One Legged Beaver Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 The thing that confuses me most is Manchester City wanting him in the first place Really think their transfer business under Pellegrini for the most part over his tenure has been horrific!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 As has been said, no-one cares about the fact that he's moving. Benteke's also moving, and I've not seen much ill will there. However, you've always going to look a little silly if you articulate how loyal you are a week before moving to a different club. Should've just kept his mouth shut, and he would have been fine. Well actually there are quite a few comments asking why he would move just to be a bench warmer or he's only gone for the money.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 The thing that confuses me most is Manchester City wanting him in the first place Really think their transfer business under Pellegrini for the most part over his tenure has been horrific! They're not his signings
SystonFox Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Who is saying he will be a bench warmer? Obviously city's record is t great. Adam Johnson. Jack Rodwell. Scott Sinclair. But this may be different. It may not. It just annoys me slightly that people jump the gun
Lionheart Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Villa will be relegation fodder hopefully. What a c**t Delph is for making the statement then going, should of said nothing.
Tuna Posted 17 July 2015 Posted 17 July 2015 Villa will be relegation fodder hopefully. What a c**t Delph is for making the statement then going, should of said nothing. As someone else has already posted, maybe Villa pushed him into going. Lerner isn't exactly a football man. Would love it if Sherwood walked now.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 But he's not good enough. In fact he's not even as good as those players. He's better than Fernando, easily.
J.Lisemore Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Fabian Delph first team regular Man City? . Just another English bloke to make up their quota.
SystonFox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 But he's not good enough. In fact he's not even as good as those players. I do agree he's not good enough but it really grinds my gears that people haven't even given him a chance. I'd crawl to Manchester from Birmingham to sit on that bench. And to be fair, people attacked him for not going saying it was a "lack of ambition". Can't win
Vacamion Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Hey Fabian, do you want get paid squillions and play for a potential title winning team? Err... Go on then... [sighs]
Fox92 Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 This home grown rule - like most of their rules - is absolute rubbish.
Nalis Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 If he was a life long Villa fan born and bred in Birmingham then it might be different. But he has no emotional affiliation with Villa, who are probably just another club his is passing through during his career. Dont really understand the problem here.
Raj Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Hey Fabian, do you want get paid squillions and play for a potential title winning team? Err... Go on then... [sighs] Or just sit on the bench and still get paid squillions like Scott Sinclair and many other so called potentially good English players!!!
Super_horns Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Bit of a PR own goal but then he won't care - more money and the chance to win something (even if its from sitting on the bench)
Samilktray Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Who's his competition? Fernando and the other Fernando both looked pretty average.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Well it is a no brainer, Benteke gone from Villa they look like they will be in a relegation battle all season, selling their assets.... or go to Man City who will be fighting for titles, and have a great chance of stepping up a couple of levels

Leicesterpool Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Another modern day footballer, the word loyalty doesn't exist in their dictionary.
Corky Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Another modern day footballer, the word loyalty doesn't exist in their dictionary. Footballers have always moved, mostly for more money/ to a bigger club. It's just that the PR side of football has grown massively, players probably reneged on decisions/ statements but in private so it wasn't played out in the press. Delph should've kept quiet and not been so public with his announcement however.

As mentioned should have kept his mouth shut. Lost his creditable with people. Unless he was forced out of Villa, who knows.
Ross-Kemp Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Another modern day footballer, the word loyalty doesn't exist in their dictionary.Ok, say you work for EDF on £30k per year then all of a sudden, British Gas say we'll pay you £100k per year for doing the same hours, same job only you'll be working with better quality people, a bigger business and more chance of worldwide sucsess. In this scenario, would you be loyal to EDF? Because I ****ing wouldn't be.

Delph can support his family for 30k a week. The need to swap to earning 60k at a different club hardly makes that much of difference in supporting his family. He can still easily support his family comfortably on the salary he was on.

You're absolutely right, he can support his family on 30k per week, however a footballers career lasts what, 15-20 years, I don't blame him for wanting to double / treble his earnings. With the sale of Benteke, loosing Vlaar and having Dim Sherwood as manager, who blames him? I don't.
