to be. He is a good player and has the potential to be a great player, for crying out loud he is only 20. The same goes for Mattock City should not be selling these young players but nurturing them. It is the acadamy players that are the future of the club. City hasn't got the financial clout to pay the massive transfer fees that are being demanded. Both the above are still learning their craft - give them space - don't get on their back.
Little Nicky Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Why do we need to sell? King is a good prospect, and a lot younger than any of the other centre midfielders we currently have, I wouldn't be too pleased if this was true!
StanSP Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Gutted if this was true. I really rate King. Hate to see him go.
BoneDog Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 We would be mad to sell King. He was excellent last season and I think he will get better, surely. I can't understand anyone wanting to sell him. Even if we have 3 midfielders better than King we need the back up of his quality to cover for suspensions and injuries. I would be very happy if King is a regular next season. He's gonna be a star
