davieG Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Getting planning permission won't be easy as we've still not implemented some of the requirements relating to transport that were in the original stadium approval conditions
The_77 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I genuinely think that the border of Leicestershire on the A47 up to Peterborough, I suppose Rutland really, is untapped with regards to areas for increasing the potential fanbase. Sure maybe there will be the odd few supporting us from Peterborough The more Coventry decline, the more we'll pick up from places like Hinckley, Lutterworth and Nuneaton. Northamptonshire could also be a huge untapped resource as well given there's no massive club there, as could South Lincolnshire for the same reason. A Leicester City with a few successful years behind it could be a huge draw. It's frightening to think what we could become if we have a few successful years in this division. The TV money is going to sky rocket, we're already well backed by the owners, selling out a 32,000 capacity stadium every week and considering expansion and are the only Premier League team in the East Midlands - a region comprising of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbsyhire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. That's around 4.5m people, and we're not even onto Warwickshire and Cambridgeshire yet. Clearly, Leicester City are going to be a much harder sell in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, but the county of Leicestershire and the surrounding areas of Lincolnshire, Northants and Cambridgeshire are huge potential markets for us. There's also the fact that we're already a pretty large city to have only the one club in it, especially a Premier League club. We'll convert a few glory hunters with a few successful seasons, that's for sure. Many say that West Ham are a massive club in waiting because they have most of Essex backing them, but we could match them with a few successful years. It just makes it so crucial that we stay in this division - we've an awful lot of potential, now perhaps more than at any other point in our recent history given the parlous state of our neighbours, and it'd be heartbreaking to see us squander it. To be fair, Top is thinking about bigger markets than the East Midlands. Vichai and Top are certainly going to do what they can to solidify the teams standing in the region and the PL, and will also tap into markets that will make the club and KP global brands. There are 126,000,000 people in Japan, 65,000,000 in Thailand, and 51,000,000 in South Korea.
Larry_LCFC Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Those rumoured stadium expansion photos do look bang tidy on Twitter though!

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Oh man that'd be sweet, get it done Top!
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 https://twitter.com/lcfcawaydays_/status/607967171080286208 Looks like white hart lane would prefer if we didn't have 2 tiers & have one big stand!
Wymsey Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Can't see it happening, unless it's for around a decade's time. The area around the stadium gets very packed before kick-off, as it's quite small area going around the ground - will be more congested. Sorry for being miserable about it.
AKCJ Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Not even joking, those 'stadium plans' look like they've been done by a 3 year old in ms paint.
Spudulike Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 The concourses could get also get rammed. More bogs & bars will be needed.
dayday Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Prestoon coaches in the 80s from Rugby. Remember bump starting one once. Yes that's the one,you will be surprised how many people from Rugby support City
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I think in our position, gradual progression is a realistic target. A struggle most of the season, so a more consistent, and comfortable survival is the first realistic target, then if things go well, any improvement on 14 th will be a good season. I've said this. We have to bed in first, before we can expect too much.
promised land Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Interesting read, I for one think we are in safe hands with our owners. I've said it before, by far and away the best owners in the league, what they do for the fans compared to other clubs is amazing. Hope they stay for many many years to come as we seem to be moving in one direction all the time. Nigel said in town hall square last May something like, your club's in safe hands. How right he was.
FoxCal Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 This could be good for everyone, the fans more so than anybody else in my opinion! I don't see us selling out a 42,000 seater every week, we don't sell out a 32,000 seater now (though we come extremely close). In knowing that it makes sense that in order to sell as many tickets as possible that there would be a slight reduction in ticket prices? Would, it be worth losing £2 or £3 on each seat per game in order to make an extra £25 or £30 on an extra 10,000 seats? saving £40+ on my season ticket would be welcome, just saying...
biggs Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 From a barrage of managers coming and going to this......looking good going forward

The only reason we aren't currently selling out is because of a) the away fans and b) there only being the odd individual ticket available. Most people don't want to go and sit on there own.

The area around the stadium gets very packed before kick-off, as it's quite a small around going around the ground - will be more congested. Sorry for being miserable about it. Perhaps it is the club who bought nearby land. As for bars and stuff, I seem to remember something mentioned about a "fan zone" outside selling food and beer. Perhaps to take the strain off the facilities inside? Could all tie together.
Suffolk exile Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 We can do it. But it needs to be gradual. We have the backing, the support and the stadium. We have to take it a step at a time, starting with building on the end of season form and the 'feel-good' factor that came with it. Signings are needed ideally starting with Huth and Cambiasso - we must trust Nige. Think long term, gradual progress not short term - only this approach will deliver.
shailen Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Everyone has made some good points regarding why the stadium should be expanded and so on. The expansion will work well provided we are in the Premier League. I think we need a more sustainable model to make us an established PL club before we consider expanding. Yes, I know we will always be at risk from being relegated but with being established the risk will reduce and with the finances accrued we would be in a better position financially. Demand at the moment will be met comfortably by the expansion, but whilst we are in no position to call ourselves established, we need to grow our commercially and in numbers. Look I don't believe we are going to get relegated for the foreseeable future, because as I have said before our winning run, this could be our best ever side. The core of this squad is very good, better than that in the MON days imo. (Please do not shoot be down for this). But we have just about stayed up this season, when a lot of people thought we played poorly for the first 29 games of the season. Now everybody can see the green light. We really need to stop running before we can walk. I don't blame the owners for wanting to impose themselves on the club, and if anything their ambition is to be admired, when you have the likes of Oyston/Ashley et al, around. I just don't want to see too much investment, which will be mostly debt to the club, to have future implications, especially given the increasing popularity of FFP.

Most people don't want to go and sit on there own. I didn't take that into account, so you make more than a fair point. Even still, without being an established top ten side I don't see us doing more than about 37,000 or so on a consistent basis. I could be massively wrong, and probably am, but I'm in favour either way. More ticket sales, means more revenue which is only a good thing, but we'll continue with my in depth business analysis another time!
Jace Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I would be very surprised if those pictures are genuine you can do much better technical drawings than that on paint
Jace Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 And we definitely need to expand, I don't think several fans who have season tickets really know how hard it has been to get tickets in recent years for the big matches, its been much easier to get tickets to watch Man Utd in the Champions League than it has to see us play the likes of Watford and Doncaster in the Championship on many occasions. As Babylon said just because its not been a sell out doesn't mean there isn't demand people won't travel by themselves for 600 miles for the odd 1 ticket but they will if 3 or 4 are available to travel together
Vlad the Fox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 There's no way their real, plus I thought it was an east stand extension as it was the only stand to have been built with the ground work done to take it. I'm sure before the stadium was built they released an image of what the east stand would look like with an extra tier though I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web.

So I can see a way to us breaking 40,000 a game provided we're established in the Premier League. I wouldn't expect an expansion until at least the summer after next, possibly next summer if we finish in the top ten, which is a big if.
Gerard Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Surely not the famous Gerard Molly of Lutterworth by any chance? Guilty as charged, well it's Molloy to be pedantic. I should have put a bit of originality in my forum name. PM me who you are.
