Alan young digs at stringer

Not surprised by that. Stringer acts like, without a better thing to call him, a thing that has slipped out of a goats arse. Don't want him to lose his job because I wouldn't wish that on anyone but he certainly needs to think about the amount of professionalism that is coming across!

G'won Alan, you're dead bleeding right. Stringer has been getting on my wick for months now. You'd think we've been down since Christmas.

Alan may be a berk, but he's a berk with far more passion for the club and hasn't ever had an iota of negativity about us on air - and while his knowledge of the game may be firmly rooted in the 1970's-80's, at least he has some.

I used to be a Stringerite, but he can eff right off after this year. I take it back, anti-Ian folk - he really is a rod-arsed poo stirrer after all. Sack him - the 10 minutes of post-match crap talking about the clappers rather than the performance tells you all you need to know about his knowledge of the game itself. It was almost as if he didn't want to acknowledge what had happened on the pitch. :dunno:

He just comes across as a bitter old man. Cringey to watch.

I like Alan's enthusiasm, but suggesting Stringers opinion isnt valid because he didnt play proffesional football is daft. The best way to not worry about the silly stuff stringer says is just dont listen to him

Hide from the fact or not. Stringer WAS the person who got Young sacked. Youngy is a colourful Scottish lad and Stringer didn't like it obviously he wasn't on air but travelling.. different story.

Bring back Youngy sack odd Stringer.

Alan Young was terrible at his job. Funny as that video is, and good on him as he makes a good points about Stringer, he was a dreadful pundit, and the old desperate "he's never played the game" comment (as someone has already pointed out) so many bad ex pros come out with is a bit cringe worthy. Andrea Villas Boas never "played the game"  but I'm quite sure which one knows the modern game better out of him and Alan Young.

One thing I'll give him is he'd never use the circumstances or the standing of the club to further his own career, he genuinely cares. However viewing this season as a opportunity is all Stringer has done this season. If he is actually a Leicester City fan he should feel ashamed of himself. Thanks to going to games steams and not physically being able to follow games I've only had to listen to him about twice this season and I've done that purely because RL can't be seen to sack him half way through a season for his actions purely as a journalist and I understand that. Should they make a conscious decision to retain his services I wont listen to the station again full stop never mind football  until he is gone.

It annoys me really as I've praised him quite a lot since he took the job for being a pretty reasonable local  commentator and he could of carried on for a good few years  and possibly gone on further if he'd of worked on his weakness's instead of trying to fast track his career by trying to whip up storms for himself to report on. He is showing himself up for the early week apprentice reject that he is.

And this is all without mentioning what I've herd about his personal life, which I wont comment on as I don't know the ins and outs of it. Needless to say though it doesn't show him in a very good light.

Hate to say it but Stringer is better at his job, AY was incoherent for the most of the time sounded like had a few cans to get started. If they had genuine bad blood when they were on the air, then I commend them for hiding it well.

I have been very critical of Stringer this season about his agenda, arrogance and unprofessionalism.

However, Alan Young you absolute joke of a man.

I met Alan and had a 20 minute chat with him while he still worked on Radio Leicester a few years ago. Within a minute he began to have digs at just about everyone he works with. But when he got onto Stringer it was quite unbelievable just how much hatred he had for him. Quotes like "i've been seconds from punching him square in the face before we gone on air" and "he is jealous because i know more than him because i played for this club".

That last point pretty much sums up the arrogance of the man. Anyone who has listened to 5 minutes of that hilarious ameteur station programme he does now will hear 3 lads you hear down the pub every week with pretty decent summaries and analysis based on a relatively good grasp of the modern game of football only to be shot down and spoken over by a man who is literally 35 years out of touch with the game and quite simply doesnt have a clue anymore.

But the thing i absolutely detest about Alan Young is how he used the clubs supporters. Before he got that job he did not have anything to do with us. We were another one of his former clubs, that he probably enjoyed playing for because of Jock. After getting the job he realised he could gain a facebook following, delude himself into thinking they were "his fans" and not Leicester fans and then flog a book to them all to get an easy retirement.

This man is bitter and doesnt realise quite how sad he looks doing stuff like this while constantly wearing his name on his chest.

Stringer will always maintain that he's 'just doing his job' by 'asking the questions that the fans want to know the answers to.' A fair stance to take. The problem is that he's like a fvcking dog with a bone, and an insufferable cvnt of a dog at that. Genuinely poisonous bloke.

This.

The others are really good people to listen to and young just talks over them.

I followed the show quite a lot in its early days when it was Mack and Phil but since young has been there signing photos that no one really cares about it should be called 100%AlanYoung because that's all it is!!

I disagree with pretty much everything Alan Young says regarding tactical decisions etc so it's a pointless watch now a days.

I hate Stringer though! At first I thought he was awesome and his goal reactions etc where a good listen... But when he was interviewing pearson and kinda belittling him... I wanted to kill the button of a vagina!

I agree it does sound like youngy has had a few jars before doing this interview. To be fair to him, I found it easier to listen to him than Matt Elliot. Matt is a Leicester legend but he sounds half asleep, sits on the fence and offers little insight.

I take your points but I would strongly question your point about us just being another one of his former clubs.

I spent several days in his presence back in the late 80s on a Notts County coaching course. As a young lad sporting my City top and knowing absolutely nothing about the chap at the time, he couldn't stop banging on about Leicester and his love for the club telling me all manner of stories about his career at the club. Whilst I can't say I took too much away from a football perspective, I quite clearly remember Mr Young's passion for the club.

Clearly the video doesn't do him any favours, but I think there may be other underlying issues which have notoriously affected ex professional players throughout the history of the game when they hang their boots up. If anything I think it shows the need for stronger support networks in the game.

Cant agree with that at all. Elliot gives a good account of the game and this sitting on the fence thing I just dont get. He gives an opinion on everything he's asked. Because he's objective when he does so, just means its a considered opinion.

Just because Alan Young commented as if everything he said was fact, doesnt mean it actually is. Most of what he said often didnt make sense, he contradicted himself at least twice a game and his commentary was unbearable.

His goal record for us was really no better than Beckfords and i've spoken to many fans who watched him play and all of them said he was just an average player and cant see where the 'Legend' tag came from.

He's a legend in his own mind and he's made a previously listenable fans show (100%LCFC) into an Alan Young ego trip.

Elliot is far better imo.
