Thanks and Apologies to Nigel Pearson

How could anyone ever doubt Nigel Pearson? Even when we were seven points clear I was never certain we were going down and that is because of Pearson. He delivers time after time. He must stay for as long as possible. I think it would be a nice gesture to somehow show Nigel how much we appreciate him against QPR, maybe a banner or something and 90 minutes of "there's only one Nigel Pearson".

Never wanted him gone. Still believe that the togetherness and stability that he brings to this team is key to a great future.

Good on people for being humble though. Not everyone has the same patience and faith.

Lot of humble pie to be shared tbh - I was turning post Hull, but who cares.

tbh his "sacking" might have been a blessing in disguise rather than a farce - if the season started the following morning, we'd currently be sat 8th.

Fair play to you Doc...

An honest post.

If anyone says they kept the faith after the hull game they are almost definitely lying.

Whats happened since has been amazing and you couldn't have expected it.

Nigel's record as a manager is fantastic.

Exactly.

Yes I doubted him after that game and thought only a 'honeymoon period' could save us.

Never doubted Pearsons ability as a manager though. We have played nice attractive, effective football all season. We have never looked shite (bar that hull game) and I think under Pearson now, the only way is up!

If it was Burnley that stayed up Dyche would be getting manager of the season.

The greatest of great escapes, next season should be a lot more comfortable for us given the fact all our players now have premiership experience and we can add a few additions to strengthen us!!

Come on Leicester & Nigel Pearson has proven us all, without exception, wrong!

Anyone that thought we were staying up before this run is an Ostrich!

Why we have stayed up is because Nigel Pearson finally 'learnt'.

We were never really tonked in games and could have easily won some of those we lost.

But two factors have prevailed for me.

Firstly, we tightened up the back four with the acquisition of Rob Huth. Don't underestimate the influence this has had on the rest of the players. They all look more assured and composed, knowing that we can finally defend properly.

Secondly, the formation change. We got an extra body in midfield, we played lads like Schlupp in the correct way.

The one thing that has really impressed me though is the desire of the players to keep playing for Nigel Pearson. Having personalities in the side like Cambiasso must have massively helped in this respect. If the players saw players like him still trying for the club, that would give the motivation to do so also.

Well done Pearson and the players. Again you have turned it around...it took a long time but it shows you have learnt how to play in this division.

Hats off to you all.

Now let's really kick on and put this great club firmly back in the limelight.

A GREAT day for LCFC......

... and sorry?

:P

Only kidding Col, what a day. :scarf::pearson:

I was always neutral on the matter BUT...

Most people who were calling for his head were bemoaning team selection and tactics; namely Albrighton left out for no reason.

Crazy Nigel - March teams:

Man City - CITY: Schwarzer, Konchesky (Nugent 57), Morgan ©, Upson, James, Huth, Schlupp, Simpson, Cambiasso, Mahrez (Ulloa 76), Kramarić (Vardy 57)

Hull -  CITY Schwarzer, De Laet (Lawrence 76), Upson, Huth, Morgan © (Nugent 84), Schlupp, Vardy, Cambiasso, James, Mahrez, Kramarić (Ulloa 61)

SPURS - CITY: Schmeichel; Morgan ©, Huth (Mahrez 76), Upson (Wasilewski 46); De Laet, Cambiasso (King 85), James, Schlupp; Vardy, Ulloa, Nugent

Winning Nigel - April teams:

West Ham - CITY: Schmeichel, De Laet (King 79), Morgan ©, James, Vardy, Huth, Schlupp, Cambiasso, Ulloa (Kramarić 72), Mahrez (Albrighton 46), Nugent

West Brom - CITY: Schmeichel, De Laet (Wasilewski 46), Morgan ©, Huth, Schlupp, Cambiasso, James (King 60), Albrighton, Nugent, Vardy, Ulloa (Mahrez 64)

Swansea - CITY: Schmeichel, Huth, Wasilewski (De Laet 46), Morgan ©, Schlupp, King, Cambiasso, Albrighton, Ulloa (Mahrez 68), Vardy, Kramarić (Drinkwater 74)

Burnley - CITY: Schmeichel; Wasilewski, Huth, Morgan ©; Albrighton (De Laet 70), King, Cambiasso, Drinkwater (James 77), Konchesky; Vardy, Ulloa (Kramaric 65)

Hmmm... must be a connection somehwere...

What an unbelievable achievement, what a season and what a manager.

