Nugent to boro?

Nugent has been a proper player for us but if we can get 3-4 million for him we'd be stupid not to. He also needs game time which he won't get much of with us now.

Hope he goes and does well.

He's been a good player for us, scored a few goals, seems to play with a smile on his face, that said I never felt confident when he took a penalty!

£4m is too good to turn down as he is unlikely to see much action this season. Makes sense for him, become a hero at another club by winning promotion, good for us to put the cash to a quality signing.

Nugent hasn't got a goal in him. Why have him at the club he is dreadful. He isn't even a ten goals a season man at this level. He puts away penalties but that's about it. Only scored a fair amount in the CHAMPIONSHIP because he scored lots of penalties and had more games than in the premier league.

He has to go, get him off the wage bill and get some money so we can get a decent player. I would rather have Chris Wood ahead of nugent, he is THAT bad.

Edit. Just because you're not a Nugent fan boy and have clarity when you look at your team, not a pathetic man crush, doesn't make you a bad fan. Grow up people. He is a has been player and we have better ones, get rid.

That's a shockingly bad post and I think the amount of people on here that disagree with you back that up.

I'll agree that he'll never be prolific at this level but he's a 10 not a 9 and does far more more outside the box than in it and probably links the midfield & strikers far better than anyone else at the club. The comparison to Wood is laughable, two totally different players and Wood can probably control it further than Nugent can kick it, he's THAT bad, to use your phrase. For a man without a goal in him he scored our best goal IMO last season, scored more than Vardy and the woodwork got in the way of him extending that total to 8 or 9.

But fan of Nugent that I am I've got to admit there is such a thing as the right time to sell and I don't think we'll get a better deal for him. £4M is a ridiculous amount of money for a guy in his final year.  Boro are throwing silly money around and we'd be crazy not to get this wrapped up. I'd be tempted to ask for an extra 0.5m if they get promotion!

All the best Nuge :)

I have Boro to go up in a bet so I'd be happy if he goes and helps them do it. Nuge is still a decent player and has an eye for scoring different types of goals too. Unfortunately you can only have so many strikers though!

He is awful.

Mythical workrate, only scores two types of goals (pens and left corner of the box to the far post, perennial feck up infront of goal.

lol lol lol what?

frustrating and incredible in equal measure, one of them players who would score goals that seemed impossible to score and would miss goals that seemed impossible to miss. Seemed the more time he had to think about it, the less likely he was to score. But still, he is good enough to be playing in the prem and I hope that if he does go, he returns with boro next season as he is good enough for this level.

On another note, I viewed him as Mahrez's replacement in the 3-4-1-2 so i wonder if this means we're going to be playing a 4-4-2 a lot this season if he goes?

Dear me. What a clown.

Quite how anyone can slate a man who got a return of 15, 14 and 20 in our championship seasons is beyond me.  Yes he only got 5 last season but he only really featured in three quarters of the games and how many of them were as a sub?  God knows how many assists hes had also over the years it must be a fair few.

He's been a super player for us, probably one of the most consistent strikers we've had in the past 15 years and no one has barely ever seen him moan about anything.

4 million however is good money for him, and I'd much rather see his name pop up scoring goals for someone else than warming our bench if he's not in Ranieris plans anymore.

Entitled to your opinion.

I completely disagree, and so do many others. The man gave us 100% every time he played. And as for only got pens and left corner of the box, I'm guessing you didn't see the Liverpool goal? Or the poachers effort away at Leeds the year we went up? Or the runaway goal when Sven was in charge against Derby? Or the goal in the Burnley game at Turf Moor? I could go on... In fact go on YouTube, there's a review from 2013-2014 and it shows how many goals he scored plus the amount of chances he created.

I am not saying we wouldn't have got promoted without him, but he was a major part of the team that year, and I will miss him if he goes.

Thanks Nuge.

If mahrez is awful,he's still better than Nugent. 4 million lol  Boro better let him take pens if they want goals

Do penalties not count as goals then?

Anyone else think Nuge will reject this offer anyway and stay here to fight for his place/keep his juicy PL wage?

Seeing what happened to Chris Wood last year, surely Nuge wouldn't be naive enough to do the same if the chance to move came up?

You don't see Nugent's movement then? Or his ability to hold the ball?

I've lost count of the amount of times Nugent has come on and changed the game.

Seems like a good move for all parties now. Extremely grateful for everything Nuge has done and given for this club, and any Boro fans reading - you will fall in love with Nuge straight away.

Hope he gets promoted with Boro.

If his position was officially listed as an attacking midfielder or supporting striker as he's played enough last year and would continue doing this year, nobody would be complaining about his goal return and they'd focus on exactly what you said. As it is now, even playing as an attacking midfielder, people seem to expect him to be scoring 15 a season regardless. Before he got injured people were sure he'd beat Ulloa to be our highest scorer because of the form he was in.

4 million for Nugent?

Yes, I'd take that without hesitation.

I like Nugent but 4 mill is a good return for us.
