Top aiming for top ten finish

We could get relegated at any time. Wigan were "established", so were Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham, Middlesborough, us a decade ago and a load of other teams. It can happen at any time with or without an expansion. As far as we know we currently have no debt other than the ground, which is owned by one of their companies anyway. IF we stay up next season the new premier league deal kicks in the year after and we're looking at a minimum of about £110m for finishing where we did this year. Some of that extra cash could easily be used on the stadium.

The bigger the ground, the more fans we get in, the more money we can spend, the better the chance of attacking good players. Not only with the extra money, but with the ambition it would show. Putting an extra 10k on our ground would send out a massive statement of intent.

Of course it needs to be done in a sensible way, but we've been doing it that way for a few years now.

Top top post Babs

I agree with literally every word

The stadium was designed to enable an upper tier being added anyway wasn't it? Also no reason to not be able to play on at the kp and expand upwards in the summer, man city are doing that, all the prep work done during the season so as soon as close for business move in and chuck the tier on top!

This might scare them off.

I'm not sure on top 10, but yeah! aim away.

But I'd consider survival next season a success IF it was more comfortable. eg. a similar amount of points or obviously higher spread evenly over the season!

I remember going down the City in the 70s as a kid and seeing all the coaches parked down by the canal and they were from all over the county and Warwickshire, could be done again, who would have thought Forest could go on and win what they did with Cloughie.....

Up the City.....

Always thought that was where the away fans were parked I know it was at the end of the 70's and into the 80's.

Untill the police realised they were being split and making the job hard.

Then thry moved them to Waterloo way so all away fans went the same way.

We are so lucky that they chose us to invest in, superb owners! They seem so driven to make us successful which in turn makes them very successful. Everyone's a winner :)

One of those coaches was from Rugby, allways full.

I get the feeling we're really going places. Don't think a top ten finish would be out of the question this season providing we don't go on another huge mid-season slump. The determination of the entire squad seems to completely outweigh the relative lack of experience at top level, can't wait till the season starts again

All the ambition is good and I have faith in the owners to back it up with the necessary funding and support to the manager, coaching staff and players. Vichai and Top talk so much sense and always come across very wise and accomplished business people.

Also, interestingly, more confirmation the club look to be in hot pursuit of Okazaki.

We really are lucky with our owners and how level headed they are to the football part of their business which is reflective to the success of their overall King Power business. Ambition, realistic business / 3 to 5 year plans are fluid and ongoing and ours seem very achievable to be honest. Considering where we were pre and post Mandric, we are light years ahead of where we would have been under different owners.

In our long history, we have had long periods of success but have generally sat between the top and 2nd divisions. Widely known as a yoyo club. Middle of the road if you like. For the first time in our history, we have the backing of very wealthy owners who have a vision to move our club away from being middle of the road to establishing itself as one of the biggest clubs in the uk. It appears, they have a sensible plan to achieve this over a period of time to limit risk but there will always be a level of risk.

It's time, we as fans, open up our minds, buy into this and move away from the mentality we have been brought up with and accept that we can become one of the biggest , established clubs in the uk, living without fear of relegation but instead, with aspirations of europe our goal on a season by season basis and disappointment at finishing 11th.

If you don't think big, you don't ever stop becoming what you've always been. Stadium expansion and quick but considered growth is key to taking this club away from being a 'Norwich, a Forest, a Derby, a West Brom or a Southampton to becoming an Everton or even a spurs etc.

We need to stop thinking in terms of what we have always been and get worried about having a ground that we can't fill, or debts we may get stuck with and embrace the vision our owners have which is to take our club to the next level, to the level where our shirts are on sale in sports direct, our badge is on kids lunchboxes in shops outside Leicester and fake kits are on sale at the bazaars in Turkey!

The Thais have a business growth plan for our club, they have a proven track record in building brands, have invested soundly and bravely and have showed no sign of walking away in the few years they have been here despite things not always going to plan.

embrace it!! Don't fight it!

The quotes about pursuing Asian players makes me really wish that this whole situation had matched up with the timing of Shinji Kagawa's frustration at Man U. Can you imagine if he was on board? I like Okazaki, but Kagawa would make an absolutely massive difference for this team and is 3 years younger.

Home coaches were always parked down the right hand side (as you walked back from Filbert St) of the canal back in the early 70s as i remember Sylo, great days indeed DayDay.

Loads of talk back then of upgrading the Popular Stand but nothing happened, i think they bleached the tea urns out once though....

Up the City....

I've heard the plans are drawn up, and involve a new tier around the east stand and kop sides of the stadium. Be nice to see it happen!

The plans will have been drawn up for a while, personally I think they are going to see how next season goes before any work will be undertaken.

They always said they would wait  a few years before expanding the stadium.

But im pretty sure that was based around how much revenue would of been available to use at the time they bought us if we would of gotten into the Prem in their first season...

There has been a huge increase in TV money recently and so if we do really well this year ( top 12) i wouldnt be surprised if it was started on at the end of this coming season....

I think you're right.. Whether they've actually submitted plans yet though I don't know.. how quickly do these things happen?

I've looked on the council website and there are no planning applications in as far as I can see at this moment.

They take time, before an official planning application is made, there are comments made on the plans by local authorities, architects, engineers etc to meet certain criteria but submitting for planning. But once submitted 8-12 weeks usually.
