Soar Fox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Cambiasso? No. For me Cambiasso wasn't here long enough to feel as attached to him as I do Nuge.
Matt Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I've slagged him off in the past but he has been a good servant to the club, wish him all the best and he is a cracking Championship player. £4m though? For a 30 year old in his last year of his contract... I'm guessing it's much lower than that in reality, about half? The £4m is in add ons? It sure sounds good though!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 The worst thing about this that I can't believe nobody has mentioned is that it significantly drags down the average looks of the squad. It's fact that good looking teams don't go down - Hull last year had an ugly, ugly squad and quite rightly dropped - imho Newcastle need to watch their backs this season
Guest ttfn Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Depends what you mean by not really cutting it. I would still prefer him over Ings, Austin or any other striker whose team got relegated last season. He is a victim of our ambition. He's not leaving because he's not good enough for the Prem. No I'm sorry, take your blue tinted specs off for a second here.I love Nugent - I liked him before he played for us and even more after 4 good years here and I would have wanted nothing more for him than to shut up all of those who said he wasn't cut out for the top flight. But they were right, he just wasn't quite good enough. Many of our best results before the great winning run towards the end of the season (I'm thinking especially Manchester United at home but also Hull away) came about as much from Nugent's sheer force of will as anything else but ultimately whilst Nugent knitted the team together brilliantly on occasion, when he got injured we were still in the bottom 3 and he's certainly not good enough to be a regular starter for a side with aspirations any greater than finishing 4th bottom.

ImBlue Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Legend. Good luck Nuge. An absolutely lovely bloke off the field and a proper role model to any footballer.
Russell sprout Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Served the club brilliantly and one of the best freebies we've had in a long time, Neither party owes each other anything and nugents been as good for us a we have for him.
city187 Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I will remember him more for his camp arm waving with that squirrel then anything else.
Riot Van Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Cambiasso? Nah, only here for a year and I love nuge. Great guy and great player. Will never forget that norwich away game in the cup.
Jonezy Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 This has sadden me more than I thought.... Thanks for everything Nuge and good luck at Boro! Always worked hard and gave his all plus I have a feeling, he had a very positive influence on the dressing room over the years. All the best!
Carl the Llama Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 can't remember the last time I was sad about a player leaving Surely Dyer or Tony? Both messed with my heart a little.
Riot Van Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Surely Dyer or Tony? Both messed with my heart a little. Wouldn't say so, can't say I get sad when a player leaves that often so just shows how much I liked nuge I suppose
ktfox59 Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Legend. Good luck Nuge. An absolutely lovely bloke off the field and a proper role model to any footballer. hear hear. Top lad
Soar Fox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I thought my mum was going to burst into tears when I told her he's left. I'm genuinely saddened by him leaving probably more than any other player.
Albert Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 "It's good from Nugent...it's superb! David Nugent does it again against his former club and the leaders lead at Turf Moor" Just one of the unforgettable moments he's been apart of. Great servant and a top lad!
Raj Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Did well for us. Good move for all. Hope it works out well for him
Unabomber Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Did well for us, nice guy and we managed to get way more than fair for him. Great deal for us, hope he does really well for them.

And now he's going back to haunting the Burnley lot yet again. They will never escape him.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 And now he's going back to haunting the Burnley lot yet again. They will never escape him. Guaranteed goals against Ipswich and Burnley, both supposedly Boro's promotion rivals. Bargain for them really.
fazzyfox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Used to wind me up how following an inexplicable miss while I'm tearing my hair out he'd point at the goal and laugh and continue laughing for minutes after. Now I know they tell you that if you miss a chance you should not let your head drop and lose confidence but the laughing policeman routine when we're still reeling in shock at a missed sitter was bizarre and unique to him. Having said that I liked him, wanted him to stay and thought he was still good enough. Think we need another striker onboard to give us further options.
lestajigs Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 marty mcfly better hurry up get his mum and dad to bang before anymore people fade out of the photo lol

The lot below made it to the World Cup final. Look at them. Only their mothers could love them (Aguero aside perhaps).
Chryatis Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Top bloke who gave his all on the pitch. Good luck Nuge
