Guus Hiddink

So this Hiddink link ain't no coinkydink?

Can't see why not - this would almost certainly be his last job before retirement so hopefully he'd like to end on a high. Would hopefully attract a couple of big names before deadline day and in January; give him a year or twos contract with the aim of establishing us then try and tempt a big young name (Klopp?!) early in the off season.

How about Hiddink manager then Lennon his number two?!?!

This looking for a new manager lark is sort of exciting - reminds me of when my grandad applied for the job after McGhee left. Didn't get it.

Exactly my thoughts, who knows what Pearson could have achieved if given 5 years, he should have been allowed at least one more season to see what improvement there could have been over a 5 year project.

He has turned this club around and the players, staff and everyone else are playing for him.

that's why I think it could hurt us unless we bring in the right man. Hiddink may be the only solution just because he will instantly get the respect of the players.

as they perform CPR  :D

yeah - at least he wouldn't leave us to join Villa or Forest  ;)

I'd have him in a heartbeat, 2 years to help build the foundations of bigger things and then look to bring in someone to carry it on longer term. At which point Lennon maybe more established as a manager, Hiddink won't stay long.

What has Neil Lennon even done to be considered a number TWO!?

He has done the square root of nothing yet at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship, started well but faded horrifically.  He has it ALL to prove next season.

I don't get this Lennon assistant suggestion. Why on earth would Bolton's manager leave to become assistant at Leicester City. He could potentially be a division above us next year if he gets it right at Bolton and we **** it up (we've made a good start of doing just that).

I'm gutted with the decision and believe NP had us pointed us in the right direction. We cam speculate all we want where he would have taken us. If Hiddink is our next manager, I'll support him as he'll need it after what's just gone down. Hope the fit is right.

I feel gutted, i've never felt the club was in better hands than with him. I felt he genuinely cared and that it was possible to build something special here gradually, whilst never endangering our clubs future again.

I'm not going to miss Pearson the man, people go on about it not being Pearson FC. I'm aware of that, my loyalty is to the club not him. And that's the thing, I'm now worried about my club because he was a bloody great manager for us, a steady hand building in what I think is 100% the best way, he shaped the club from top to bottom.

I'm going to miss the job he was doing and how he ran the club, not Nigel Pearson.

Hopefully the owners get the next step right, for their sake on ours. I don't want to be set here regretting the decision in a couple of years.

Blimey Babs..an uncharacteristic emotive post from your good self, if I may be so bold.

I do agree with you.

BUT..I'm of the school that there's no point crying over spilt milk.

The speculation over Pearson's sacking is unreal. So many theories and thoughts. But the fact is, he has. Rather than worrying about what might be, or what might have been, give it some time and just see? we might all be surprised.

I get the feeling from reading this thread that some actually want the next manager to fail just to show how wrong the owners were in getting rid of NP.  I hope whoever comes in is capable of taking us to the next level and that he gets a proper chance rather than people waiting to jump on any kind of set back.

People are now talking about NP as some god like status because we had an amazing run in, forgetting that we played turgid defensive, trying not to lose to heavily football for the previous 6 months.  All the last 9 games proved to me was that when we played the same high energy, pressing game that we did the previous season that we were better than a number of other teams in the prem.  14th was about where we should have been anyway.

We need to move on and if it is Hiddink then fine by me.

lol the square root of nothing!

agree though, who can he attract as well no one! has no experience and will get no respect.

get Roy Keane in!

I hope people don't give him credit for his good spells of form, it'll be down to Robert Huth leading the situation.

Great post.

People conveniently forget that, run in aside, (and a few odd games), we played some awful football last season.

Only defending, though.

The midfield was ok, and the attacking side of us was the best.

Guus must be looking at LVG and Dick Advocaat and thinking why not I'll have some of the premier league.

yep that's spot on , never looked shit even when we were on the run from hell

Pearson is gone. We move on. Hiddink might not be the saviour we all want but he's no mug. Hopefully Cambiasso or someone alongside him for a year or two.

No point whinging. All we can do is support whoever comes in and our team.

No, when we were awful, we were awful all over the pitch.

The midfield was often a shambles and the strikers couldn't hit a barn door. How long did Ulloa go for without looking like scoring and what form was Vardy in?

Stop being rosy and be honest.

Trying to be positive we need to try and move Onwards and upwards

Is Hiddink a good choice? Maybe

Would prefer Klopp but probably not realistic, however we have to aim high surely?

Depends on your definition of shit. Naive would be putting our defending lightly, which is why Huth made such a difference

More the better for me, got to love the dutch loads of coke and porn .  Vardy will be lovin it ;)

Nigel pearson earnt £2.5m a year. Took months to agree to his new contract. He definitely wasn't in it for the money

Of corse he's in it for the money! I'm sure we were paying him more than hull were when he came back? He was probably on decent money in league 1 too? And if rumour is to be believed then he's also quick enough to try and do the owners out of some £££'s for sacking him? Then there's also idiots on here wishing he would take every penny off the owners!