I was one of those morons calling for Nigel's head earlier on in the year and for that I apologize, and I was wrong. I think a lot of us lost our heads, he turned it round and deserves all the plaudits.

Really struggling to find the words to describe it really.

I don't have anything to be sorry about, I called him, and lost faith in him, but that mid season was shocking, and many managers would have gone with the results.

What I will do, is give credit where credit is due, and congratulate him and the players, for a remarkable end of season.

I'm still checking the table now in fear there might be a mistake. I wasn't overly confident we were going to stay up but I supported Nigel throughout this campaign. I can understand why people doubted him, even thinking it might be for the best if we replaced him but some people abused the man, character assassinated him and that was wrong. They should hang their heads in shame.

Admit that i was fed up with his 5 at the back with totally inept full backs (Simpson & Konchesky) and the Spurs game at 2.0 down was enough for me and i wanted him out, thank God he stayed and has helped City complete the greatest of escapes and all the fans Premier League dreams alive for another season.....

Up the City....

Had my doubts this season but again, he's done what has been asked. Promotion from League One, promotion from the Championship and survival in the Premier League. Five remarkable and entertaining full seasons in charge.

What he stays or goes he's improved the club in all areas and he's made the club enjoyable to support again.

You can't argue with his record and I absolutely love the man - there is nobody else I would prefer to see take us forward.

But in the end we've just about hit par for the course. Contrary to popular opinion we weren't actually odds on at the start to the season to go down - we were about 11/8.

Pearson has done an absolutely magnificent job in hauling us back from where we were and it will become the stuff of legend. What will be forgotten in the annals of time - but is ultimately just as relevant as winning 6 from 7 - is the utter despair of October to March when watching us play was torturous.

Dispassionately there have to be questions about whether we are going to continue to progress under Pearson. I really hope we can and to be honest I think it's pretty clear I was wrong in wanting a change in March. As others have said, Pearson does learn, but at an interminably slow pace.

Anyway well done to Nigel and his staff because we've achieved what we set out to and what appeared impossible only 7 weeks ago. Hopefully he will get a chance to take the team on by upgrading certain key areas this summer.

And just as importantly well done to the owners for owners for sticking with him!

Never doubted Pearson and am really proud of him and the team for pulling this Great Escape off with a game to spare.

Its been an amazing run to get us out of the crap and it's great to think that the 5-3 Man United win can be enjoyed as a highlight of a season which won't end in relegation.

I think Pearson is the best manager we've has since O'Neill and with the backing of our owners could go on to be even better!

Apologise for what? For getting 19 points from 72? Being rock bottom for 100+ days? For not changing things up for weeks on end? Credit where credit is due for Nigel turning it around. The recent turn has been incredible, but I certainly won't apologise for wanting him gone a few months ago. It was fully justified at the time. Bring on next season now and let's learn from this year!

It wasn't justified at the time. You and many others were looking at the short term, as people did in the Watford season and as about 50% were saying at the time that is a stupid method for assessing football managers. You don't have to apologise if you don't want to, but I don't think it's at all unreasonable for the people who were saying it all along, to suggest that you were wrong.

Well we can agree to disagree. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion which is fair enough. We have pulled off a record breaking turnaround. The chances of that happening were small when you play like that for weeks.

Now above qpr, villa & Newcastle and every chance of finishing above west brom. NEW MANAGER BOUNCE

I don't think anyone wanting him out in March is disloyal or even incorrect, we weren't winning matches, scoring many goals and generally looking ineffective.

Whether another manager would've kept us up we have no idea, Pearson has and, should he go now, leaves us in a healthy position. Obviously the 38 points could and no doubt should've been spread out more over the season and we have some serious learning to do to improve for next year.

It's pivotal we get the signings we want and keep the high pressing tempo that's been so key in recent weeks. The home form needs improvement, as does the goals tally.

Posted

Doubted him so much during that bad run and during that run, nobody would have been shocked if he had been sacked.

What we've seen this last few weeks is nothing short of amazing and the feeling this evening surpasses the Tony James escape, survival under MON and Stevie Claridge stopping time.

I'm truly happy to have been wrong, and over the moon at the circumstances that have proved me so.

Nigel Pearson did learn. He cut it fine but he did learn and i'm looking forward to next season already.

Its flipped from going back to the championship to looking like we could actually become a permanant fixture in the top flight.

Thanks for shoving my words back down my throat Nigel. Thanks a million.

Can't believe I forgot Sunderland too. All these clubs who guaranteed safety by changing their manager lmao

You are entitled to your opinion, even if it is wrong.
