At no point did I suggest that it's the only method of abortion. I'm glad you agree that at least 1 in 10 abortions is barbaric. Like I said though this is OT. Surgical abortion is the suction removal I mentioned. The method you mentioned is late term/post-viability and generally they're only left that late if complications arise that mean carrying to term isn't viable. Pretending that an emergency procedure is the normal way is definitely a strawman. Firstly it'd be at most (>90% means greater than 90%), and I don't agree at all.

No I'm not referring to the delightful (sometimes used in an emergency, sometimes not) practice of dragging a living human being out of it's mother by its feet, up to the neck, at which point it quite literally has its brains sucked out. You are in error, look what the BPAS website says https://www.bpas.org/abortion-care/abortion-treatments/surgical-abortion/dilatation-and-evacuation/ the fetus is removed with forceps, not by suction, that's the point where the skull is crushed (the baby's still alive at this point) the suction device gets rid of all the soft tissue left overs after that. If your really lucky you get to wrench the entire body out and then you get to watch the poor wretch die on a slab in front of you. This is not an emergency procedure it is done in 20 minutes. This is for pregnancies in the 2nd trimester. As I said, the strawman is yours. You are one quoting statistics not me, I just went along with you. Frankly I don't care whether this happens once a year or 50,000 times it's legal and it's wicked and you are quite happy with it.
leicsmac Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Reasonably sure the Hillary camp has sat on the whole "Don being a misogynist" recording for some time and chose the most opportune moment to release it. Going to be an interesting debate next up, that's for sure. Polls are showing Trump dropping like a stone again.
Merging Cultures Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 They really are showing Trump's camp up. Her scandals have been out for ages, everyone is largely over the emails and Benghazi. I am pretty sure Hillary's people have much more to release too, and they will slowly release more each week running up to the polls. Sunday is a 'town hall' style debate, which involves questions from the public. It is going to be really funny to watch how Trump responds and if he will get wound up.
Lionator Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Surely this is the final nail in Trumps coffin. It really is depressing that the debate isn't over who can offer the best for the United States, but instead it's basically who has the least baggage and scandal surrounding them. Pure sleaze and a reflection of the way that the human population is heading.

For me as long as the baggage is somethng acceptable (legal but also not necesarily my cup of tea ) like sexual fetishes (anything poop related.... yuck) or recorded a 3 way with madonna and pamela anderson or got caught as a teen stealing bubble gum (illegal but as a dumb teen) i couldn't care less of you were an amazing politician /leader. We all have some baggage but judge the people on things they've done recently and not 10 or 20 or 30 years ago. Trump seems like an absolute disaster of a candidate. He doesnt seem to learn based on his responses to the stories out there. If the Republicans had any sense they would drop him tonight because I think any half decent republican could mount a victory against clinton.
Webbo Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 The man's an absolute bellend, Clinton will piss it.

SMX11 Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 Still think Trump has this. It will be like Brexit 2.0.

m4DD0gg Posted 8 October 2016 Posted 8 October 2016 I am in the States at the moment and if the whole media circus wasn't in over drive before it sure is now, they are all over this with many in his party pulling their support. On the topic of the USA i have been here twice previously in the late 1990s and 2008, since then there has been such a shift in culture its hard to miss and for the worse i might add. The country itself is amazing, incredible, crazy and beautiful however the media and politics (and most of the sport and food) are horrendous. The overwhelmingly good customer service has virtually dropped off the edge of a cliff - yes you still get the incredible individuals in the service trade but they are few and far between. Even when receiving rank bad service they still have their hands out for the obligatory tip. I thought we had it bad in the UK but i am so glad and so proud to say i am from the UK. Never again will i moan about the traffic on the M1/M25 after trying to negotiate either LA, San Diego or San Francisco at any time of day, never again will i moan that i cant get a GP appointment the moment i want one, never again will i moan about food in some of our restaurants. As a whole we have it pretty damn good in the UK in comparison to the supposed most powerful country in the world.

With the caveat that he has to win the next two debates to stop the rot. Both are disliked but Trump enthuses his base far more than Clinton. Might be decided by who stays at home. Polls really aren't to be trusted imo.

Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 October 2016 Posted 9 October 2016 The American dream really is over. Free market economics and giant corporations in all aspects of American life has really killed the entrepreneurial spirit and "can do" attitude in the 60's, 70's and 80's that made the US great. Scary to think that there are those of the right of the Tories and in UKIP that want the UK to go in a similar direction.
Webbo Posted 9 October 2016 Posted 9 October 2016 You can't have an entrepreneurial spirit without the free market. Small govt is what made America great and it's because govt is intervening more that they are in decline.

I think a lot of it is also to do with the Chinese willing to use a half billion people as essential slave labour and the multinationals originating in the US but now being truly global being totally fine with that as long as it improves the bottom line. How can the US compete with that on a blue collar level?

The exact same happened here with Thatcher and Blair. Since then there has been a reduction of wages in real terms and for the first time in modern times every generation has been poorer than the one that preceded it. If you think Clinton, Bush and Obama have intervened in business more than Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon and Carter then you need to read up on your history.

foxy boxing Posted 9 October 2016 Posted 9 October 2016 Lots of mixup with the statement trump grabs fanny, they mean different parts of the body in Britain and America.in america fanny means bottom but lots of fun in the British press I'm sure. Everyone knows trump is a masoginist andvalues women only on how they look.

Blair increased the public sector by 900,000 workers, signed us up to the EU's social chapter which increased regulations on industry. You might think that's a good thing but it isn't shrinking the state.
