Nugent to boro?

People are deluded if they don't think Nuge has been a good player for us over the years.

If he was leaving on a free, I'd be disappointed but if £4m is true, then it's a good bit of business for someone aged 30.

Good luck Nuge

4mill has been agreed, 3 year contract having a medical today. I don't care what people say he has been a great servant to LCFC and a model professional. Plays with a smile on his face and looks like he is actually enjoying him self. He has scored some very important goals and some crackers as well, his goal against Liverpool last season was stunning.

If you are correct, then it is good business for all involved. Yes he has been an important piece for the team while here, but 4mil is a great price for a player not likely to be in the top squad often, good for him to be a key piece at Boro and get regular game time and good for Boro in their push to promotion.

I don't think any serious fan won't miss him and wish him well for all he did for us.

I would be very pleased if I was  Boro fan and we were signing him.

Anyone know what we paid for him?

Free transfer.

Luv Nuge but £4million isn't a bad offer, a good bit of business considering we got him on a free from Portsmouth.

That reminds me, I wonder if Pompey are still wedging him up?

If we get £4m then that would cement Nugent's place as a great signing. Free transfer, big wages but his goals and assists helped secure Prem football and so covered his costs before leaving us £4m up.

£4 mil for Nuge - we have had Boro's pants down.

Considering what other strikers go for now days I wouldn't say that at all. Top scorer for us year after year in the Championship, lots of assists. It's decent money for his age, but if he replicated his goals and assists for boro it would be money well spent for them.

Plays with a smile on his face, gives 100%, seems like a genuinely nice bloke. Maybe I am out of touch with what you pay for a striker at that level but I would have thought 2 million. High proportion of his goals were pens. Cant see him being one of the championships top scorers.

PS. Anyone know why the Balotelli thread has been locked?

I think it's fair value ..... All 3 parties can be pretty pleased with that deal. Boro have a 15-20 goal a season championship striker for £4m, good business.

He'd never taken a pen before our promotion season (a season where he was asked to play deeper) and regularly managed to bang in 16 goals before that. If he'd always taken pennos he'd probably have notched up 20+ goals every year for about the last 5 in the champ for us and Pompey.

Deeney got 21 last year including three pennos, and people were bidding £10m+ for him. not long ago, same goes for several others down there.

Brentford talking £7m for Grey - £4m is a snip at that rate

Wonder if there's a sell on fee to Portsmouth, or if in fact he was quite literally a free agent with no ties to Pompey.

Out of contract wasn't he I think.

For his age, his position here now, I'd say it's about right. At first I thought it was a great deal, then I thought what others are going for!!

A very close friend of mine who lives a couple of doors down from nugent sent me this yesterday coming out of nugents house....

so he's hired a removal team from eastleigh, to pick up his stuff in leicester, to port it up to middlesborough? That man needs to learn how to use a yellow pages better!
