Phube Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 For me it's a combination of these: *Huth *Playing Albrighton *Playing (at least) two up front *Players returning to form (Wes, Vardy, Schmeichel, Nugent) *Just a slice of luck Some can't have been helped, but others could have been done plenty of games prior. What's your take?
StanSP Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Confidence growing. Taking chances. Being defensively solid with Huth in presence. And Esteban Cambiasso being a don in the middle. Andy King too. Fvck it, everyone.
Matt Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 More attacking line up. Setting up to attack as opposed to setting up not to lose games and still losing anywhere. And whilst i'm not questioning the players commitments or efforts this season we seem to be 'giving it a go' with more intent. Also players who have (consistantly) been pretty poor seem to have picked some form up out of nowhere. Dare I say Pearson's 'favourites' No-one has mentioned that fact for the last few weeks because those players have as i've mentioned picked some form up and are now deserving their places in the team as for before well I can't explain it other than labelling them as favourites, anyhow let's draw a line under that, I don't want that discussion they've improved and we're doing well, let's focus on that!
ScouseFox Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 shit or bust mentality. and a lot of players have stepped up. vardy's gone from 5/10 a game to 8/10 a game with goals. cambiasso went from a "standard 8" to a standard 9.5 (bar today apparently). albrighton came in and nailed our style of play immediately. and kasper has returned.
Charl91 Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 THE EMERGENCE OF THE ONE TRUE MESSIAH, RACHEL (peace be upon her). (Oh, and Huth, Albrighton, and a little bit of luck)
Hinckleyfox Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 The exact opposite of burnley at home. We grabbed a late win at home to West Ham and it will have done wonders for confidence, to then do the same at WBA, players must've been on the ceiling! Confidence is a wonderful thing. Oh, and Allbrighton
Grewks Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 3 at the back....unlike the 5 we used with simpson and konch. We need a way of playing, a philosophy if you like, sunderland, qpr and burnley don't and you can see it in the way they play and their results.
Buzzell Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Pearson finally picking the right team for matches. Was has been solid since coming back in along with Kasper, King and Albrighton. Nugent and Vardy are starting to find the back of the net and Cambiasso is showing his experience in the centre of midfield. What a time for our team to come into form. Bring of Chelsea.
Izzy Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Dodgy backhander extra £1million a man bonus from Top to every player if we stay up
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Huth, Albrighton and King. They've all made a huge difference. But perhaps the biggest difference has been Jamie Vardy returning to form. He's back to the form in was in last season which is nearly unplayable.
kingfox Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 A lot of things, but the main thing for me is, the confidence that Vardy & Nugent have found. Cambiasso playing basically as a second captain has also helped matters, Huth coming in has been a terrific bit of business & Albrighton finally getting a chance was the right call. Going back to Vardy though, when he plays out of his skin the team seem to play better, he has been brilliant over our last four games.
I blame Wellens Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Agree we found a way of playing. Too much chopping and changing. Today was always going to be a tough one. Konchesky has and still remains the most perplexing selection ever and I mean ever. And it nearly cost us again.
EnglishOxide Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Huth and Cambiasso. Huths experience at this level has brought Morgan up to standard. Cambiasso took a while to adapt to the counter attacking style of the league in general and to get up to match fitness but since he has he has controlled our midfield. I don't think our luck has changed too much. We rode it today in terms of saves Kasper had to make but that's about it. Until we get our ****ing penalty for a ball hitting a player in the head our luck in general hasn't changed imo! We are just on the right side of 'fine margins' as a result of the teams hard work.
bovril Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 What everybody has already said: King, Vardy version 2.0, Cambi, Nugent, Huth and Pearson growing a pair and setting the team up to play as we should have all season. Also the fact that this all came together against an off-form West Ham and pretty awful WBA. From there the confidence has come flooding back.
Kitchandro Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 What changed was it was shit or bust. We started to play like we had nothing to lose and that attacking and trying to win was the best policy. And it always has been. Today was us reverting back to the sort of negative, slow performance that has got us into this trouble, and we got lucky.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Albrighton, a constant threat with his crosses and Huth, who is a proper old skool defender. And both have plenty of Prem experience. Probably combined with the form of Cambiasso, Nugent and Vardy
Fox92 Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 We actually attack teams. Playing up front was a mistake, I was one of many that said it at the time, especially considering the position we were in. Playing two (sometimes three) is much better and much better to watch too. The signing of Huth. We needed a player like this at the back. His experience is vital and I think he has helped the others, especially Morgan.
Maggie's town fox Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Certainly turned the corner since Huth arrived which has settled Big Wes, also agree with the majority that key players have found form especially Vardy, Cambiasso and Albrighton. Also Kingy last Saturday against Swansea won headers and got vital tackles in and that was probably the best i have seen him play over these past few seasons. Need to now stick to the back 3 with the 2 wing backs even against Chelsea, sit back then we will be up against it, hold tight this is going to be one hell of a white knuckle ride!!
Izzet is God Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 1: playing Albrighton 2: The extra bonus offered to players if they stay up - they seem to actually give a **** about staying up since.
Daggers Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 For me it's a combination of these: *Playing Albrighton *Playing (at least) two up front *Players returning to form (Wes, Vardy, Schmeichel, Nugent) *Just a slice of luck Some can't have been helped, but others could have been done plenty of games prior. What's your take? Very little, apart from the disbelief of a vast swathe of City fans, has changed to be honest Phubey. Pearson and the squad have be resolute in their approach and self belief. Eventually, if you continue to apply yourself the results turn. I've believed in what they were doing for the full season, without hesitation. I've wondered at the wavering support - but it was nice to have everyone back on board at the ground last weekend. COYB.
