ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Joined us as a Championship player when we were a Championship team and played a big part in where we are Today. Always tried his best for us but sadly for him (and a few others) our progress means he is no longer good enough to play for us. I would like to wish David Nugent all the best if he does leave and I hope he gets a good reception if and when he next plays at the KP.
tickler28 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I think some people are forgetting that we have also had the likes of Roman Bednar, Nathan Blake and Mark De Vries play upfront for us down the years as well! You forgot to mention Carl Cort ;-)
Blue Ed Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Never quite got why some never took to Nuge Bought under Sven I would suggest that he's the player the team today has been built around, he optimises the work ethic we have going forward. True professional and a good player, a great goal haul that has put us in the Premiership today. Plus I don't think Vardy would be the player he is without him. Didn't quite work out for him last year which was a shame; although one screaming volley (can't remember who it was against) was awesome. Good business all round I think he'll do well at Borough. Best of luck
wolfgang amadeus Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Think we should take the 4m here but in my opinion (along with Schmeichel / King) Nuge has been one of our most consistent performers since he arrived, not clinical enough for the premier league but a key part of our most successful spell since MON and always seemed like a good player to have around.
Ian S Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Nugent hasn't got a goal in him. Why have him at the club he is dreadful. He isn't even a ten goals a season man at this level. He puts away penalties but that's about it. Only scored a fair amount in the CHAMPIONSHIP because he scored lots of penalties and had more games than in the premier league. He has to go, get him off the wage bill and get some money so we can get a decent player. I would rather have Chris Wood ahead of nugent, he is THAT bad. Edit. Just because you're not a Nugent fan boy and have clarity when you look at your team, not a pathetic man crush, doesn't make you a bad fan. Grow up people. He is a has been player and we have better ones, get rid. You are totally clueless. He may have slipped down the pecking order as we now have better options but your comments show you up for the pratt you really are.
v6rat Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 We've had the best years out of Nugent and currently have other striker options, so getting the reported £4 million for him looks great business to me considering he's unlike to feature in our 1st team at present other than possibly our cup runs.

Nugent will go with my thanks, probably the right time for him to move on. His stock is still high in the championship and he's an age where he's still got a good couple of years left in him at that level. Will have a lot of fond memories of Nugent (Leeds away championship winning season sticks out as a major one, Norwich away with the high risk army another, not forgetting the squirrel chasing at QPR.) Football fans have very short memories and how anyone can criticise David Nugent's contribution in a Leicester Shirt is beyond me.
HoustonFox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Said it before and I'll say it again: love me some Nuge. I would keep him...unless, he wants to go that is. All the posts on here have been judging him in either the crap or amazing category. He's in between for me, really solid squad player and we need them in he 25. He adds great morale and personality to the team and his team play and work ethic are clearly there for all to see. Should he score more? Probably. Actually think he looked our sharpest striker in preseason. I'm sure it's not a case of get rid for Austin, or whoever. How on earth will CR keep 5 out and out starters happy (4 if you count Krama as not quite ready but I think he certainly is banging on the door). So, I'd keep Nuge, yeah he missed a few sitters last season, who didn't? Vardy missed at least two golden opportunities on Saturday but no one criticized him too much as we had already won the game by then. Nuge also played an important part in us staying up - Everton 2-2 anyone? His goal at Anfield was pretty awesome too. In summary, keep. If he wants to go and play every week and get a final couple of seasons as a first choice striker, who can begrudge him?
wokinghamfox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Have to say... Okazaki for what would effectively be 3m + Nugent sounds like phenomenal business. Okazaki has played one game granted a good one but i didnt see any evidence that he is going to score goals at this level. Nugent however has little to prove at both so i think we should judge on evidence.
chicagofox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I don't think we can say that Nugent is a consistent goalscorer at Premier League level. I think he still has a lot to prove there.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 GOOD LUCK NUGE ThisBeen a good player for us, we wish him well if he goes
shailen Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Wonderful player and could still play a part for us, but £4m is a good price for him and we are unlikely to ever get that much again should we keep him. Despite the criticism, he is one player who has consistently performed for us and left us with some wonderful memories and goals.

iamafox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 If/when Nugent signs for Boro surely they'll end their interest in Rhodes?

Nugent however has little to prove at both so i think we should judge on evidence. Bit harsh. Saw Bergkamp when he first came to prem and he was woeful until he got up to speed. After that wow, Still maintain best player I've ever seen live at our ground. Destroyed us. Can't see how from one game any1 can say okazaki is not a goalscorer. I'd go as far as 9 out of 10 for a debut coming to the Prem and his record in bundesliga speaks for itself
BlueTillIDie Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 £4 million?? I'll drive him there myself! Nugent has been a great servant to the club but isn't quite prem standard and at 30 his best years are behind him for a striker.
desertfox2 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Huge Nuge fan and for what he did in the champ promotion he's a legend. That said We need to be aiming for top half of the prem though and anyone thinking he's in that league as a starter is an ostrich. 4m is a no brainer for his age. Isn't that 10 times what we paid for Mahrez? Huge Nuge fan and for what he did in the champ promotion he's a legend. Obviously, the club will have to sell if they've really been offered 4m for him. But there's no reason for so many people to WANT him to move on just for the sake of moving him.
rico Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Was one of Svens better signings and has been a great player for us,if he moves on for regular 1st team football i for one will wish him good luck

Fair enough, equally though if nobody thinks he should be a starter then 4m for a 30 year old squad player is pretty good. Would be sad to see him go but for 4m surely it would be crazy not to accept
Bamba's Babes Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 He is awful. Mythical workrate, only scores two types of goals (pens and left corner of the box to the far post, perennial feck up infront of goal.
